  1. QUOTE (rona_ @ Aug 12 2006, 12:48 AM) Yes we are used to the speeches and apologies by now. Israel is deeply deeply sorry for the unfortunate loss of civilian life..and boom within the next few minutes another civilian building has been levelled and 30 civilians dead. No one buys their stories anymore. I don't like Hezbollah but at least they're don't pretend to be sorry for what they have done. Let's face it. Israel is a terrorist state, they have had 3 prime ministers that were terrorists, hezbollah and hamas are also terrorists in my view. Ariel Sharon masterminded the Sabra and Shatila massacres in 1982 in Lebanon and guarded the Palestinian camps while the Phalangists (a Lebanese militia group), executed a few thousand palestinian refugees. Posting that speech here is in bad taste. I am not siding with anyone, I just think that one-sided propaganda speeches shouldn't be posted here. This is supposed to be a forum for friendly discussion and not for Zionist or Arab propaganda. How about some history instead . Tell readers about the Balfour Declaration in 1917, how the state of Israel was created, why Hezbollah was created etc.
  2. Where do I begin.......... :(
  3. Jimmy I don't believe everything that I read:) I know for a fact that Israel has been bombing buildings and areas that they shouldn't have come close to. I agree with you that we can't go back and back in history and I believe in Israel's right to exist. But they are turning the whole Arab world against them and making Nasrallah a hero which he is not. I think both Israel and the US have been very short-sighted starting with the war in Iraq and now this vicious attack on Lebanon where they had so much support. Now I am really going to bed:)
  4. Who is WE anyway..are you part of the bbo management now? You are welcome to your opinion that Israel isn't a terrorist state just as I am happy to state that I think they are and so are Hez and Hamas. There are many speeches that I could post here that are one-sided, however I don't feel it's fair to do so. Goodnight. Oh and before I go just remind Bush not to insist on democratic elections in Egypt because then whoops, here comes the Moslem Brotherhood with 70 million inhabitants and counting.
  5. Everthing should be allowed except intentional propaganda.

