Hi guys. Just passing through, drinking a little whiskey, and holding a good thought for all of you. Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all; plus, A fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2019, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of the other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regards to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishees. (disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. All I can tell you is what we do at our club. The guy I mentioned in my previous post sat out his 30-day suspension as did his wife, then they came right back to playing four sessions/week just like before but without the unpleasantness the other players were putting up with before. We have drifted away from the original question in this thread which asked how would you discipline a player who walked out of a game thereby ruining the whole session for 15 other people. In our club's case it would be up to the Board of Directors who would probably award the offender with a 30-day suspension which would be richly deserved. We don't suffer jerks very well.

The key words here are "disturb others". If a player wants to browbeat his partner in private that's fine. But nobody else wants to hear it. The two players in our club with the most masterpoints are a husband/wife pair. For years he verbally beat her up. She just sat there and took it, but it's unpleasant for everybody else within earshot. He was warned twice to cut it out and chose to ignore the warnings. So the Board suspended him for 30 days. He may still be beating her up after they get home, but he doesn't do it at the club anymore.

Our club, of which I am the manager, has a Zero Tolerance Policy and behavior such as this is specifically mentioned. Here's the Policy fwiw.

Winston, I will answer this question by asking a question….not nice I know….but here goes: When will you, your fellow democrats, congresspeople, and senators accept the fact that Donald J. Trump is the duly elected President of the United States of America and start working to try to help him be successful? All I’ve seen you do so far is bitch and moan and try to undo the results of the 2016 election because your girl lost. As I have previously stated, I am not a Trump fan. I think he is an immoral loudmouth narcissist. I do not plan to invite him and Melania over for single-malt Scotch and ribeyes on Saturday night. But, regardless of his shortcomings, I do think he is working to improve the lives of average Americans and that’s all that is important to me. As the saying goes, “A lot more would be accomplished if it didn’t matter who got the credit.” With that said, I think I will follow Ken’s lead and exit this forum. I’m not going to change your mind and you aren’t going to change mine. And when you get right down to where the rubber meets the road nothing that either of us says on an internet message board will have any more effect on the great scheme of things than a fart has on a tornado. So I bid you adieu and wish you well with your future endeavors.

Not cranky. Very thoughtful. I've had the same thoughts. We are paying these people a pretty decent wage "to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity". We need more statesmen and fewer politicians. I remember watching Sheldon Whitehouse questioning Brett Kavanaugh about farting when he was 16 years old and thinking, "We're paying this guy $174,000/year to question a Supreme Court Nominee about farting when he was a teenager?" God (if there is one) help us.

African-American, Hispanic-American, and Asian-American unemployment rates have all recently reached the lowest levels in history. Women’s unemployment rate has reached the lowest level in 65 years. Veterans’ unemployment rate recently reached its lowest level in nearly 20 years. The unemployment rate for Americans without high school diplomas is at the lowest level ever recorded, and the Trump administration’s new workforce initiative will deliver job-training to more than 4 million Americans. Manufacturing jobs are being created at the fastest pace in over three decades. Nearly half-a-million manufacturing jobs have been created since the president took office. In the month of July alone, nearly 40,000 new manufacturing jobs were added. Almost 3.9 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps since President Trump’s election. The president crafted the largest tax cut in a generation, which led to savings for more than 80 percent of households and pay raises and bonuses for 4 million American workers. President Trump protected American taxpayers by asking Congress to rescind $15.4 billion in unused appropriations. The president has hired/nominated an impressive number of women to senior positions in his administration, including the first female director of the CIA, Gina Haspel. He’s appointed two Supreme Court justices, and the Senate has now confirmed 26 appellate court judges of his choosing, as well as Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. He successfully negotiated the return of four American hostages in one month’s time. President Trump’s Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Action has exceeded the 2:1 mandate, eliminating 22 job-killing regulations for every one new regulatory action. President Trump signed the “Right to Try” Act to give terminally ill patients a chance to try lifesaving treatments. The Department of Homeland Security arrested 796 MS-13 gang members and associates in FY 2017, an 83 percent increase from the previous year. The president signed the VA Mission Act, which allows veterans who don’t live near a VA facility or can’t get an appointment in a timely manner to seek medical care from private health-care providers. Signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which provides an $82 billion funding increase for the Department of Defense over the current period, including a $617 billion Pentagon budget, $22 billion for the nuclear weapons program and $69 billion for U.S. military efforts abroad, as well as new tanks, ships, and planes. The package includes a salary boost for service members, about a 2.6 percent raise—the biggest military pay raise in nearly a decade. I view all the above as positives. Where do you think the serious trouble lies?

On second thought, I am rejoicing. Seeing the joy in the eyes of Justice Kavanaugh's wife and daughters knowing that their husband/father had survived a putrid and uncorroborated attack on his character and risen above it to take a seat on the SCOTUS was very uplifting. And seeing Justice Kennedy administer the oath to his former clerk was also heartwarming. RBG's snoring was somewhat of a drawback but I was able to ignore it. She has exactly the same number of votes as Kavanaugh. One.

But the sun will still come up tomorrow and we can all hope for "a more perfect Union". I think I'll go down to St. Simons Island for a few days and drink some more rum.

John, let me preface this by saying that after long and careful consideration I have been unable to come up with one thing on Earth that I consider less significant than your opinion of me; actually your attempted insults are laughable. With that said I will repeat what I said earlier. Read it carefully. In no case does the victim of a a crime...no matter how credible or sympathetic...get to dictate the terms of the investigation.
