  1. South should stop overthinking and just transfer.
  2. Not in the ACBL.. Generic mini-roman is total garbage though.
  3. Huh? ACBL games went from $1 to $1.25 a few years ago, but there haven't been any other pricing changes.
  4. A 3 pt 2nt range is unplayably bad. I’d rather play it as exactly 20 than 20-22. This is 22, not 21. The reason 2NT cannot be 22 - or even a good 21 is that responder needs to be comfortable passing with a bare king.
  5. Anything but 2C-banana-2NT is losing bridge. Bidding 101 - when you have a sequence that shows a specific hand (22-23 balanced, in this case), and you don't do it, you don't have that hand.
  6. I would never, ever, assume this without explicit discussion. One round force only. Shows 10+ In fact, I'd go so far as to say a GF inv. minor raise is unplayable without some sort of supplementary structure (e.g. JS in other minor as exactly an inv. raise)
  7. There is something pretty seriously wrong with your network. Packet loss is something that should not happen, ever. Much less every few minutes. Troubleshoot with your ISP.
  8. 1000x agreed. BBO is way too much of a nanny state.
  9. 4NT is an overbid of truly titanic proportions.
  10. Maybe you have your reasons, but I find any such 2♣ sub-system infinitely more playable when it promises 6.
  11. We are told patnership overcall style is "sound". So partner shouldn't have a "bad" hand...and even if they do I expect to beat 4!S a good percentage of the time. If we don't beat it? You take your -5 imps and next hand. 4♠ and 5♦ are without merit. It's either Pass or X. X has _a lot_ of upside. If they're down 2, Xing wins 5. If they're down 3, +8.
  12. Are you implying that this would be illegal if done against a human? Because it isn't.
  13. If you want to bid slams, use a system that isn't completely unsuited to the task. That's really all there is to say. Of course you don't find slams when you have no forcing raise, no RKC, no splinters, and no cuebids.
  14. W's double is fine. W's pass of 2♦ is not.
  15. The only fix is to ditch GIB for something else. The bot used on the site they bought (Funbridge) is far far far beyond GIB.
  16. No, I'm not, because I play drury. Passed hand natural 2m does not exist.
  17. Given that (alleged) hesitator was the opening leader, and this is his first opportunity to have a think after seeing dummy, when SHOULD he consider when to make some future false card if not now?
  18. Abstain. I would have bid 4♥ (or 4♠, if no Texas) at my first turn, so I don't have this problem. At IMPs I suspect I will have good expected value vs any random hand partner has, and I don't want to give away anything to the defense on the auction. Giving that I am always bidding game, 1N-xfer-2-4 is at least a mild slam try and obviously I don't have that. I don't invite because I don't think I can intelligently get anything from partner... his trump quality is essentially irrelevant for one.
  19. I'm not particularly convinced 5 seconds at trick 2 IS a break in tempo. In the words of George Clinton: Think, It Ain't Illegal Yet.
  20. Whatever agreements you have, S's pass is just from Neptune.
  21. GIB doesn't play superaccepts right? So there's really no point. Xfer then 3NT should be slammish.
  22. Can I shoot both of you. That is very much what the 1M - balance with 3N should be...but that hand is at least a trick short, maybe more. A 7th diamond or a black A/K at the very least, maybe, if not both. X of 4♥ is gonzoland though.
  23. No he can't. THINK! E obviously is doing some sort of garbage/crawling stayman, so 3+♥,more likely 4, and W has at least two. Parter cannot have 5 hearts on this auction, ever. I would be highly surprised by even 4.
