  1. I don't 1S on 5xS to109, 3hcp and only short is partner's bid suit. Now later auction becomes clearly 4S sacrifice decision. That works. And partner doesn't hope 1-2DT.
  2. Feels this starts at the wrong place. Start with "what really matters?" Eg does 2hcp in 5332 matter? How much? At the 0.0003% level? if yes, why wasn't that precision postponed until the 0.5% effects are found and schemed? "What's in the cards" before some edifice of bidding.!
  3. New suit F1 (RONF)- may be 'operating' this auction. Strictly forbid going above 3 of weak2 suit. Ogust shows too much - just a 'not much hope for game, partner' every else 'something' (I like short) here helps you decide.
  4. Try Amsbury-like 2M here. Throw dust cloud back into their high-risk opener. 2H: a) weak2H, :D 4144, c) 5D-5x with obvious after X escapes; 2S similar. X, 2N, higher are strong bids.
  5. X: good controls, S-stops. If partner wants to try 800 bonanza ~CA+DK. 3NT: poor controls, S-stops. Unless this is reserved as good/bad for minor non-Q.
  6. Finesse, as if drop is necessary to make 3D, won't it mean 3H makes also? If I'm right I want to win something -5 IMP, 2H= push
  7. When/How is 4225-19+ separated from 4206-17+? Seems never, so how reasonably to decide penalties verses bid 4S? By guess and by golly? Does X and later X and (I assume) later 3rd X promise 4xS? Or just pick something? Seems very likely this bal big wasn't separated from distr big. Not well thought out.
  8. 5C as 'stuff' on the way to 5H. May help partner decide what over 5S/6S.
  9. What bid shows bal with no tricks likely? I guess that's 3S. Opponents won't play 4H. 4S over that. Else I cannot suggest.
  10. Would have 'sandwich 1NT', but they bid that. Now we are on whatever we have discussed about "sandwich NT". Eg. losers is jj; defense tricks is kk; points is nn, shapes are Ss.
  11. Partner says we are not defending AND I have the S-void?? UP we go.
  12. Partner forced after 3H. Shape out second suit, esp. as it is cheap.
  13. Lucked out with 3 of 5 DJ DK HK CQ CA onside. Try 1 of 6, 2 of 5. Got lucky, good story.
  14. This isn't where this hand gets interesting. Which, what slam try(s) are we cooperating? H-fit slam try? S-suit, big hand? General strong 4c cue?
  15. Does 17+ or 4+DT start T/O dbl first? Thus topping partner's overcall. Pass, no offense, bal Or unlimited up if distributional( say 5530,6430) to get one suit in cheaply with 2nd +strong later? Thus fit asking 1st. Now 4D appeals, fit found, how high, partner?
  16. Lead-direct opponents out of 6S? When C-lead may be indicated(non-X of keys resp, Lightner X/nonX) later. And high-risk bonanza penalty 4C-x offered.
  17. Cover with Kx dblton iff partner may have Jx, 10xx, 9xxx; ie. a promotable holding is what I learned. Not covering may get a few tricks deeper into the hand before the Kx is resolved. Thus no certainty of later entries, no certainty wasn't ducked. 'Let'em guess'
  18. Direct/immediate act with hearts; delayed with spades. Now just agree strength for simple overcall, then Q,X,new.
  19. 1. Did South make a mistake in fully describing his partner's bid? No, I believe that is their understanding for which is 'keys' suit. 2. North certainly took advantage of his mistake based upon South's explanation. Do the opponents have any recourse? No, I think 6S was going to be bid always. I heard this auction and expected 6S blast. Now cannot as partner key-asked ??! S-AKQxx got delayed support and Partner keyed for slam?? No adjust!
  20. And the maximums for 3H? And the GFs w/wo 4xH? Does anyone else leben 2N, then rebid above 3S is GF 2-suited?
  21. 1. Fear partner has SKQxxxx, H-, DKQxx, CAxx so my mastermind 2NT loses 4S. 2C. 2. Ain't interested in anything else but hearts, so 1D just-in-case.
  22. Particularly good 1NT vs. 4H. Double.
  23. Was my 1NT bal within range or did it promise H-stop? Does partner's 3C now warn me H-Kx, H-QJx, H-Axx won't be enough opposite his H-void? 3NT is counter-partnership. Having not neg-X, I choose 3S Q-bid: where are we going, partner?
  24. Missing DKJ +HQJ +SAKJ (and lead-direct over my SQ). Partner's 11-14 needs 2 of SA, SK, DK with his CK for slam? Maybe, but he sees those after I show strong. Changed my mind about slam forcing.
  25. OK, I try S. Finding S:5-6-0-2. S-ruff gets us flying for bonanza 1100.
