  1. A basic strong club system can look like: 1♣ 16+ Followups - new suit natural 8+ HCP 1N 8+ bal -> 2♣ stayman 1M 5+ 1♦ 2+ 1N 14-16 2♣ 6+ or 5♣4M The things worth discussing are IMO what to do after interference against 1♣ and some basic folloups after 2♣ and 2♦. Strong club is fun to play because you open a lot and with partner being limited it makes slam bidding easier and more natural for a beginner. By the way I dont think the system matters, the most important thing is that the person that plays it likes it and enjoys playing it. As he improves and starts to understand the game better I am sure he will improve the system as well.
  2. Very easy pass for me as well. We will rarely miss game if partner cant reopen and defending could be just about right in a misfit hand.
  3. For me this is clearly not strong enough for reverse. And neither 1♣ -2♣, nor 1♦-2♣ is better than 1N. So 1N it is.
  4. I think it should be forcing, with your example hand I would just bid 3NT. It could be a slam try or some 5512 or similar and looking for the best game.
  5. I would pass. I dont think partner has a hopeless hand else he would have just bid 4♥ over1♣. But then again he knew that he was facing an unlimited hand and decided to make a double jump so he probably has his reasons. IMHO bidding now shows a lack of trust in partner. Edit: Didnt see that 4♥ would not have been natural - now you have all the more reasons to pass.
  6. This one is very close, I can live with 2♣ or 2♥.
  7. I would be happy if my ops play this. It looks complicated enough so they will be concentrated on giving the correct signal and may lose quite a bit of their table presence. + they will still sometimes mess up and will have less time to actually think about the hand.
  8. I would bid 4♦. I cant see a way to inteligently make partner declarer in 3N and 3NT from my side doesnt appeal. 3♥ could work, but when it doesnt it will fail spectacularly, possbily hurting partnership trust. 4♦ looks down the middle, hoping to play 4♠ or 5♦ and keeping partner in the picture.
  9. +1 provided I can still sign off in 4♥ after starting with 2NT
  10. I dont mind 2♥ or pass (I would pass personally) but I think 3♥ on those cards is really poor.
  11. Obvious pass, with a poor 5 card suit partner will open 1♦
  12. Very close between pass and 2NT, double and 3♦ both look pretty bad to me.
  13. I would pass and double if they try to play in clubs. I agree that we may miss a game but overcalling vul at the 2 level with a crappy 5 card suit is even less appealing.
  14. 1♣-1♦ 1♥-1♠ //Forcing many hands - Relay 3♣-3♥ //GF 5+♥4+♣ - ♥fit not dead min 3♠-4♣ //cuebid, cuebid serious slam try - shows the King (or Ace) 4N- 5♦ //1 KC 6♣-6♥ Of course the danger is that partner has only 3 ♥and 3♣ and no slam makes. But with only 3 trumps and Kxx and out partner would probably make a non serious slam try with 3N. And if you put a diamond from the west hand into spades slam is completely hopeless losing diamond and a spade. So I wouldnt worry so much about it.
  15. Dont think you can afford to lead 4th best, the 8 is such a high spot that may be difficult to read. I would just lead the 4 to let partner know I have a good suit and its a good idea to play another club.
  16. Would you reopen. If yes how? [hv=pc=n&s=s9754hatdak6cajt6&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=2spp]133|200[/hv]
  17. 1. First hand is a clear double I think. Worst case partner bids 4♠, but if he does he will have extras and maybe we will survive. 2. As suggested partner can splinter and make it easy for you to RKCB. After 3♥-4♠ he had a guess and he guessed wrong.
  18. 2♠ is 100 % forcing for me and thats what I am bidding
  19. 1♣>pass>3♣. Would be a lot closer if I had KJ109x instead of AJ10xx
  20. Not sure if I would open 3 or 4♥s but I am definitely not opening with a weak 2 bid.
