  1. There are plenty of things I don't like about Trump either. He is a narcissistic loudmouth with the morals of an alley cat. And I thought his saying McCain was not a hero was despicable.
  2. From VA.gov: "The flag is to be flown at half-staff at all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels in the Washington, D.C., area on the day and day after the death of a United States senator, representative, territorial delegate, or the resident commissioner from the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It should also be flown at half-staff on all federal facilities in the state, congressional district, territory, or commonwealth of these officials." So it appears that protocol was followed. As I understand it, the President, by proclamation, may order flags back to half-staff until the body is buried and the President has done that.
  3. Well I have read in several places that Bill got $500K for one speech in Moscow and that the Clinton Foundation got $140M after the Uranium One deal. Is that not true? Then there's this. You said it was all for the naive and misinformed. Please inform me.
  4. So all of it is untrue? It doesn't really affect my life one way or the other. I'm just curious.
  5. "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. "And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass."
  6. I didn't say they bought cars. I said they got driver licenses which automatically provides a photo ID and also automatically registered them to vote. What could be easier than that?
  7. I have no problem with that. Both my granddaughters were automatically registered to vote when they got driver licenses. But they have to show those driver licenses when they show up at the polls.
  8. Maybe not a good example, but I think you see my point. To be allowed to vote you should be registered to vote and be able to prove you're who you say you are when you get to the polling place....not just walk in and say, "Gimme a ballot."
  9. The New York Times is reporting that the Mueller probe is now trying to put together an obstruction of justice case against the President based on his tweets, TV appearances, and public conversations. If true...and it must be true if reported by the NYT...it suggests that Mueller has no credible evidence of any wrongdoing by the President and is now trying to manufacture a crime from acts that are completely legal. This renders your question, though simple, moot.
  10. It's terrible! It's almost as bad as Obama promising that your premiums will decrease by 20% and if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. I'm heartsick.
  11. It really is. Especially so since Hill and Bill were flat broke when they left the White House. Apparently it's only treasonous to deal with the Russians if you're a Republican.
  12. Horse hockey. Where I live...and probably where you live too...photo ID is required to buy Sudafed. And you're suggesting that people be allowed to vote without proving they're who they say they are but they have to prove who they are to buy Sudafed? You must be smoking Sudafed (or a derivative thereof).
  13. Maybe the same things Obama and the Russian ambassador were talking about when Obama assured the Russian President he'd have "more flexibility" on missile defense systems after his next election. Or maybe what Bill Clinton was talking about when he pulled down $500,000 for one speech in Moscow after which the Obama administration with HRC as SOS gave Putin the rights to 20% of our uranium supplies. It's all very puzzling.
  14. The four dissenting votes in the travel ban ruling are a perfect example.
  15. LOL. HRH Hillary's in the White House? Spare me. You guys are the ones who need to get over it.
  16. Please tell us who appointed you as judge and jury of who's "irresponsible".
  17. Absolutely nothing other than Ms. Wolf raising herself a wee bit from near obscurity and hopefully (for her) raising her ratings for her upcoming talk show on Netflix. For those who enjoy that type trash that is the type trash they will enjoy. I'm like Sam Goldwyn........"Gentlemen, include me out."
  18. I thought the following from Jason Riley (a black man) writing in the WSJ was especially appropriate on the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination: After remarking on disproportionately high inner-city crime rates, King told a black congregation in St. Louis that “we’ve got to do something about our moral standards.” He added: “We know that there are many things wrong in the white world, but there are many things wrong in the black world too. We can’t keep on blaming the white man. There are things we must do for ourselves.” King’s successors mostly ignore this advice, preferring instead to keep the onus on whites. Where King tried to instill in young people the importance of personal responsibility and self-determination notwithstanding racial barriers, his counterparts today spend more time making excuses for counterproductive behavior and dismissing criticism of it as racist.
  19. Hostiles. Beautiful scenery, powerful acting, heartwarming storyline.
  20. I read an article on MSN today about 13 places around the world that are being ruined by tourism. One of them was Amsterdam. Here was their assessment: Amsterdam has long been a popular vacation destination for party-loving travelers, but chief marketing executive of Amsterdam, Frans van der Avert, told Travel Weekly, "A lot of smaller historic cities in Europe are getting destroyed by visitors. Vacation rental sites, like Airbnb, have had negative effects on the city, according to van der Avert, who said that vacation rentals have taken over the city's canal district. In response to a rise in tourism, the city has put restrictions on Airbnb in place so that a rental listing cannot have more than four people at a time, and cannot rent apartments for more than 60 days a year." Perhaps you should do your part by not putting down your carbon footprint in Amsterdam.
  21. Yep, son. Walt Kelly was a genius. I really miss him. "Deck us all with Boston Charlie."
  22. I saw Darkest Hour this afternoon. Both the casting and the acting are superb. The final scene where Churchill addresses Parliament with, "Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old." brought tears to my eyes.
