AK and A and partner has a two-suiter
MinorKid replied to Hanoi5's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
I am afraid I cannot totally agree. 4♦ should at least shows extra as: 1. The auction have been game forcing since 3♥. 2. If partner prefer ♣ than ♦... -
AK and A and partner has a two-suiter

IMO, The kind of hand you mentioned is likely to be sort of xxx - KQJx KQJxxx which can be rebid 4♣, awaiting your 4♦ response in case of ♦ fit. Rebidding 4♦ need a bit of extra as it is forcing to 5m. If your partner opens 1♣ for xx xx KQJx KQJxx and 1♣ {2♠} 3♥ {Pass} 4♦ doesn't promise anything extra, I recommend responder strictly bidding 6♣ and hope for an ace. -

IMO partner have shown reverse strength so unlikely to have ace-less hand. With x x KQJxx KQJxxx OR xx xx KQJx KQJxx I guess most player would start 1♦. Agree with fluffy that we have playable slam, partner may have something like xxx - AKJxx AKQxx (or more) OR Just xxx J AQJx AQJxx which is a decision between 6 or 7. What's more it seems the minor honors are on favorable side to partner. Agree with aguahombre's 4♠ seem the way to go. Partner bid 5♣ -> 6♣ Partner bid 6♣ -> 7♣ Partner bid 5♦ -> 6♣ Partner bid 6♦ -> 7♣ Partner bid 4NT -> Blackwood -
Playing Bid Club system, many 11~15 ranged hands will be opened 1♦ (As few as 2 cards up) 14~15 Balanced Hand will be opened 1NT 11~13 Balanced Hand is open 1♦, despite only having 2 of them, and planned to rebid NT if no four card suit is supported. However is opener can immediately raise a suit, there could be a variant. We play circumstances of 1♦ - 1♥ - 1♠/1NT/2♥ can have fewer than 4 diamonds (11~13 Balanced Hand) I am wondering how you guys treat the number of diamonds opener has after the sequence of 1♦ - 2♣ (11+) - 3♣ Thanks

Case 1. Partner has ♦AKQJxxxxxxxx ♠A OR ♦AKQJxxxxxxxx ♥A I guess most pairs would like to defend 7♠ or 7♠X . 7NT will make when he has the first hand or RHO holds all thirteen diamonds, which is not a big chance. However, if you have (void Axxxxx x Axxxxx) instead than 7NT will make for sure because your partner must have the ♠A . Case 2 is a bit different from case 1. This time you judge your RHO, given that 7♠ is going to make. You can calculate that either we can make 7NT or your partner were underualified for the 1♦.

I am a novice here. I think it is okay for north to open 1♠. How about bidding 4♦ over 3NT ? MinorKid

How about case 2 ? Are you sure that West holds ♠ void this time?
-
I trust my partner for making 7♦. If he has AKQJxxxxxxxx and a small card, he will bid 6♦. But WTF is 7♠?? Partner could be 12 ♦ with the ♠A

Case 1: [hv=pc=n&s=shkqjt32d2cakqj32&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=7d7s]133|200[/hv] 7♦: "I am making 7♦ !" Case 2: [hv=pc=n&s=shkqjt32d2cakqj32&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1d7s]133|200[/hv] 1♦: 11~15 HCP, 2+♦ These cases are not duplicates, of course there could be different hands among the three players.

Do You Agree With the 2 Club Opening Bid?
MinorKid replied to 32519's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
I will choose 1♥. 2♣ is no on my mind cz it won't go P-P-P . If partner have ♦KQxxx and nothing opponents will surely bid something. I don't want 4♠XX nor 5♣XX on the opposite side. I will see what comes up next round. If the auction is likely to continue i bid ♦ on lowest level. If it looks dying i will force my partner to bid. (In this case if he bid ♦ I will raise 4♦, ask partner to start cue-bidding. If he bid somthing else, i revert to ♥) -
IMO after 1♦ (1♠) Pass (2♠) 5♣ (5♠) it is up to your partner to decide. If he had chosen to Pass then pass is better.

On this hand i would rather go very slowly, as a plus score is what i am just looking for, which should already give average plus score. I would try 3♣. If partner raise i am pretty sure it is based on a 4+ support that gives >50% chance for 6♣. Else, I will pull partner's 3♥/3NT or opponent's bid to lowest ♣. If partner give preference to ♦ i think 5♦ is a good spot.

DONT BID BEYOUND RKC
MinorKid replied to mike777's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I think it is cool to have a useful void. I wonder how to respond to rkc wth it among other Aces. -
It is as complicated as playing duplicated bridge in a rubber bridge manner. We don't use part scores, which can be accumated to a game, in all duplicate bridge. It is as equally convincing as to aboundant bags in duplicated Spades.
-
If the scores of NS and EW were sepatated, there can exist many circumstances where both partners coorporating each other (like NS making +60 and EW making +70, or NS making +330(Grand slam) and EW +100(NIL) ) because the score earned for you do not matter for the score for me. Then the scores would really depend on luck (the strength of their hands). If the scores of both pairs differ (i.e. NS - EW = NS Net Score), it is difficult to handle overtricks. According to the rule, in two-to-two family match, the bags would accumate until the end of the game (i.e. Someone reached 500 points). In the final four-to-four team match this would also work too. But In round robin duplicate, It is difficult to decide how each pair would accumate their bags as they play too few boards before moving to next round. Maybe it would be best to aboundant bags and give per-count penalty directly to each overtrick.

contract from other room
MinorKid replied to gwnn's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
If you were above average, you can bid the contract immediately according to the norm result. That way you cannot be fallen behind. :) If you were below average, you can try your luck to set the contract higher for extra bonus if the norm result indicates overtricks. For example, Other tables were 3NT +3. If you find a minor suit fit early you can try for 6C/6D. -

Double Fit. Choice over 3NT
MinorKid replied to MinorKid's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Sorry but in our system, 1♦ 2♣ 3♥ is natural. (Showing Heart Stopper(s), 5+♦, could have ♠ stopper) I am wondering what sort of hands can justify the 3♦ bid from the bidding 1♦ 2♣ 3♣(GF) 3♦ ? Should it be a better support like ♦AQx ? Or should it be a hand without any major stoppers ? Also, I am wondering in what situations the 4♣ bid is to retreat and in what situations the 4♣ bid is to invite slam, as sometimes our players mess with that. Thanks -
Double Fit. Choice over 3NT

[hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp2cp3cp3dp3sp3np4cp4dp5np7cppp]133|100[/hv] 3♠, 4♦ are now cue bids. 5NT : GSF 7♣ : Two of Top Three Honors Any comment to those bidding so far ? Thanks for reply Bidding at the other table : [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1dp2c2h3cp3nppp]133|100[/hv] -

Opponents Were Asleep... 1♦ : 11~15 no any 5 card Major 2♣ : 12+ 11+ 4+♣ 3♣ : 14~15 4+♣fit, 4+♦ 3♦ : Double Fit, although diamonds may be 4-3 (In case Opener is 4-1-4-4, 3-2-4-4 open 1NT 4-0-4-5 ...) 3♠ : Cue Bid / Stopper Bid 3NT : Stopper in Hearts. My questions are: Is the 3♦ correct ? What could north do beyond 3NT ? If north wants to take actions beyond 3NT(like cue bidding...), should he had bid 3♥ instead of 3♠?
