  1. I would just bid 4♥ and hope I can make it. Second choice is pass
  2. I dont mind 1♠ or X. Now is clear to pass
  3. Close between 3♥ and 3N. If you respond pretty light I think 3♥ is enough, if not 3N.
  4. Why bother on a complex agreement about a situation that occurs once a year?
  5. WJS are wide ranging the way I play them. Sometimes I will miss a close game when responder has max, but very often, it will get us to the right contract very fast while leaving little room to the opponents.
  6. I think bidding is really terrible here. This will surely give them 500+ and I dont have the slightest idea if they can make 3N. Even if they run to 5♣ partner will surely double thinking I have my bid which will not be any success. Only reason I could think for bidding 4♥ is (assuming I dont like partner) to convince him that I am lunatic so that he can leave me alone.
  7. I think pass is clear. You bid your hand and partner decided to bid only 4♦. He made them guess so you should just pass and hope they guessed wrong. Besides, I am not sure I can beat 7♦, not to mention 6.
  8. South has a truly terrible hand, I think 2♠ is plenty. I would rather pass 1♠ before I invite.
  9. Just wanted to report that after brilliant play from our teammates we managed to hold on to a slender win 34-30.
  10. I will never ever pass, either 1♠ or 2♠, depending on my agreements. If 2♠ is WJS then 1♠+2♠ should be invitational with 6 cards. After 2N from partner I just bid 4♠ and hope I can make it.
  11. Hi, 1. I would recommend using 2♣ to show both majors 2NT to show both minors, DBL to show 15+ HCP, and all other bids are natural. After 2♣ your partner may bid 2♦ to ask for your better major. This is very simple defence which will work very well most of the time. 2.If I understand correctly partner open 1NT and they doubled. I would suggest that all your bids now are natural and weak. With a good hand you can redouble or pass 1NTX.
  12. I would like to play with jfaria if possible.
  13. The advantage of 2NT is that responder has another level to describe his hand. In my system he can have anything from a spade one-suiter to 5-5 in ♥and♠ or a hand with very good fit in one of our suits and a slam try. So I dont see any advantage of preempting our side except when you have a minimum balanced hand (possibly with stiff spade) with a very good stopper in hearts.
  14. I would have started with 2♣ as South, although I can see how 3NT can work out better sometimes (they trust me to have hearts very well stopped and dont lead it. And 3NT will be our best spot like 80% of the time maybe more. ). As other said, there was nothing wrong with the play.
  15. I would also open 1NT, but I would not mind at all if my partner opened the hand 1♦.
  16. I tend to show my second suit 100% of the time if I have extra values. With minimum hands it depends on the form of scoring and suit quality.
  17. I would raise to 3. Partner is a passed hand after all.
  18. 1.The first one is definitely stronger demanding a cuebid. In the second one responder is allowed to sign off with a minimum hand. 2.Any 2 suits (clubs included) 3. The important question is do you play support X or does X show a strong hand. Do you play good/bad. Strong or weak NT. Without this information I cant answer your questions.
  19. 1. Completely normal preempt at this vulnerability, I would always open this. 2. I think preempting with this hand is really bad. You hold 5 ♠s and have only a mediocre 6 card suit. 3. I think its close whether to bid 3 or 4♣s. In general it is not a good idea to preempt and bid again. 4. Almost as bad as the second one, suit is terrible, holding 4♠ is not much upside as well.
  20. I am passing. 11 bal and no Ace is very ugly. Jx doubleton doesnt make it any better.
  21. Well partner doesnt really an 8 card suit for his 3♣ bid. A typical hand would be xx Qxx Ax KJ10xxx.
  22. Yes. If partner has balanced minimum he will not bid again. With an unbalanced hand he will usually bid his second suit. You can raise him showing an invitational hand with support. If he rebids 2♠ you will not be happy, but you should pass.
