  1. WHAT!!! You stole my call! <_< I just much prefer having 1NT promise at least 2♠s and 2♣s is not an option as I open 1♦ and rebid 2♣ with both xy45 and xy54 minimum openers.
  2. Is 4♣ really not forcing after 3NT in this auction? I would expect it to show more controls than 5♣ which should be more about distribution than controls IMO.
  3. you neglected to mention the bacteria are there because the gulf bottom leaks the equivalent of an Exxon Valdez spill every year.
  4. Worried? Partner has less than half of the missing HCP and you're worried that he can cover 4 of your 5 losers? That's because whenever he holds this hand his partner is dealt ♠Axx ♥AKx ♦Axx ♣xxxx or ♠xxxx ♥AKx ♦Axx ♣Axx so he doesn't have to worry about the large morass of 1NT hands where 5♦ has 3 fast losers ;)
  5. I wonder if a simulation would generate probabilities for 3♥ and 4♥ contracts that match the current vote %age ;)
  6. No. Counting both Hx and JTx is the same as counting half of JTx. Nevertheless the simulation shows some anomaly exists either in the calculations or the simulation assumptions
  7. This is a minimum w/r?? you are just upset about the robust ♥ suit ;)
  8. and 4♠ would be a ♠ control asking about ♥ quality? :P
  9. Q♠>8♥>5♦>>>>>>>>>>any ♣ Clearly the danger is are you giving the opps their ninth trick with a ♠ lead. The red card choices clearly believe you do and struggle to find an entry to partner's hand and hope that partner's ♠ return is enough to break the hand. Finally a ♣ lead hopes that declarer will be forced to put our partner on lead before he collects his 9th trick.
  10. This is why we need public polls! WRONG! not that I chose 3♥ as I thought 4♥ was a WTP. Still you get more honest results if they are anonymous. That's what you think! (I was the 3H voter) :P that's what needs to be fixed those misclik votes should be correctable :P
  11. well so much for the easy part :P After the T♥ holds what do you do? :)

  13. I have no doubt this is the set of standard response but they strike me, a non-user of multi, as a counter productive. I say that because I think the 3♣ and 3♦ call are subject to giving the opps useful calls when you have the worst hands rather than the best. The 3♥ and 3♠ are at their preemptive best when the opps get no other useful calls than what they already had. Plus IMO this helps your partner screw with the opps to your best advantage.
  14. 1) 2♠ 2) unless it shows extras I call 3♦ and pass 3♥ 3) I would just call 5♦ as we might have 2♥ losers
  15. I have some questions. 1) Is 6♥ p/c? (this assumes no suit quality controls are in place) 2) Is 3♦ forcing? 3) Is 2NT forcing? Actually I assume it probably is the lowest forcing call. 4) What responses do you use to 2NT? As to plan I expect we have 12 winners if we don't have 2 losers first. So the objective is to either gamble the opps don't find their 2 tricks and leap to 6♠. This will not really be a piltch bid if there are any requirements on opener's suit quality. Otherwise make an extensive effort to discover if partner has a 1st or 2nd round ♣ control.
  16. 1) 1♠,1NT, or 2♣ just don't pass. 2) I'm already a passed hand so XX 3) I'm already a passed hand so yes
  17. why not 12-14(15) and 2NT stronger? looks better to me. WHAT! and leave extra room below game to explore for slam!! It's not like they were in a GF (NOT) and besides 2/1ers sneer at the fast arrival principle. :)
  18. South needs to learn that when the hand holder where his cards came from is painted red that means DANGER! If he is playing on BBO then in the upper left hand corner of his screen when the top and bottom polygons are colored red that means DANGER! North was penalized for making a slightly risky 2♥ overcall and which in this partnership south took to mean "♣s" :)
  19. my initial inclination is to play a second ♦ reasoning that you have choosen the right suit to attack first and LHO has ducked the ♦A,his entry suit for ♥, hoping you will switch. The possible problem with leading a ♠ to win in dummy is that if RHO has both Aces and now attacks ♠ or if LHO wins the second ♦ lead and switches to a second ♠ lead. So you need to hope for 32♦ with LHO holding the A
  20. What else?! You left off WTP! ;)
  21. You see, 2/1 has that luxury. Once a game force is established it isn't necessary to get to slam "real quickly". Strain first, then level. I didn't mean bid it fast I meant it gets hard to reach slam quickly. One of 2/1's difficulties is getting players to limit their hands so at least one partner has a feel for slam chances.
  22. and extra strength clearly does not meet that definition? If nobody shows extras it is really tough to get to slam real quickly
