1. 2S. Glad partner won't reopen on 3334-13. To get to 2S/3S. And won't raise this 2S to 4S. I would WEASEL my sub-minimum, shotgun my full-values. How do you distinguish otherwise if quacky 9 w 5143 is in 2S and, I assume also good 14? Good 17? When does partner raise? When does partner not raise AND not BIT influenced provably. Provably: methods are documented for wide-ranging 2S both bidding and passing responses.
2. "Do you bid something? Do you think of bidding something?" -- Hanoi5 Did my thinking already. Done.
3. Wasn't this hand a 3C first response? Edit: Or whatever bid shows middling/invite long clubs. Sorry, I didn't assume Bergen.
4. To kgr, - Would it make sense to use DSIP DBL's also in case of a forcing pass? (Maybe you should switch to penalty in the balancing seat then?) ::: DSIP when forcing pass not ON. Intend to partition DT vs. offense. - Do you think it is best to have on Game Level the DSIP DBL's by both hands or to have DSIP DBL only by direct hand and penalty in balancing? ::: DSIP in balancing must lean to penalties. Else why did partner choose his 'up-to-you' call? He didn't act so your suggestion is likely final.
5. The basic idea is to use DSIP to "catch-up" the DT after an overcall or TO/X. This widens the overcall range. Else you must limit overcalls to 10-14, 5-suit. And put the over-range into TO/X first. I like to get the suit in quickly -- often a raise makes no need to top out. That leaves DSIP for top-outs.
6. North or South needs a believable 4C =Zia Q or C-void showing. Or sanely 4S quit.
7. First, a North K is in clubs. Now we have a go at it. Likely get one red finesse right. My favorite peeve. Weak hand deciding 3xK won't make 6S???
8. GIB peeks!!! He saw C:10 East else C-lead lost set.
9. Takes a lot to persuade off 4th best. Don't see a lot.
10. What's my "I take control" bid after 1H overcall? Hope some lower than 4N. My partnership uses 2NT(as Ogust): H-bad/H-good bal/H-good and short lo/mid/hi. Step for controls.
11. Y'all persuaded me. I change to pass is a better bid, with SOS redouble if penX comes.
12. 2x: does this 5-suit with a maxpass help you see 3NT? Other game? Range ask makes some sense, but I assume partner is looking at his top/mid/low range hand. Do I need to tell him what to do? What exploring is needed? Partner did not double, after all! Do we systemically need many "I don't trust your bid, partner?"
13. Partner suggests penalties. I agree, maybe a penalty bonanza.
14. Am I believing solid spades and H-void? After partner doubled? I do have 3xDT. Which is the void, if they are making?
15. 1.D4 to DA, 2.Dr, 3.H5 to HQ over HK, 4.Dr, 5.H6 to HA, 6.Dr, 7.SA, 9.wait for CAQ -- that's a bonanza in 1C-X. Always expect spades response to TO/X otherwise bid your suit. Partner is prepared for 1S even 2S competing.
16. Repeat says 'first wasn't Zia control'.
17. Is this up to unilateral 'my suit'? Or cooperate? 3C
18. Partner's pass over 3S said 'not hearts' -- does that help? That's my agreement for just this expectable auction. Also 1C has spades, as 1D has hearts.
19. MP automatic reopen X. Likely S:3-5 as no 1S to 1H. Likely bonanza if I double? NO! 3m making? This is close and it's a 5-6 IMP decision. I want to tell partner much better hand when I force a borderline play on him. Pass.
20. Eliminate spades(they are not 1-8). Run H9. Hope to only lose D:AK +H:Q(J). My luck dblton H:QJ West.
21. See how much trouble they get into with H:Q9xxx weak2?
22. 2H first, then 3D playing canape vs. strong NT.
23. I think
P
1NT,
2D (->H)
2H,
4H. Gets to 4H always.
24. I would assume 2NT=H+D would be chosen over 1H, then show diamonds when the diamonds are good, hearts weak. I lead a diamond.
