  1. You don't even need to make 1M forcing. Ya you do
  2. Yeah why assume partner can only have 3 card support? OP CLEARLY stated 3+ spades so it wasn't even questionable.
  3. Why cant partner have a stiff and bid 1S p 2S? Also LOL you think partner bidding game with any 9-10 and signing off with any 7-8 is closer to accurate than if you bid 3C and partner uses their judgement? Wat?
  4. You mean to ask if I would recommend bidding 6H or 7H, don't you? I would recommend bidding 6H, in view of apparent prevailing expert opinion here that 7 is only a 50-50 prospect. I understand the answer might not be the same under a different scoring system, or toward the end of a tourament. If your partner shows 1 king you think you are 50/50 to make slam? LOL edit: Ok cascade beat me to that one.
  5. 2S michaels is totally fine with this kind of suit quality. I think overcalling 4H is reasonable also, and would say it was clear if you had KQJxxxx and ATxxx.
  6. 1) CA 2) D Not that much to say, hand 1 is kind of interesting between a trump and the CA, I think the CA is better since we might be able to cash 3 minor suit tricks and if we lead a D they might run the majors. Leading the CA might set up the king while they ruff and enable them to get a useful pitch though. I think the latter scenario is less likely. Hand 2, Qxxxx is just much better than Jxxxx. Jxxxx blows a trick very often, and Qxxxx is more likely to set up a trick. Either major lead would be horrible.
  7. I would have gone down two if I had not been able to discard a spade on CK. LOL
  8. FWIW the optimal strat imo if you don't know if partner plays spec K or number of K is 5N then if partner bids: 6C either 0 or the CK bid 6D: Partner will bid 7H with the DK, or 6H with 0 (he doesn't have the DQ so if he showed 0 and thinks you're asking for third round control he will bid 6H). 6D either 1 or the DK: Bid 7, you are cold opp the DK and cold opposite 1 half the time, and on a hook opposite 1 the other half. 6H either 2 or 0: Bid 7, you are cold or on a hook. This is slightly better than jumping to 7, unless you think partner might pass over 5N-6C-6D with 0.
  9. BTW I didn't mean to imply he is out of danger of dying, it's still possible, just a much less likely occurance than even a few days ago from what I've heard. Curtis is one of the most genuinely nice and fun people I have ever met. He is also a huge fighter, and if there is a way to beat this I'm sure he will. He's a truly amazing and kind person.
  10. OMG THE CLUB KING MIGHT BE MISSING?!?!?!?!
  11. Yeah it's true. He was in big danger of dying for a while, but his lungs have gotten better. He is still very sick though, and is in a medically induced coma right now. His wonderful girlfriend Phyllis and Joe are still with him in Brazil.
  12. Depends, if responder does bid 4♣ then yes, but I wouldn't crime him too much for just bidding 4♥. Your partner bid keycard when you showed the minimum with 4 trumps, but if you had shown extras with 4 trumps you think he would have signed off? lol? That was if I'd shown a good 19+ to 22 rather than a bad 23-24. oh ok I get it sry
  13. Easy pass if RHO had passed, easy double when RHO bids. Sure they might make but down 2 seems more way more likely when RHO was under tremendous pressure to bid and we seem to have 4 tricks. I mean one time pard have the DA? lol
  14. void in diamonds is typical, takeout but partner will still pass very often at such a high level so you have good defense. Stiff D is possible with KTxx ATxx x KTxx or whatever, but Kxxx Qxxxx --- Axxxx type would be typical.
  15. Depends, if responder does bid 4♣ then yes, but I wouldn't crime him too much for just bidding 4♥. Your partner bid keycard when you showed the minimum with 4 trumps, but if you had shown extras with 4 trumps you think he would have signed off? lol?
  16. Yeah I hate doubling when the 3H bidder bids 5H, imo if theyre not crazy that's usually 7-5 or 7-4-2-void maybe. I know I know people say I never double in these auctions etc but doubling them with 1 trick when they have a distributional freak and their partner has a fit seems bad.
  17. in these mindgames odd numbered levels are equivalent and so are even numbered levels? Correct, common situation in poker hands.
  18. 1) 4S to begin with and pass now. 2) double
  19. Yeah I was thinking this when I read your post, but it seems backwards. Honestly if a good opp told me preemptive (assuming I'm a good player) I'd have no problem with it, but I think against bad opps you should go out of your way to say it.
  20. umm no. low to the ten you have to guess what to do on the next round, and you won't always guess right. For instance you cannot pick up KQx on left AND Hx on your right by playing low to the ten. You can pick up Hx on left and KQx on left by leading low to the jack however.
  21. Yes you are right, I can't read sorry. My above post still applies as I would upgrade it to 2C 2N. If you don't think it's worth an upgrade (lol?) then you should open 2N.
  22. It doesn't. As I said in my earlier post, the word "preemptive" describes the objective of the bid, without specifying any particular strength. Ok, so I think if someone asks and you say preemptive you are not telling them anything about the types of hands you are preempting on. This seems against the spirit of full disclosure since you likely know what types of hands your partner preempts on. Not saying you are being unethical or anything, I just think this is bad disclosure. Obviously practical considerations exist and you can never say EVERYTHING about a bid that you might know when it comes to something like preempting style, but I think a general range and if it is often a 5 card suit is not too much info.
