[hv=d=n&v=n&n=skxhakxxdaxxcqxxx&s=sxhqxxdxxxcakxxxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I thought 4C was RKC (we play RKC in minor after fit is agreed. Maybe fit was not really agred here. Anyway, we now added the agreement that 1NT opener can not ask aces). Opps did lead a ♠ and ♥ were 3-3. An undeserved good score.

It is actually defined as 6c♣, single ♠ and GF

[hv=d=n&v=n&s=sxhqxxdxxxcakxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner opens 1NT 15-17 1NT-2♠ 2NT-3♠ 4♣-?? 2♠=Transfer ♣ 2NT=good hand for ♣ 3♠=singelton ♠, slem interest for ♣ 4♣=too positive to play 3NT Do you agree with the bidding till now, and what do you bid now?
-
I wondered if ruffing ♣ and play ♥ (Because no ♥ lead I would play small to Q and finesse LHO for the ♥J) with the intention to play differently depending on losin 1 or 2 ♥'s.: - If only loose one ♥ then develop ♣ and ♠ for 10 tricks. - if loosing 2 ♥'s develop ♠ and ♦ finesse for LHO ♦Qxx ...Probably doens't make sense because I will be a trump short in dummy if opps continue ♣

A question on your gadget... what do you bid when you have real ♣ or does rebidding 3♣ show the 2/1 GF hand with real ♣? 1M-2♣ 2♦/2♥-3♣ 2♣=3cM and limit+ If opener is minimum: 2♦=minimum 5c♥ or good hand with 5c♥ and 4+c♦ 2♥=6c♥ 3♣=GF with ♣ We use 1M-3♣ as a 4 card raise with 7-9pts, but we could have used that for a limit hand with ♣. Now we can't bid that (we bid 1M-2C-2D-2NT or bid GF with ..2C...3C)

I play dummy for the ♥J (is the diagram wrong?) Yes, It was wrong. Corrected now. Thanks

Sorry, I don't remember the vuln.

[hv=d=s&n=sxxxhktxxdakjxxxc&s=skqjhq9xxdxckqjxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Bidding: 1♣-1♠! 1NT-2♦! 3♥-4♥ 1♠=T-Walsh, transfer NT or ♦ 2♦=transfer ♥ (reverse and GF, You think this hand is good enough for a reverse?) LHO leads a small ♣. What is best plan?: - Don't ruff the ♣ - Ruff the ♣ lead and play trump ...anything else (e.g ruff ♣, and eliminate ♣ , ♦ and ♠ and hope opps have to lead the ♥'s for you. (Who do you play for ♥A ,♥J?

[hv=d=n&s=sktxhktxxdqjxxxcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner opened 1♠. You play constructive raises (similar as in 2/1) and 2♣ is a limit raise with a 3c support. Do you consider this a constructive 2 raise or a limit raise?

1. Does partnership bidding exist in web version? 2. What is easiest way to do partnership bidding with 4 persons? Play in main room and redeal after bidding or is there another way?

Thanks for the answers! - Has this something to do with restircted choice? - What if I have 20 children and at least one of them is a boy, what is the prob that they are all boys? (suppose you have too much children to write done all combinations)
-
Question from my daughter: I have 3 children and one of them is a boy. What is the probability that they are all 3 boys? The answer should be 1/7. Is there an easy explanation for this? How should this be calculated? Thanks, Koen

It looks like Justin is trying to compensate with his longer - and interesting - posts he is recently

Thanks a lot for the answers Eugene!

Thanks for the answer Eugene. Probably right that not raising spades (or doubling 2S) indicates that LHO will have the ♥K. But I'm also interested in the probabilities for best play without taking into account the info you got from the bidding and without taking into account the psycholgies of the plays. (I wonder how difficult that question is). Thanks, Koen PS: ....I was also wondering if restricted choice applies for the ♥ suit. For beginners like me that always have to rethink this: Before you play the ♥'s, the double finesse gains 75% of the time one trick (RHO having ♥K and/or ♥Q). After you have lost the 1st finesse the probability that LHO has the other ♥ honour is 50%, but that is divided by 2 because of restriceted choice to 25%. So still 75% to gain a trick with the double finesse. If LHO always plays the Q from KQ then the probability is 50% after loosing the 1st finesse to the Q, and 100% after loosing the 1st finesse to the K.

