West returns ♠5 for North's K. East the ♠T. !!Now you know how the Spades are divided!! You decide to lead another ♠, East ♦7, Dummy ♠7 and ♠9 for West. Now West plays ♥7: [hv=d=e&v=b&n=sk843hajt964da83c&s=s762hq2dqt52cak43]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] How do you continue?
  2. Do support DBL's also apply for minors normally?

    T9x

We play highest of sequence with even nbr of cards and 2nd with odd number of cards, but we don't do this if partner did bid the suit. T in 1st case; 9 in 2nd
  4. That's not much of an argument. If advancer had spade support and a hand worth showing it, he'd have bid 2♠ on the previous round. Strange that even while posting this, I didn't think about that. (Actually my thinking at the table was between pass and invite. I never considered 3NT).
  5. [hv=d=n&s=st9xhaxxxdaqjcxxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♦-(1♠)-DBL-(Pass) 1NT-(Pass)-?? 1♦=4+card (We open 5cMajor and 4c♦) In our system we cannot invite with 2NT (that is transfer to ♦), but have to go via 2♣ here. (Partner often opens with 11pts and often opens 1NT with 14). The bidding did go (2♦ shows minimum): 1♦-(1♠)-DBL-(Pass) 1NT-(Pass)-2♣-(Pass) 2♦-(Pass)-2NT-(Pass) 3NT-AP May partner says I have enough and it is better to bid 3NT iso going via 2♣. Now it is clear for opening leader that his partner does not have ♠ support. What do you think?
  6. I did bid 4NT (quantitative), but my partner said that I had too much for that and that 5NT (choose) is better. We did end in 6♣ anyway. [hv=n=sajhkjxdatxcaktxx&s=sxhaqxdqj9xxcqjxx]133|200|[/hv] (I'm not sure about partners hand, I know he missed ♦A or ♦K, he had around 20 pts, still had ♥KJ.. when he claimed and took the Spade lead with ♠A)
  7. After a 3NT opener (or 2D-(p)-2H-(p)-3NT) we play baron and 4S for the minors, but I don't know if that should apply here.
  8. [hv=d=e&v=b&s=sxhaqxdqj9xxcqjxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] (2♦!)-P-(2♥!)-3NT (p)-?? RHO opens 2♦ Multi. You pass (??). LHO bids 2♥ (Wants to play 2♥ if his partner has a weak 2♥. Probably he has not many Hearts). Your partner bids 3NT (to play). What do you bid now? (We didn't have agreements about this, but probably partner follow the expert meaning)
  9. Thanks for the answers. Full hand and result: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skj432ha652da2c52&w=saqt87h4dk764cat7&e=s5hqj3dqjt85cj963&s=s96hkt987d93ckq84]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] 2♥-(2♠)-3♥-AP 3♥=
  10. Thanks for the answers. I wondered if 4♥ was ok. This is the result FYI: [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sk3hk8765dk9ct652&w=saqj98ht2d72ck987&e=st7654haq9da864cj&s=s2hj43dqjt53caq43]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] 2♥-(p)-4♥-AP
  11. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=skj432ha652da2c52]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 2♥!-(2♠)-?? 2♥=Muiderberg: 5c♥; 4+cMinor; weak (max 3c♠) You have following options: - DBL: penalty - 2NT: asks minor, weak or strong. (partner will always bid 3♣ or 3♦. If you bid over partners answer then it shows a strong hand) - 3♦:limit for ♥s; (partner bids 3♥ with a bad hand). - 3♥: to play - 4♥: to play
  12. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s2hj43dqjt53caq42]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 2♥!-(Pass)-?? 2♥=Muiderberg: 5c♥; 4+cMinor; weak (max 3c♠) You have following options: - 2NT: asks minor, weak or strong. (partner will always bid 3♣ or 3♦. If you bid over partners answer then it shows a good hand) - 3♣: limit for the minors (partner passes with weak hand and ♣, bids 3♦ with weak hand and ♦, 3♥ with good hand and ♣, 4♠ with good hand and ♦) - 3♦:limit for ♥s; (partner bids 3♥ with a bad hand). - 4♣: Pass or correct - 3♥: to play - 4♥: to play Do you want to know what minor partner has and play in the minor? Or do you prefer to take the fast route?
