Copied from - Support Double Bidding Sequence 5*: S - W - N - E 1♣ Pass 1♦ 1♠ Double 5*: This particular auction, whereby both Minor suits have been bid by the partnership, may also become ambiguous since it is not clear whether the double of the opening bidder signifies a Support Double or a Negative Double showing a 4-card Heart suit. Again, a solid partnership agreement is necessary, especially for this particular bidding sequence.

Maybe Eric Rodwell didn't considered 1♣ - p - 1♦ in it :)

why GIB keep silence with decent hand of game force??
georgi replied to lycier's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
Basic GIB passes as cannot find a call. Advanced GIB hesitates after simulation between 3♣/3♥ and something like 70/30 split, but unlikely to outpass it. It really looks like a hand where certain call it's not easy to be given. 3NT and 4♠ looks ok with that layout. -
It will be addressed for review of 1M - 2♣ and maybe further followns.

What about hand having ♠AK ♥AQ ♦x ♣AKQxxxx Up to this moment XX says nothing but 3 cards in hearts. So if promising spades hangs all the way up, the complaint would be that it's impossible to bid clubs as GIB would always try to pull in spades. Even if partner-GIB didn't bid 1M/2M at all. How would a hand having one suit would force in that auction without promising 3+/4+ in 4th suit? Or just bid 4M/5m and all settled? Next time would be 1♣ - p - 1♠ - X and if that promises 4+♥ 4+ ♦ and 4th seat has solid hearts? Will that person willing to be pulled in diamonds contract with singleton heart or wants to play in hearts? Certainly in different sequences there might be a holes along, but question about strong one suiter hand after two suits by opps would remain.

Thanks for reporting. Fixed in v29. Sometimes GIB used to find 3NT if in doubt for further call but having enough points for or being in GF. Now it won't be used without stopper. That fix covers variety of cases where 3NT used to come randomly ( assuming opponents introduced a suit already ).

GIB don't understand splinter on the evaluation hand
georgi replied to lycier's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
4♦ would show ♦A which GIB doesn't have. 4♣ is still 13+TP so to bid 4♠ showing the Ace GIB has it need more points then it has at the moment. So over 4♥ you could show ♦A using 5♦ which as tested GIB happily will be glad to hear and bid 6♥. as 5♦ will show stronger hand by you. -

Thanks for reporting. it will be fixed in next version.

6HCP + 2TP ( sgl ) + 1TP (doubleton without honor) = 9TP
-
Included in v29. It captures 1-3M opening - 3-4M raises - 4NT
-
Thanks for reporting. V29 will contain some changes about cuebid-overcall of 2weak opening. Close to Michaels type. 2♦ - 3♦ -> majors 2M - 3M -> 5+ in OM and a minor 2M - 4M -> strong minors 2M - 4NT -> just shape minors, less strength than above. Currently it shows just 19+TP and nothing more about shape.
-
Should it be obvious cuebid when partner shows two suits bidding in other than agreed to be cue? Is 1♥ - 1♠ 2♠ - 4♥ splinter or cuebid?
-
In next version, v29, preemptive explanations will be showing 11-HCP for level4,5 and 10-HCP for level 3. Instead of as they are now, always 9-HCP. That's for seats 1st and 2nd. For seats 3 and 4, these 3X,4X,5X requirement could vary. Opening here looks not so strange. Almost 8 likely tricks, so -2 in equal vulnerabilities.
-
Thanks for reporting. Fix will be applied in v29.
-
Some changes in forthcoming v29 about these openings: 3X will have the requirement of 3+ 8421 or QJ and better, so it won't be able to open with 10xxxxxx or Jxxxxxx in suit. Explanation is also tweaked about 10-HCP instead of current 9-HCP. So an explanation of 3♦ would look like: 3♦ - Preempt -- 7+ ♦; 10- HCP; 3+ 8421 HCP in ♦; 6+ total points Still preemptive logic about -2/-3 etc based on vulnerability will be followed. not just some 7th suit. 2X weak openings will be extended to 6-7 cards suit. However they will be after 3X priorities so if a hand is good enough will open 3X, if not that type, but satisfying 2X openings such call will be given. 2X in v28 are limited to exactly 6 cards, and thus they are missing some of the hands which can't fit neither in 3X , or 1X openings and are passed at first round.

