  1. As West I would open weak 2/ multi if available. Furthermore I am surely bidding 4♣, it will help partner to make the right lead and will allow him to sacrifice if he has a freak.
  2. 1. No. It is clear to pass. 2. Double shows support for the unbid suits and some HCP. If you had only 1♠ and 2♥ it would be more uncomfortable, but I still think it would be right to double.
  3. 100% South. Even if partner has a single Stopper 4M or 5♣ may be superior to 3N. I don't see any alternative to 1N as North, 2♣ is an underbid and 3♣ will often be 4-3 fit or even 4-2 if you are out of luck
  4. Ok, so Me+jfaria are available.
  5. Hi, I am interested, but need to check with my partner.
  6. With a forcing hand I would bid direct 3♦ so this should be signoff
  7. 2♥. Double risks a 2♠ response from partner which I cant stand.
  8. Playing penalty doubles after overcalls higher than 2N seems pretty bad to me, what are you supposed to do with a classical t/o X and game going hand?
  9. If you decided to open 1♦ what do you sugest to bid over 1♥ response?
  10. For the record I should mention that we actually have 1 win
  11. I would say it depends. If my partner prefers sound overcalls when vulnerable I would always pass without second thoughts. Playing with a flexible partner I think its very close but I still pass, unless I feel that we need to do something. Then I will bid 2♦. I will not consider 3♦ under any circumstances.
  12. Hi all, In a recent IMP Game the following was a side KQ10xx in Dummy opposite J9. I won trick one and at trick 2 I played the king and 9 from hand ducked all around. At this point I asked about the count signals(didn't want to ask before the play since that might persuade them to give wrong count. Convention card was not available.). No matter what explanation I got, I was always going to play the Diamond Queen next. It was ducked all around as well. After the hand my opponent, a well known ethical player suggested that it would have been to ask after I have played the diamond queen. So what do you guys think, was it unethical to ask at that time? Thnx in advance
  13. I think double is completely obvious, I don't think any reasonable player would choose to pass in that position.
  14. I think psyching against club players really spoils their enjoyment of the game. Its the same when you go in a club full with old ladies and play some weird system like fantunes or strong club. They just feel cheated. Playing against decent players I think rare psyching is making the game richer, as others pointed out
  15. I wouldn't double in a million years, the hand is just terrible. If it goes 2♠-p-p I would reopen. For me X of 2♠ would be penalty, 2N should show minors competitive.
  16. Agree with the initial pass, I would have been trilled if partner could double 2♣. Now I bid 3♦ hoping to reach the best possible game. If I had 3♣s I would X.
  17. I would bid 2N, I feel I have too much for NF 3♣. 4♦ is more descriptive, but I am afraid 5♣ may suffer ♥ruffs. Partner will not be short in ♥ when GF, since he didn't jump to 3♥.
  18. If I had only 2 its far more likely that partner has a 5 card suit here and since he rates to be the stronger hand, I really want to get his suit running.
  19. In my strong club system this shows a 3 suiter with short hearts. When was the last time you had opening hand with 5 card suit you can bid and stopper in opponents suit? + with that hand you could X and cuebid and have no problem at all. Anyway since North would have started with 2♠ if he had 5 of them, South should bid 4♦ over 3♠. I don't think North should X on the second round, he really cant stand a pass.
  20. I would try a ♥, but would feel much better if I had only 2 ♥s
  21. I would bid game unless partner is known to be extremely aggressive.
  22. I dont see the point of bidding exclusion when you dont know what to do if partner shows 2 KC. Anyway I would guess 6, should have some play. With a lot of useless heart values, he would have signed off.
  23. I would have been 4N at my last turn showing no interest, i think 4♥ should agree ♦. Consequently 5♣ is cuebid, denying a ♠control. Maybe something like Qxx Qxxx AKxxx x would be perfectly consistent. Of course partner may have xxx Qxxx AKQxx x. Anyway I bid 5♦ and hope we are not too high, no way to recover after I misbid previous round.
