  1. [hv=pc=n&e=s9842hkqt97dacq43&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1s2hp3hp?]133|200[/hv] Teams, you're down by 21.5, this is the 5th hand in the final match of 16 boards and the previous 4 were good (you outbid them in competition and made, they went down when they outbid you, you doubled them for only one down in 4 Spades when they competed over your 4♦ which was going down, and they missed a Vulnerable game).
  2. When I started playing bridge I remember some people alerting the bidding of a suit to ask for a stopper as 'California'. I thought it was pretty funny. I also remember some people arguing that such a bid was asking for half-a-stopper in some occasions. Is there any difference? Can both (asking for a stopper or half a stopper) be played? When or how can you tell them apart?
  3. Yesterday I saw this sequence: [hv=d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1cp1hp2np4np5s]133|100[/hv] Where 5♠ shows 3 Aces. I was taught that quantitative bids could be 'answered' like blackwood (5♣ 0-4 Aces, 5♦ 1 Ace, etc) in case two aces were missing and then you could stop at 5NT; or you could just blast to 6. Later I found some people who bid a new suit at the 6 level to show a 5-card suit (generally after a quantitative over a NT opening) or even a 4-card suit in order to offer that contract as a possibility. However, I was wondering yesterday, why would you show 3 aces? What do other people play? What do experts play?
  4. [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1np2cd2hp2s]133|100[/hv] You probably have a great system over 1NT, but if you sat down and agrred to play 2/1 how would you take 2♠ in this sequence?
  5. So, what was the complete hand like?
  6. [hv=pc=n&n=sjt75hk6dt74cak75&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1d4c(3%20Clubs%20would%20have%20shown%20Spades%20and%20Clubs)d5c6dpp?]133|200[/hv]
  7. [hv=pc=n&e=sk83hqj3dqjckjt94&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1d?]133|200[/hv] Pass, Double or 2♣? [hv=pc=n&e=s42hkqjt654dj3ca6&d=e&v=n&a=?]133|200[/hv] How many hearts?
  8. East should bid 2♥, that's what h was going to bid anyway had North passed. I also think West could have doubled again, but East had the first chance.
  9. I throw a club on the Heart Queen. Throw away a club on the spades, Diamond Ace and another Diamond to the King, discard a diamond on the Heart Ace, and ruffing diamond finesse if no Diamond Queen has appeared. I'm no using the clubs much, but I win when the Diamond queen is with East or seocnd or singleton with east.
  10. Teams [hv=pc=n&s=saq97haj5d7ckt752&n=s643hqt62dq9643cq&d=e&v=-&a=1dxp1hpp1sp1n2cppp]200|200[/hv] Yes, I suppose South should pass 1NT, but shouldn't North bid 2♥ on a singleton club? Edit: Wrong auction
  11. [hv=pc=n&s=s986ha2dak984caq5&n=sqjh7dqt75cjt9742&d=s&v=b&a=1dp2d2s3sp4cp4dppp]200|200[/hv] Teams. 1NT would have been 12-14. 2♦ is 6-10.
  12. Unless RHO squirmed before passing I don't see why I wouldn't bid 3♠.
  13. Then I guess no responsive double should have been made but 3♣? ♠QT8 ♥Jxx ♦J7x ♣AJxx
  14. MP's, you're red, they're not: ♠Jxxx ♥Qxx ♦A ♣KQxxx (1♦)-X-(2♦)-X (Pa)-?
  15. It depends on the opponents. I might try for all 13 tricks by cashing the clubs or play a heart towards dummy and then all the clubs for 12.
  16. Sorry. I was so happy they hadn't cashed the spades I didn't even check this important fact. West led High-Low, showing a doubleton.
  17. [hv=pc=n&s=sj82hq76dkckqjt63&n=sq4h8dajt942ca952&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1h2cd2h3hp4h5cppdppp]266|200[/hv] A small heart to the King and the Ace of hearts back on the second trick after some thought. You ruff in dummy and East discards a heart on the small club to hand.

  20. [hv=pc=n&s=sha4dkt752cakq654&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1h1s2c4spp?]133|200[/hv] MP's What's the difference between 5♦, 5♠ and 5NT?
  21. 3. Always 3. After 1x-1y-1N there should be some kind of checking bid. Some people play 'New Minor Forcing', some people play 2♣ checkback, some people play two-way chackback, where 2♣ shows an inviting hand or a signoff in Diamonds and 2♦ is GF. And that's only in the place where I live.
  22. [hv=pc=n&w=sa52ht3dakq85cq97&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=2d(Multi)2s4h4spp?]133|200[/hv] MP's, what do you do?