In v29, GIB will raise the 5M/5♦ ( with fit in ♦ ) if it had 3/4 key cards instead of 0/1 and respectively answered 5♣/5♦ where partner had bid 5M as eventually stop bid. Explanation about that raise will say 3/4 key cards. So partner will have the chance to proceed if required.
-
2NT took enough one-two extra levels when you go for slam. And as of its purpose which asks for shortness, both balanced hands would miss the chance to cuebid anyway. Could bid 4NT and see 2A, but what happens with hand like: ♠AJxxx ♥xxx ♦AKx ♣xx Even more controls, but slam would go easily down unless KQ are onside. That still will be hand to rebid 4♠ over 2NT Currently GIB followons might need some improvement after 1M - 2♣ 2M - 3M or even better 1M - 2♣ 2♦ - 2M which keeps plenty levels. But as the moment GIB would bid only Aces at 1st example, so you won't get information for ♥K or K♦ which would be precious in case with Qxx. Probably something could be included in next v29. But usage of 2NT doesn't left many options to opener with 11-21 range.
-
2NT shows 20-21. Up to this moment you showed 14HCP. There are 6 left at least or 7, as you cannot get them from ♥AJ only you must have ♥AQ or ♥AQJ, so GIB obviously decided that no matter what and ditched one card. Supposedly there wasn't deal which GIB considered where declarer has only 19HCP.
-
Thanks for reporting. Fixed in v29. Also new suit will have and forcing in explanation Free bid -- 5+ ♥; 11+ total points; forcing Top priority is fit raise like here, otherwise 2N or rebid opening suit.
-
As long as i recall, neither in copied previous post or somewhere previously i haven't said 2M or 3M is not forcing. I said there are issues with expressing the hand after 2♣ - 2♦ 2M/3M - and here. because of the second negative calls and etc. Also the point was rather uplifting instead of discouraging that it won't be fixed, but the 2♣ opening and followons will have boost in v29. So not reason for paranoia.

1) No, at the moment GIB opens with 11+HCP level 1. And especially with both majors that hand cannot open 2♠ either. 2) Yes. With 5+4+. With 5-5 higher as rank, with 4-4 hand will bid lower. But with 4minor-4major, will bid first major. So here if the hand was 4♥-4♦, the call will be 3♥, not 3♦, as supposedly partner wants major first. So generally with 4-4 minors, 4-4 majors, it will bid lower first. 3) It will be if partner doesn't cuebid. 4♣ or cuebidding oppening settles that suit as trump. How then you will distinguish cuebid from new suit at level 4 after if it says just 5+4+ cards in majors But let say auction went: 1♣ - X - 2♣ - 3♠ p - 4♦ - p - 4♥ now will be hearts, not cue for GIB Or similarly when partner of opener is not involved at all. 1♥ - X - p - 3♦ p - 3♠ - p - 4♣, all suits are natural
-
Thanks for reporting. Psyche didn't entirely confuse EW GIBs. It could be regular opening with 11HCP and North to raise based on some shortness. Problem was in rules in for competitive jump in suit. Fixed in v29. At the moment, for GIB in this kind of auction, 3♣ by East doesn't show both majors, so jump in new suit or something else depend on particular auction would be used. 3M showed 4+ cards and 10-12TP.
-
With 21 you would bid 1♥ - p - 2♥ - X p - 2♠ - p - 3♥ 3♥ shows 18+TP and it's forcing to at least 3♠, although not 100%GF.
-
Point taken, and it will be reviewed. As there are also included rules where it opens following simply with losers -2/-3 based on vulnerability. So either explanation will be fixed in v29, or openings. I will try to add more information once it's known which part is changed.
