2S would be too pessimisstic, I must say:)
-
That is true. I never said 5C is the right bid. I even cannot remember I voted 4C or 5C. I just think pass is completely wrong here. Actually, in IMPs I tend to think 5C is better than 4C.
-
I doubt this claim. LHO made a 1N response, Not a negative dbl. Then you think if I bid 2S, he will dbl for takeout? If I want to compete to 3S only, why not bid 2S and then compete to 3S if opps bid 3H?
-
I think Fred's comment worths repeating here: 'I am almost tempted to bid my diamonds (since our fit in that suit will often determine where we belong), BUT, if I do so then I may not be able to express my spade support without getting us too high. I prefer to try to get my hand off my chest anyways. Perhaps it is my singleton club and not my long diamond suit that partner needs to hear about'

A correct evaluation of the situation. Pard might have already streched to bid 3♣, so it is very likely he'll aching to pass as soon as possible. Failure to draw this simple inference will, in all likelyhood, lead to letting the matter rest in 3♥ and a bad score. Now is the time to assume one's responsibilities and bid :P The scoring is Imps. 5C not making, and especially when doubled will not be a result you would wish to bring back to the score up table. And again many have ignored the bidding! If you think your responsibilities are to bring back losing scores, well then who am I to argue.... SO I suppose you prepared excuses when opps socre 5C= or 4Cx mk at the other table when opps scored 3H= at this table.

How can 3S be preemptive? Opp dont have a fit and you own spade suit. On reflection I think 3S might not be a good bid. The problem is pd will misinterpret my meaning. He might think it ask for good trump support.
-
Perhaps there is a reason for bidding 4S alone:) In my opinion, 4S is really a horrible horrible bid. You have good trump support, a good side diamond suit, a single club. There are so much to tell pd and I think I need a few bids to fulfill this job. But you think 4S can do this job? I think you need to reconsider it:) Kind regards Hongjun
-
At least you have a singleton and good trump support. 4S shows nothing but 3 small spades. You have much more than that.
-
Interesting, I was considering 3♠ as a preemptive action... Not sure if 3S is defined preemptive in BBO advancec. But I think logically playing 3S as preemptive is wrong here. We have the spade suit, and they didnot find a fit. How could 3S be preemptive?
-
I dont think pd can do much if you pass. His 3C has clearly bid out his hand. In comparison, your 2C didnt fully discribe your hand. So I think opener should do sth rather than expect pd to act. I think pass is worse than 4/5 C. Whether the opener should bid 4C or 5C I donot know.
-
I think it is just daydream to think of slam with this hand. What can pd have for his 3H bid? Contested auction is entirely different from uncontested auction. Without interference, 3H should show 16-18 dummy playing strength and 4 card trump support. Can pd still have this kind hand after opp's intervention? NO!! With this kind hand he should bid 4H rather than 3H. 3H shows only upper min, sth like 13-15 dummy playing strength and 4 card support.
-
I bid 3S. MY hand is not min for 1S overcall, but not strong enough to jump to 4S. I dont think 3C will gain you much information. 3S should show good spade suit and pd will know what to do.
-
with balance 11 or bad 12 I would just pass. I really hate 1D nebulous with min strength.
-
Aha. Sorry then it is my bad. NOw I pass 6D. Now I didnt make any mistake:)
-
4C. If I have one more diamond I would bid 5C.
-
Hehe, 4H is so clear that I think this is the worst problem so far:)

Bidding question -- When 4NT not Blackwood
flytoox replied to epeeist's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
I think 4D has to show slam interest. Pd says he wants to play 3N. Without very clear reason you really should not bid over 3N. -
Stealing a card... in which major ?
flytoox replied to Chamaco's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I agree with this and want to add that in this sense China is definitely a "candidate". -
Vul: Both Dealer: West Sitting south, you hold: S: X H: AKT9XXXX D: AQ C: XX After two passes, east opened 1S. What do you bid now?

Bidding question -- When 4NT not Blackwood
flytoox replied to epeeist's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
Since you didn't want to play 3NT, I would think 4NT as blackwood (or RKC for ♦). Not necessary. Pd says he want to play 3n. But you says pd, we might have a slam, so you bid 4D. But pd says again, I really didnot want to play a suit contract and I dont think there is a slam, let's play 4N. I would treat 4N as natural, if he has diamond fit, he can always do sth else, cue spade, or cue 5c. I think 4H should show doubleton and suggest to play 5-2 fit. Without spade or club control, he should simply raise to 5D. -
I think you can see the summary statistics in current system. You can also get your score and compare it with panelists'. mr103's suggestion is reasonable, but i think it probablly will add Elianna's workload. After all, he is doing a no pay job. This is not so easy. Perhaps in the future the voting system will generate the result automatically rather than do it mannually. Also, it should set no revelation as default rather than revelation as default. I would bet most votes prefer not to be posted.
-
This is ridiculous I must say. I want to vote, but I dont want my score to be posted.
-
3S is rediculous I must say.
-
If pd is only concerned with club control. He can still bid 5S to invite.
