  1. 3♠ shows 16+ TP and same shape. Should be a top range, but at the moment is not really limited. Deducing 3♥ would show 18+, so 3♠ is probably 16-18, although not emphasized.
  2. Pass is not good for sure. But for 2M currently there is a restriction with just 6 cards. Hand is too strong for 3M, and unfortunately there is a gap which bothers to open 1M due 1st position. That will be addressed for review as it obviously it hardly find place after once it's passed. Even bidding 2♥ later wouldn't make partner comfortable it shows what has. About 4♠, explanation is common as captures many cases, but the quality script partner expects for self-approved suit here is if 6+ ( 4/5 honors or at least AKQ ) , if 7th little lighter. Note the vulnerability also. You will hardly be expected to make sacrifice in VvsNV.

For opening 3M in V vs NV is also not possible. It would be addressed for review anyway. Bidding 2♥ instead of 2♦ is a problem which will be fixed in next v29. #9709 - #5 [hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=pn|JackRe,~~M14196,~~M14194,~~M14195|st||md|3S2348QAHD9QC278KA%2CS9TKH24569JD36C46%2CS567JHTD2TJAC35TQ%2C|rh||ah|Board%205|sv|n|mb|p|mb|1H|an|Major%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%20|mb|1S|an|One-level%20overcall%20--%205%2B%20S%3B%208-17%20HCP%3B%209-|mb|4H|an|Preemptive%20raise%20--%204%2B%20H%3B%209-%20HCP%3B%206%2B%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|4S|an|17%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20S%3B%2019%20total%20poi|mb|p|mb|p|mb|5H|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|5S|an|2%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%20|mb|6H|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|d|an|2%2B%20H%3B%2017%20HCP%3B%20twice%20rebiddable%20S%3B%2019%20tot|mb|p|mb|6S|an|2%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2010-12%20total%20points%20|mb|d|an|5%2B%20H%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%20|mb|p|mb|p|mb|p|pc|C6|pc|CT|pc|CJ|pc|CA|pc|DQ|pc|D6|pc|D2|pc|DK|pc|HQ|pc|S2|pc|H9|pc|HT|pc|D9|pc|D3|pc|DA|pc|D8|pc|SJ|pc|H3|pc|S3|pc|SK|pc|C4|pc|C3|pc|C9|pc|CK|pc|SA|pc|S9|pc|S5|pc|H8|pc|SQ|pc|ST|pc|S6|pc|H7|pc|S8|pc|HJ|pc|S7|pc|D7|pc|C2|pc|H5|pc|CQ|pc|D5|pc|DT|pc|D4|pc|C7|pc|H6|pc|DJ|pc|HK|pc|C8|pc|H4|pc|C5|pc|HA|pc|S4|pc|H2|]400|300[/hv] Book and most common bid is pass, though, but after simulation unexpressed hand by North, singleton in opps' suit and super support probably made it bid more. 4♠ shows more then AQ for GIB at the moment, so it doesn't expect trump trick for opps. Despite "error", it's still looks like 75% slam, so not so bad effort anyway. Just being 25% lucky, instead of 75.
  4. That hand is close to mixed invite - 3♦. And from lie to better bid has some difference. Here, there is no lie as 2♠ shows what GIB has. Just there is better bid probably. Could be 3♠ or 3♦, but explanation is correct.
  5. But on the other hand, imagine you're in the middle of nice but hard game. Or more likely declarer of such contract loses connection. Sitting new player who's unaware of the past 6-7 cards and makes silly mistake and your slam goes down. Or opponent's slam, which would be unfair for left opponent or whoever credit for that game is. Is it better? And yes, ask for redeal will swipe off temp-GIBs from the table.
  6. Currently after opening 2X weak, 2NT asks for feature or somehow entry in hand outside trump. other suit than opening shows such - QJ or better and also shows better hand. Problem is if there is no entry and still good hand, like better trumps and some queen in doubletons. So replying 3 in opening is little ambigious as currently GIB has no other way to show positive hand except with feature. Replying 3NT shows only super solid suit headed by AKQ. But with hand like ♠AKxxxx♥Qx♦xxx♣xx GIB will reply 3♠ which will be 7-HCP and 9+TP which of course seems incorrect.
  7. For v29 it's expected a little boost after 2C opening so it would be improved for sure. Currently it contains some disadvantages bothering continuations like second negative call after 2♣ - 2♦ 2Major and as here where 2M and 3M looking really similar for 2♦ responder.
  8. Initially 1♦ - 1♠ ( or major ) - X - 2♠ - -- 3+ ♠; 6-9 total points 3♠ - Unbalanced -- 4+ ♠; 5-7 total points GIB's hand in that case has just 3TP, and it's not unbalanced, so cannot qualify with less TP under that rule as doesn't have singleton/void to compensate lack of points. Later over 3♦ things are almost similar, as like bidding 2♠, so still some TP or shape is not enough. Looking at only NS hands it seems like good -1 defense, but with Q and J in red suits confirmed by opps, North hand has neither entry, neither extras beside 4th trump.