  13. NV (probably closer to MP's) SK: 118.3 SJ:101.1 SK: 119.6 SJ:103.8 => It could well be that SJ is the best play at MP's.
  14. Most of the time when I do this the result will remain the same if I do it again. 1000 seems to be a big enough sample. A bit more samples: SK: 115.2 SJ:85.9 SK: 116.6 SJ:88.3 SK: 117.4 SJ:87.5 SK: 117.6 SJ:86.4 Remark: If RHO plays on trick 1 the ♥7 iso ♥2 then the figures change a bit (low is encouraging): SK: 111.3 SJ:84.5 SK: 111.3 SJ:87.8 SK: 113.0 SJ:85.9 (BTW: LHO had ♠Q singleton)
  15. - I'm not sure if I can enter in Jack that it is MP's, so yes the calculation is done in IMP's. - In Jack you can after every card do double dummy analysis (ctrl-D) or analyze the position (ctrl-A). - Analyze the position will deal 1000 possible hands and do a double dummy analysis on them. I'm not sure what it takes into account for the possible hand, but it somehow looks at the bidding and play. (Eg if I lead from KJ52 the 2 or the 5 then that will give a different result; because Jack will think I have 3 or 4 cards in that suit). The analyze position will show and adapt the result after every hand until it has done 1000 and you can interrupt before if it is already clear. It is amazingly fast.
  16. [hv=d=s&v=b&n=sakj732h9dkqt8cq4&s=s86haq84d9643cjt3]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] p-(p)-1S-(p) 1NT!-(p)-2C!-(p)- 2D-(p)-2S-AP 1NT=Not forcing, but can include 3cS and 4-7 pts 2C=strong, asking 2D=weak, nothing to say LHO leads ♥3 (3th or 5th) and I played ♥A and took the ♠-finesse. According to analysis in Jack it is better to play ♠A iso of finesse in trick 2. ♠A=117.8 ♠J=89.2 Can someone explain why? Is playing from the top always better if you only have one entry?
  17. Would you have bid 2S with West hand? ...I would have bid 3S.
  18. 1. What is G/B? (Is 2NT weak and 3♣ stronger or Vice versa?) 2. What is scrambling? (Is it different then Lebensohl?) Thanks, Koen
  19. I wonder what expert standard is. I play that 3NT is to play (max 11HCP) and 2NT..3NT is 12-14, 2NT..4NT is 15-16
  20. If you bid 4NT now, is it RKC for ♥ or for ♣? I take that 4♣ is a 2nd suit, eg: xx=Kxxx=xx=AQxxx; or is 3♥ not done with a 4-card, is 3♥ or 3♠ setting ♥ as trump?
  21. or read you blog ;) and transfer to the 4 card and bid the 6c afterwards.
  22. I had the following at the club against two LOLs (with playing TD) playing 4 hands against this pair: hand 1: Partner opened 1♣ and I declared a game contract. My RHO asked during the bidding what the 1♣ opening was and how many clubs it promised. She had a good 5c♣. hand 2: My partner opened 1♦ and I played 3NT. With LHO on lead, RHO asked before the lead if 1♦ was real. She had a good 5 or 6c♦. ...Actually RHO asked more then once in both hands. Luckily LHO did not lead ♣ or ♦, not that she was very ethical , but she didn't get the clue. => Why can I not (try) to explain RHO that she shouldn't do this? Something else: Before I knew anything about the laws, I declared 3NT in an important match. RHO cashed 4 Spades and then played ♥A. LHO revoked on that trick. I thought that I was already down before the revoke and noted 3NT-1. Now I would ask that trick back and note 3NT= (Most opps will do the same if they know the law)
  23. If nobody asks the TD to explain it to them, they never will understand. Initially I tried to explain it myself, but I gave up
