  1. Could I be answering exclusion?
  2. Now we all have gone 6C. WHAT DOES PARTNER NEED TO GO 7C? Can he revalue his A as the only one missing? His 6th club as the grand trick? Go back over the arguments for us to go 6C. Then let partner see the same for going 7C.
  3. I'm thinking partner has a S-void. "Hope not too much duplication your stop/my void". There is, I quit.
  4. Discussion seeks an exploring of minds. What do you think and why? Close minded cannot get this idea of discussion. I only can think I'm right is a defense mechanism -- not logical discussion!
  5. OleBerg, My agreement is VUL Unu2NT claims little more than fit makes this our hand. We don't eagerly show weakness! My agreement includes deviations for 4-5 Unu2NT especially to warn off the other major. I can see where you project your agreements into this discussion to find this Unu2NT is wrong. MY agreement is well-discussed for how strong VUL and what is allowed when missing other major. Thus, both disciplined to our agreement(Exp) and agreed what is the best (say we) for Unu2NT(Adv). That is Advanced & Expert. Do you see this now?
  6. I think the "may be short" fails (eg. 4s4h3d2c). Whereas 3+C works as natural for minor suit.
  7. How much stronger may South be for free bid 1S? What is the bottom of Red immediately? Play South for zip with 5+S? How much IS the bottom of North 4C splinter? I actually would redouble first as South with both majors well-held. I also would have 4C with North hand rebidding to free 1S. It doesn't force slam after all. Play North for diamonds and S-fit jump as no more talk needed?
  8. Just curious, which who's catch 3-seat 1S psych when 4S for us is on? Nearly switch North with West in the full deal revealed.
  9. Whichever. This hand is a monster. AK +AK +AK +H-single. What bid focusses on S:Q +/- H:A? I guess 5H, then 6S.
  10. Whichever. This hand is a monster. AK +AK +AK +H-single. What bid focusses on S:Q +/- HA? I guess 5H, then 6S.
  11. 1S relay plus xyz frees 2-bids 3-bids for mini-spl, fitbids, adv Q-bids with solid diamonds -- choose. Abundance of riches!
  12. Are you asking immediate 2-suiter bids vs. delayed 2-suiter bids? I much prefer immediate 2-suiter bids. This frees my new suit bids for control bids -- alerting partner to my problem.
  13. What would an immediate 3H mean? Have I already denied this hand by not 3H? Can't chance 3NT disaster when 4H is not.
  14. On A & E blog. Asking about stepping out of an agreed checkback sequence. What netherworld is this? The essence of expert is the discipline of agreements. Advanced means those agreements are well-thought out. Neither apply.
  15. This is a reasonable deviation for a VUL Unu2NT. I try that. That at least warns partner heart honors are not fitting.
  16. DinDIP, I actually do play a weak opening system. So I am interested, as you, in other bridge minds seeing this problem and what they suggest for solution. I use double as "misfit expected suit" -- here spades. Cheapest of transfer/NT maybe for hearts if they are unclaimed --may later also show spades. Here I use 4D=pick major. In 4M on half the deck -- but pure, nothing in their suit.
  17. I actually would have bid to 6S.
  18. You pays yo' money; you takes yo' chances. If this is your chosen system didn't you anticipate this problem? What's YOUR solution? Us others using non-natural systems want to see your trade-offs.
  19. Pick 13 from S:AKQJ H:KQJ C:QJ to fail slammy. Then convince me that wasn't a contrived exercise: "I can do it!" I'm always making two pushes on this hand. I could get discouraging to key-ask and quit 5S. But I'll wager 6S= much more common than 5S-1.
  20. I like 3D as advance Q, then 4S. Even if 4-3 spades and needing a H-ruff. This should play. If partner's 4 non-majors are D:KJx C:x maybe slam.
  21. Absolutely! Discover grand is well into good odds, then to not bid it. Betrayal of partnership! As much as I hate "by guess and by golly" bidding, this astounds. What point to finding 55+% then not to intend to win with that knowledge?
  22. Right, partner cannot make a forcing pass when his hand is so well defined. He did open 1NT. His double has good defense for a jump accept. I trust that.
  23. A+A+A+K = 7 of 12 controls. I got to get partner to see S:AQ109xx H:Kx D:x C:Qxx is slamming. 4D and key-ask next.
  24. Is this question intended to invite the "it is non-forcing" BUT partner will field the table and rebid his diamonds when that is right. Won't push 4S with his good fit by "table feel" WHICH EQUALS STYLE.
  25. I have an Intermediate Jump Overcall, not WJO for this hand. 3H.