  9. Thanks for reporting. It will be addressed for improvement.
  10. Currently opening with minor on 1st/2nd requires 12+HCP unless minor is not 6th or 5-5 ( in both minors as with 5-5 other will open 1Major ). Hand will be addressed anyway for review.
  11. Second double shows: Takeout double -- 3+ ♣; 3+ ♦; 2- ♥; 4+ ♠; 17-21 total points The fact 4♦ show cue is bad and it will be investigated for fix.
  12. Thanks for reporting. It will be addressed for improvement and mostly correction of X->cue->newsuit sequence.
  13. Thanks for reporting. Nice case based on doubled-accepted transfer. Fix will be included in v29.
  14. Thanks for reporting. 4♠ really was described as cuebid and therefore 4NT comes as blackwood over diamonds. Come after simulation for sure, based on 3NT - 4♠ 25+ TP Fixed in v29. So it shows now just spades. Plus the rest probability of cards where 2-4 cards in rest suits as 3NT denies singleton. 2- in opening, but other suits are 2+ cards. Of course as bidding 3NT cannot shows more then 5, that's the limit of spades - five. So if there is a blackwood after, it will be over spades. So with the hand displayed for North, it will pass 4♠.
  15. GIB needs 6+TP ( not HCP ) to enter 1-1 So here would be absolutely sufficient queen not to be in doubleton suit, but somewhere else. That will make 6+TP. Unlucky hand indeed. Almost as unlucky if you were on 4♠ and West had singleton club. Club - club ruff, diamond shift , club for -1.
  16. Point taken for additional improvement in same version. Also about 11+TP is about to be changed. That is only after 1♦ - 2♣. 1M - 2m is 14+. But at least won't hide major fit.
  17. Thanks for reporting. Fixed in v29. With that hand would rebid 4♠ over 2♠ : 5+ ♦; 4+ ♠; 11+ HCP; 12-14 total points
  18. Even that small change reduces probability GIB to move from 3NT to almost never. But putting 100% break is not always a solution. With the regular preemptive hand ( supposedly with major ) - 3NT would be 99,99% of the contract. But imagine opener ( GIB ) has a hand 1741, with : x AJ109xxx Kxxx x Then would you be staying on 3NT with that hand or would prefer to pull to 4H for safer contract. Supposedly partner is not void. Not all cases could be covered by GIB, but better to know it's 95% than aim for impossible 100%.
  19. Thanks for reporting. No need of the hand, i was able to replicate it. Will be fixed in next version.(v29)
  20. It's not new. It says improved. After 2♣ opening and rebid 2NT or direct 2NT opening GIB uses Smolen to show both majors after Stayman and reply 3♦. So, when opener bids 3♦ GIB bids 4th major ( with hands below slam invite values, just enough for game ). Opener now bids 3NT decline major contract and GIB used to neglect very very often that choice and to bid longer major pretending it's now 4 6+ hand. Also another issue here was sometimes GIB used to hide 5-5 majors and bid 3NT after accepted transfer pretending it has only one major. Likely spades as with more points it transfers first for hearts, then bids spades naturally showing more points.
  21. 1) GIB will rebid with 1♠ with any hand not good enough to rebid 2♠ ( strong with 5+♦ and 4+♠) or 2NT. So unless most unpleasant hand 4144, that is likely limited to 14HCP, with 4144 that could be a stronger hand as cannot jump at that point. GIB will not skip 1♠ with 4(23)4(23) hand to bid 1NT ( at least at the moment is like that ). 2) GIB plays Soloway jump shifts from none-passed hand which is 17+TP and 5+ in that major or if hand is passed, 2♥ here would be Support jump shift by passed hand -- 4+ ♦; 11- HCP; rebiddable ♥; 11-12 total points so with weak hand with major, GIB will bid first 1M, then might rebid 2M depend on rebid by opener. Might pass rebid as well depend on it.
  22. Not hard. For some of the cases it's the common behavior, but sometimes when percentage of simulating over expected behavior is too high needs to be adjusted. Sometimes are added typical "human" rules. Not for this hand for sure which is clear sequence, but sometimes when only human could navigate GIB to some auction and GIB is forced to pass, etc.
  23. Explanation tweaked so it will show now 2- cards. That will make GIB more reluctant to pull to 4major based on unknown fit, while previously it was 9+ cards promised.
  24. 1♠ shows spades just in case there is no other bid. Same with 1♥. But 1NT is superior because somebody of them have already claimed to have 4+ cards. 4+4+ in majors is certain in West, so bidding 1♠ would be forcing or not? Also what would South ( with minorish hand ) proceed over 1♠ with singleton spade. If you don't have obvious game like in this case, why would provide more information to opponents to double more easily.
  25. Why you should pull to 6♦? GIB insisting on fit in hearts. 1-TP is of course absurd, but still that's the suit you should play. With the normal lead in spades, 6♥ is easily made. Double dummy 6♦ is not always the contract you would like to be, next time would be void in hearts and 6♦ would go down. Declarer is still North, so direct diamond lead is impossible. Defense must figure it out to lead first club.
