  1. MP unfavorable and you hold ♠54 ♥QJT98765 ♦T ♣92 Partner deals playing SAYC and starts the auction 1♣ (1♦) pick your poison
  2. What do you consider dominating at 8:45AM Saturday CDT I checked and only 10% of online BBO players had a US flag.
  3. I agree it is a sim case but think the results will show that 7222 is a %age pass and 7321 is a %age go.
  4. 2NT-3♦ 3♠-4♣ 4♦-4♠ 4NT-5♦ 5♠-5NT 7♥
  5. God I hate to enter into this debate. Nevertheless when do you start swinging to a team you expect to thrash you? Do you wait until you are down or is a particularly swingy hand enough? I mean how many hands do you expect in a 64 board match that are of a nature that can generate large swings? Is it a good strategy to try to swing them when you get them or do you wait til the last 16 boards?
  6. West gets the vast majority of the blame IMO
  7. assuming your LHO is dealer and opens 3 or 4♣ then after P P, you make the Piltch call of 7♥. :D Now back to reality assuming no interference then you open 2♣ rebidding 3♦ and your problems start when partner now calls 3♥. The bidding can progress from this point in divergent ways but be sure you get to at least 6♥
  8. in bridge terms this refers to newsgroup rec.games.bridge generally accessible thru google
  9. did you mean a mandatory 6♣ call for North :)
  10. it let's you claim faster if there is a stiff Q♣?
  11. besides it's more fun than the finesse B)
  12. generally agree but I allow my partners to hold ♣AKxxxxx or AQxxxxx. So yes if partner is barred from preempting if he holds the A in his suit I can see where 3NT could never be right not that I am wildly happy bidding 3NT as it is. IMV there is a good argument for just passing if this is MP (I'd have to go back and look to see if it is) I don't think jumping to 5♣ is a whole lot better if any than bidding 3NT.
  13. Smolen Texas Transfers Ogust Namyats Sandwich 1N Gambling 3N Lebensohl Cappelletti DONT changed to approximate order of value
  14. So how many defending pairs failed to hold up the ♣A? maybe not so much a failure as an inability to hold up. :)
  15. 3♦ in this auction TMK is not a standard method of showing a strong hand with long ♦ and longer ♣.
  16. since 2♦ is a reverse IMO 3♦ would be the splinter and 4♦ would be exclusion Wouldn't 3♦ be a Jump Shift by opener, showing a 2 suited game forcing hand? Althought it seems wasteful to need a Reverse (2D) and a Jump Shift (3D), so maybe in this case 3D could have a meaning other than jump shift, showing strength. Splinters are fairly common, so I'm surprised more tables didn't see this bid. No, that is what 2♦ shows
