That's right but there's another problem. The names you see outside are not the same names as inside....Outside I see Anderson, Goodman , David G and Dunn. When I enter the room it's actually Kurbalija, Diane G, Rees and Devlin.

Just wondering how others feel about this because it's becoming a common occurrence in some paying tournaments, except ACBL. TDs and members of the group sign up for their tournament, even though the conditions of the tournament do not specify "playing TD", and withdraw their names a couple of minutes before the start, or as in one case, one of the TDs would sign up for all the tournaments for that group for that day, but was never online to play them. Another enterprising TD was signed up for an individual and a pairs tournament, starting within 5 minutes of each other, both of which he was supposed to be directing! :P I thought if he could that that he must be amazing! I know that people are more inclined to sign up if the numbers are larger, especially where they are told that if the number of players exceeds......whatever, they win a certain amount of money. I am all for bbo making money, as I think it is well-deserved, but I would like to know if, all the above happens with the approval of bbo, if they know about it, and what is the reason. Personally I would rather pay and play in tournaments where nothing of the sort takes place. Would anyone consider this unethical or merely enterprising? :) Of course there might be another perfectly logical explanation, but I have asked a couple of the TDs and I wasn't given one.

3.9.6 working great for me so far, but I've upgraded straight from 3.9.3. on this computer.

I can't log in either with the new version. I see the error message with one player online and 0 invisibles. :)

I keep crashing with a netvu error message..Makes no difference what I am doing. Right now I was kibbing and crashed and yesterday I was chatting and crashed. :( I didn't have this problem with the older version.

You can find forums from the newsbox in the lobby of bbo. Click till you get to useful webpages and then open forums in a new window. It isn't really hard to find or see :rolleyes: Enough with the spoon-feeding :D If you don't want to leave your room on bbo then www.bridgebase.com/forums should do it or just save it in favourites as bearmum mentioned. I think people don't come here because they aren't interested in reading or posting, and that's all there is to it.

♦ I have the same system and stuff that janqvik has and up until yesterday saw diamonds in forums as orange squares. Today I see diamonds but a little smaller than the other symbols. Strangely enough, in another country, with exactly the same system as the one I have here, diamonds were normal.

But Chamaco, Andrew Greeley's latest book is called "The Priestly Sins" so who do they confess to :)

Bridgemaster level 3 D-4. If you have the cd there are lots of deals with explanations on elimination play. If you have downloaded from bbo the above is there. That isn't the only one, there are dozens of deals where Fred explains what elimination play is...good luck :)

Uday, I can open my hands from myhands with bbo running and see as many as i like without a crash. I can also open a new window from the link in the lobby and see as many as I like with no problem. It only crashes when I click on the link and view myhands from there. I can only see about four and then I crash.Actually I have to check and see when the crash actually happens..I think it's usually while viewing the hand.

Aramesh is the TD of one of the largest, more successful, daily, non-paying tournaments on bbo. He even finds time to respond to kibs' questions and comments. :lol: If an invisible TD makes an announcement as soon as the tournament starts then he is easy to track, however, some invisible TD's don't. Tournament starts, your opps aren't bidding, and knowing how some TDs don't want you to use call the director button but want to be private-messaged, you waste time looking for him in the lobby......etc. No I don't think it's fair.

I log in to forums and my hands from the newsbox in the bbo lobby, but after a few minutes I get an error message that says, insufficient memory, and I get booted from bbo. Does anyone else have this problem or could someone please tell me what is wrong? I had no problems with the older version. I thought the newsbox looked nicer and was easier to use...it didn't boot me :D

I suspect Uday private messaged his opps and said "If you lead a spade you will be barred". Thus the heart lead right into his Ace King Jack :D :)

Calabres, whoever you are, I am not at war with anyone or anything. I stated a well-known fact, and my views. It is allowed here. Kibitzers skills have absolutely nothing to do with this thread, so please post childish remarks somewhere else.;) I was responding to Ben's post.I kib many clubs' tournaments and I have seen people who are intermediates play in abalucy. So basically it isn't a club for advanced+ or experts+ as Ben said. I kibbed my teacher the other day and he questioned his opp who said...sorry I am intermediate:) So I don't see what problem you have with my post.

Uday, Some acbl tds don't even have a nick on their profiles let alone their real names. I think that you should follow up on your suggestion above and ask acbl tds to have their real name on their profile. According to Gweny's post above, all the acbl tds on bbo are acbl certified, therefore I see no reason for nicks or in one case at least, no name at all. There might be members that would like to check with acbl whether a name is certified or not if they don't want to take Gweny's word for it. I suspect that each director has his/her own set of announcements to make during the tournaments. Just a suggestion if I may. Would it be possible to have the same announcements made, by all the tds. i.e. tds don't need to make up their own. Something polite and civil....I have seen quite a few unecessary comments made by tds in acbl tournaments which I will not repeat here. I don't remember them word by word anyway but they seemed to be a little over the top. ;) People go to play tournaments to get points and to have fun. Being treated like a kindergarten kid or a fellon on probation, isn't my idea of fun. Thanks Rona Thanks Rona

If I may put in my two cents worth here, since I spend a major part of my time on bbo kibitzing, I would say that the only two clubs that have advanced+ players only as members, are Topflight and Stars. ;)

No I mean the welcome voice I hear when I log on. That was gone but returned after I logged in and out about 4 times. :blink:

Mine has updated but I lost the "welcome" when I log on. I find it useful when I walk away from the computer while logging on..Is there any way I can get that back? Since I have no idea how to delete this post.. I must inform you that I logged on and off 3 times and on the 4th, I had it.

Are you sure you have version 3.8.8. Ben? Fred posted 3.8.7. by mistake so we all upgraded the same version basically. He has now corrected to 3.8.8. so maybe you should have another look. ;)
