  1. Seems logical to have 2N as the 4-card raise. A cuebid by an unpassed hand needs to be available for big hands without support. So cue should be at most 3 card support. By passed hand cue would always be 3-card support.
  2. Great bid. If slam was there on this hand this was the bid to find slam. 4♣ is bid 100% forcing according to the convention. This convention is not programmed correctly. Gib apparently prefers 130 to 620 with the club fit.
  3. Hand IMP challenge standard robots. A few questions come to mind: Why wasn't this opened as a pre-empt? Is 1NT really the correct bid for GIB? When Gib later bids 3♦ as 4+ should you really expect 7. 5-10 range isn't my recollection of what a 1NT response to a takeout double is.
  4. Bidding 1♥ guarantees no 5♠. This is taken advantage by later bidding so cant lie about this is absolute rule.
  5. Could be it rules for when it doesnt find a simulation are bad. The bug I am worried about is the 7NX bug where Gib wouldn't lead ace on lead. This was fixed but the underlying bug was never found. Also I noticed with say 3 tricks left Gib doesnt take it sure trick until trick 13 which can be just bad bridge or a big or sometimes good bridge.
  6. 3♣ should be a double negative. With a King??? but your point is valid must bid 6♥. I think this is something even a non advanced robot should do, it is that fundamental and has been happening a lot.
  7. I agree but the bean counters won't bid 2♥. If you won't bid 2♥ you have to open 1♥ as next best.
  8. There has to be a bug. Even if this was not the advanced robots is no excuse. To duck trick and throw honours under declarer's cards is just ridiculous. When will BBO admit they have a bug?
  9. 2N denies 4♠ and 4♥ over 1♥ for that matter. Can have 3-card support for the major.
  10. If south was taking advantage of the pause their bid is 4♠. Is a clear 3♠ only a corpse passes.
  11. Exactly.Gib lacks the capability to plan for routine responses from partner.
  12. Is showing 8-card suit patterns that useful? A) they are very rare B) if they occur opps have 7 or 8 card suit of their own a lot of the time and will jump the bidding very high so you won't be able to show.
  13. Your opening has 13 support points but doesnt satisfy rule of 19 or 20 If you had 11 hcp it would have 14 support points and thus a nonminimum
  14. Why would ypu needt to jump playing weak nt? A simple raise to 2S shows at least 25 in hcp or support pt Jumping on 16 simply unnecessary
  15. Nice but post wants methods over a natural 2NT GF response to 1M.
  16. True, but in MP (or imps on other hands if there is some unusual way to get an extra trick) you have told opponents what to lead.
  17. Trying to implement Gitleman's suggestion 1♥-2♠ and 1♠-3♣ as 4 card support. His article suggests having 2N balanced will improve 2/1 bidding by taking balanced hand out of 2/1
  18. I am looking for system of responses to 1♥-2NT and 1♠-2NT Currently 2NT is defined as 13+ hcp no biddable 5-card suit, may have 3-cards in opened major. 1M is defined as 5+ cards 11-15 hcp but would be fine if this wasn't required as can adjust. I know this is not mainstream but am trying to implement this. Googling I could only find 10-12 hcp bids. <edit> 2N denies 4 ♠ and 4♥ over 1♥ for that matter. Can have 3-card support for the major.</edit>
  19. I had a similar thought too. But responding on 7+ is not the norm 6+ is. To me this is a max 3S bid. Yes is imps but partner knows this too. With most of my partners we respond on 5 hcp. Sometimes even less especially with a 5-card suit and no fit for partners opening. With some hands we respond with 4S won't have a good play. Also we play weak NT so we try to respond so opener can rebid 1NT.
  20. Challange match imp nonmal robot hand gib has 8 good hearts which it never mentioned
  21. mp challange match with advanced robots hand Clearly West must ruff ♦ asap which is trick 8. Taking till 9 simply gives a free trick. I have seen other examples of this type of action.
  22. One idea in "Enhanced Precision" is to include the least likely positive, club positives in with 1D. This system uses a lot of differentiation for unusual hands mixed into different bids. But I think simply using 1D for club positives is possible. Now you have 1N for 12+ balanced or 11+ balanced; as you wish. So, you have enough room to get full shape and strength of responder if you want. Also, means you can include 2N as a 4441 bid.
