IIRC on a side note, Soloway used to prefer to convert to 4M with HH after his partner transferred to the M and rebid 3NT. Consequently I suspect trump quality is the critical factor in making the decision to correct to 4M and the 3NT call should better show poor ♠ rather than a more balanced hand.

Caveat! these are definitely IMO and not something I read somewhere. 1]Don't bother with Stayman if your side's assets are in the 28-30HCP range as 3NT is generally safer and at MPs usually makes the same # of trix as 4M 2]If your side's assets are in the 29+ - 32HCP range and you have no easy way to find out if you have a 9+ card major suit fit then use Stayman instead of transferring to the M for your slam try auction.

Not possible? Not only possible, but slammish and forcing in our world. No other way to create a force with club support. AKXX XX A KQXXXX is one of many hands "possible". With lots of lesser hands, responder would have just placed the contract, knowing opener has a weaker weak NT with 3 spades. if you are slammish then pass is still possible? I was answering OPs 2 questions in sequence. I.e. the call was not only forcing but passing was inconcievable <_<

There was no methodolgy in place to show that a hand has extras if 2♦ is acceptable then 2NT would have to show extras. Out of curiosity what sort of hand would a 3♦ call show in lieu of 2♦s

I would Dbl with this. Pretty sure most would. 1♥ for me but then I like to have support for all unbid suits with a minimal X just too old fashioned I guess ;)

Still, East might as well have bid 3♠, non? West was probably shooting for too small a target as anything higher than 3♥ should go down

Both partscores making, you are very optimistic :P I have no idea really, I don't have very much experience with forcing NT anymore, playing semi-forcing NT it is an easy pass. Seems like a good hand for your favorite thing...a sim! Hands like this show why I think forcing NT sucks :) so from the previous we can infer that IYO semi forcing 1NT semi-hoovers? :)

Does your traffic byte the dust while the non payer's traffic goes through to meet "net neutrality" mandated regulations? Or as the owner do you get to pump your traffic through while the streamer gets throttled back by a third?