  7. Mike what would you like him to say? Lebanon is not a Muslim country. (Not yet anyway). The President is by constitution a Christian of the Maronite Sect and the Prime Minister a Sunni Muslim. They haven't had a census there for many years but the Muslims are definitely the majority of the population. Siniora is trying to find a way to peace in his country without starting another civil war.
  8. Just a suggestion, but maybe you guys should just stick to playing bridge? :)
  9. I don't think bbo gets a cut but the forum is "find a Partner/Teacher". Is it only for free teachers? Have no idea  I have seen Teachers advertise here and not for free lessons.
  10. If you mean lessons for money I can recommend: o_bones (Mike Dorn Wiss), mcphee (Bob Mcphee), or Stanned (I don't remember his real name). You get better rates with people from Eastern Europe (stanned) but their hours would probably not suit you. Hope this helps.
  11. \ You cannot be serious, or you must be a friend of the star. I wouldn't give him back a star even if he apologised. This is an indi. He signs up for indis he has to keep his mouth shut. By the way,I have no idea who the * is, just my personal opinion. And yes jdeegan handled this well. Someone like me would have quit bbo and bridge forever:) oh, and jdeegan tell him he can't spell, lol.
  12. 700+ kibs but the "' ïn crowd "insist on saying hi to each other and their sisters cousins and aunts? You just have to learn to live with it. They, for some reason think they have a right to annoy 660 kibs because they have this insatiable need to show off..The yellow is there to make sure the rest of us know the annoyers are his friends :) The one or two vugraph commentators that I have seen annoying kibs, must think they have earned the right to do so, so, enemy-list comes to mind. One word of advice. Do not even think of telling one of the forty to please private chat with their friends, instead of chatting to kibs. The abuse you get just isn't worth the effort, unless you are happy to spend the next half hour arguing with egomaniacs and twits, and taking screen shots to send to abuse :) :D Use the right-click option. It's easy :) Beats trying to teach people basic manners.
  13. Susan Doty in my view, has done a terrific job so far. All the commentators I kibbed in about 5 matches were wonderful PLUS. Larry Cohen was a treat! The Cavendish used one of the options that was offered to them by BBO so why we are starting world war III here. Why can't everyone support Susan in what she is doing instead of trying to pull the rug from under her feet... :D
  14. Posted: May 1 2006, 07:41 PM Al_U_Card And you went ahead and posted another eight times after this. :)
  15. Just make up a zip code! I think I did that once and it worked.
  16. With all due respect, all open tourneys are popular, but I am sure the members appreciate the plug. There are open tourneys, with playing TDs and no adjustments, that attract 60-80 tables, and one, in particular runs a few times a day with no less than 60 tables each time. A listed tournament that specifically said "please do not sign up this is a test", had 117 players in a matter minutes. What does this say to you? The majority of members don't even read the tournament description but just sign up because they want to play a tournament. For some it's any tournament and any TD. In my view we don't lose. There are times when there are 7000 players logged on to bbo so the more TDs, the merrier. We all have the option not to play tournaments of TDs we don't like but at least we have options. Decreasing the options cannot be a particularly good thing for BBO or the majority of the players. The only people who would benefit from your proposals are TDs who have been around a long time. This could have a negative effect, discouraging new people from taking TD duties, and, in effect, cutting down on the total number of tourneys. Right!! ;) NOT so humbly, Rona :)
  17. Is 2 ♥ forcing? I would pass 2♥. Isn't the bidding a little strange?
  18. I haven't figured out yet what it does now that it didn't do before. Has anything changed?
  19. I am a Greek Cypriot living in Egypt. Three years ago I lived in Singapore and next year I might be living in Venezuela or Mali for all I know. ;) I always use the flag of my country of origin. Why should I be forced to wear the flag of the country I live in, especially when I don't speak the language. Furthermore, why should I have a mark on my profile saying I'm not logging in from France for instance, but logging in from Timbuktu. Most people don't have their real name, email, or bridge level on their profile so why is their "real" flag becoming an issue now. mrdct who gets miffed if the Santa Lucia player can't discuss cricket with him because he's actually an American who took a fancy to the S>Lucian flag, is going to be changing his flag when on vacation. When he logs in to bbo with a Singapore flag and people chat to him in Hokkien or Singlish, he will need time to explain why he is wearing a singapore flag, and why he doesn't speak the language.(if he doesn't). :) This is just one example of how it could get uncomfortable and inconvenient for some. Personally, I would not want to have to explain on a daily basis when approached by Arabic speaking members, why I log in from Egypt but don't speak the language, or have to explain why I am here. In my view there are more important things to worry about. :)
  20. http://www.bridgebase.com/help/10/conventioncard.html It's self-explanatory. This is the old style convention card. After you get the hang of this one, then you could try FD but I would wait a little.:) Good luck.

Looking for answers as to how the bidding for North SOuth should have been. I was south and pretty lost because my partner and I had never discussed defence over a multi 2 diamond. I thought 3♥ might be confusing to partner and 3 clubs would show a different hand. This hand is from a tournament where most SOuths just jumped to slam when their partner bid spades after the x of 2♥ many thanks :)
  22. Thanks. At least I know there is no "technical" reason to make that bid. No it was not a misclick. I asked north, whom I happen to know, why he bid 4♥ and not 4♠, but I was ignored.

Oh and just for your info, this was months back, in a paying tournament on bbo where kibs were disallowed. Many thanks, Rona
  24. Well then. maybe someone can explain this. I have had two different email addresses on my profile for the last three years. One was a hotmail account. I have never had spam sent to either of those addresses. In fact the only address that gets spammed is one that has never been on my bbo profile. :) So I would tend to disregard most of the above posts and continue showing my email and name. I am rather tired of all the people called Private, whose email is private, and level is private of course. On the whole they aren't the ones to display the best of manners, neither in tournaments or in the MBC. :D. Gone a bit off-topic here, sorry................ Rona