[hv=n=saxxxhtxdktxxcajx&s=sxhaj9dajxxxxcktx]133|200|1D-(1S)-2S-Pass 5D-(Pass)-6D-All Pass[/hv] You reach 6D after LHO overcalled 1S. LHO starts a S that you take with ♠A and you ruf a ♠. You now play ♦A and RHO surprises you by discarding a ♥. You play a ♦ to the ♦T (RHO discarding a ♥) and ruff another ♠. You play ♦ to ♦K (RHO discarding a ♣) You finesse ♥ loosing to LHO ♥Q and he returns a ♠ that you ruff in hand (RHO discarding a ♥). [hv=n=saxxxhtxdktxxcajx&s=sxhaj9dajxxxxcktx]133|200|1D-(1S)-2S-Pass 5D-(Pass)-6D-All Pass[/hv] LHO started with: 5=[1-4]=3=[1-4] RHO: 3=[4-7]=0=[3-6] Assume that I made up the discards of RHO and that they don't tell you anything and that LHO already showed enough in ♠ and ♥ for his overcall What is best play from here and what are the probabilities of both lines: 1) Play ♥A and ruff a ♥. You will now have a good count to play the ♣'s for the best probability. 2) Play ♣K, ♣A, the ♦ discarding a ♣ from hand and finesse ♥ if ♣J is not high Thanks, Koen (hope this makes sense)

Sorry...topic title wrong Should be: What is 4H cue be opener? What hand do you expect opener to have?

1♠-(2♥)-3♠-(Pass) 4♥-(Pass)-??? Your 3♠ was a preemptive raise. What is best agreement for 4♥ bid? =================== Very good hand and a splinter. something like: AKJxxx - Axx AKxx = ...=...=...=...=...= AKJxxx A Kxx Axx =========OR======== Partner could have bid 4♣ and 4♦ controls, but choice 4♥. Only with bad Spades he needed a cue bid of 4♥. His hand should be something like: Kxxxx x AK AKxxx ===================

Good question. These penalty passes are difficult IMO. I would guess (see the ??? :P ): - 2D=11-19 ; Not 4=3 in Majors (should DBL with 4/3=5=1) - 2H= 6-9, 5-card (4-card???). With weaker hand you pass 2D. - 3H iso 2H. Forcing (4cH and had a penalty pass of 2C)???

Diamonds clubs and qx of hearts

This was also my 1st thought, but I changed my mind before reading the posts. You already told you partner that you are weak with Spades. With 3S you only say that you think that Spades play better then D. You will still get out at the 3-level. -
Maybe it helps to show the current date and time. (I know this is your current computer time, but I can imagine that it clarifies things more if it shown in the browser). You mean Top Management, like the CEO? (As far as I know, only 3 or 4 persons work at BBO and uday is one of them)

Funny, I has a similar hand yesterday and the bidding started the same. At MP's. Vul vs Not ♠ KJxxx ♥ QJxxxx ♦ Kx ♣ (1♣)-2♣-(2♦)-3♣ (4♣)-4♥-(5♣)-Pass (Pass)-5♦-(Pass)-5♠ (PAss)-Pass-(DBL)-All Pass Now I think it is better to start 1♣-(4♣) (...Do you play this as majors?) and tell your distribution at once.

How effective is this convention?
kgr replied to kgr's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I wasn't really looking for an opinion if this system is effective or not, but rather a way to verify it myself. ... - 1-suited overcalls we make with jump. e.g (1M)-3C: Intermediate - Required suit length 4-4 and around an opening. Can be weaker with extra length. ... -

Yes, therefor I would need to manually verify hands. It would help, to verify eg par score, if I could load them in Jack. Your point about giving away info that can be useful for opps in bidding or play is correct. That could make the verification very difficult.
