Because I expect to take 3 heart tricks with Qxx vs AKxx?

  3. LOL, you have a real ego problem. and you get off on saying people are attacking YOU. POT KETTLE.
  4. You just are being willfully ignorant at this point. How many times do you need to be told that GIB doesn't bid like a human partner?
  5. Hopinh for cooperation from GIB is like hoping a fish will leap out of the sea and into your net - it might happen once in a while, but don't expect it, and don't cater for it. I would never try to introduce hearts here. Once GIB thinks you have a fit, it's never going to play elsewhere.
  6. Not quite sure why you'd say that. In many ways it's a more valid form of scoring than MP. It rewards bidding and making games and slams, and beating contracts on defense. Sort of the point of the exercise, idinit?
  7. Not really sure if there is a point to this post?

If N actually has anything like 7 decent diamonds don't you want to be in 3N? All parter needs for it to be virtually lockdown is the Q♣ and may not even need that.

N and S deserve each other. Bidding 3♦ is horrible (shoudl bid 3♣), but passing 3♦ is just hilarious. 100% to N, 1500% to S.
  10. GIB is bridge russian roulette. My advice to you is to forget that it exists. playing too much with GIB will ruin your actual game.
  11. Gotta consider the whole hand. Opponents silent in bidding? That probably rules out any 7 card or longer suits, and good 6 card suits, and 5 card suits with an opening hand. That will shift the percentages a bit.
  12. Don't really think it's "sage advice" to say you get a good result when opponents make a systemic misbid.
  13. No he can't. Partner PASSED when he had the opportunity to open.
  14. No, 4 heart tricks. The defense only wins 3, but odds are if the defense gets in again it'll be the hand with the 5th (6th) heart.
  15. Do remember that that book was published in 1981, and it wasn't exactly cutting edge *then*.
  16. The problem with 3N on this hand is that you know the defense is gonna start off by playing 4 heart tricks, which gives you zero room to maneuver. It could work, but I'm not feeling that great about it. Basically need to catch partner on a max.
  17. I mean, it's far from cold. But after that huge jump to 4♠ S has to find a 2nd bid. Basically the definition of the jump is something like "slam interest opposite opening values". Having said that, I think 3S is plenty with the N hand.
  18. Just treat the jump rebid as GF if holding either 3 card support for the primary suit or 7HCP.
  19. That seems hopelessly extreme. Axxx Axx Axx Axx is not a better hand than KQJx KQJ KQJ KQJ More reasonable methods I've seen value something Like J=0.5 Q=2 K=3 A=4.5 - which has the advantage of there still being 40 pts in the deck.

    Rules

3♦ bidder should be drawn and quartered. That is seriously blatant abuse of UI.
  21. Whoops, I can't count. Then, yeah, I think 4♠ probably best but 2♠ is still way better than starting with X, which is just...misguided at best.
  22. Any auction that ends in a slam here is not optimal. Not one I'd want to be in.
