Did he have extra's?
-
You want to set ♥ as trump and ask 3rd round control in ♣. Opening 7♥ is an anti-percentage gamble. In my system: 3♣-3♦ (3♣ is trnasfer preempt or something strong) 3♥-4♥ (3♥ is GF with ♥, 4♥ is no controls) 6♣... (6♣ asks 3rd round control. This cannot be a 2nd suit in our system because with a GF ♥/♣ we open 3♦...)
-
As long as West has HHT then he cannot unblock. In the end figure from previous post you play a small ♦. West has ♦T left, but East cannot takeover because then S's ♦J will be the 10th trick. PS: when OP said ...Interesting hand... in the subject, then I think he was right. It is the deal of the week for me: not very special at first sight, but of lot of interesting points in it.
-
I don't think so: what do you think the 4 card end position will be after they lead a diamond back and LHO exits the heart J? Even if dummy has the AQ9x of clubs, there is no squeeze that I see...altho the double hook in clubs would then have worked. ...♦ ruff, ♠ ruff, 2x ♥:[hv=n=sjxhdcaqxx&w=sqthdqckjx&e=sahdkxcxxx&s=shkxdjxctx]399|300|[/hv] On this ♥ West cannot discard a ♠. If he discards a ♦ then you can give him a ♣ trick and ruff his ♠ return; to make an extra ♣ in dummy. If he discards a ♣ then you can play a ♦ and East will be squeezed in ♦/♣ when you ruff a ♠.
-
It seems that a club return is not needed to remove an entry for the development of a ♠ (there is an entry short anyway), but rather to remove an entry for a double squeeze (♠-♣ and ♦-♣).
-
I only see 4 entries in dummy: ♣AQ, ♠, ♦ruff (If West plays ♥J after ♦ switch by East)?
-
And: (2H)-3D-(3H)-3S => That should be forcing, or not?
-
I saw this on a famous bridge web site that support DBL shows 3c. I always thought that standard support DBL shows almost a fit: 3c if partner promised only 4+ and 2c if partner promised 5+. Seems I was completely wrong about that 2c. ....I'll have to verify what my partners standard is. Edit: I was going to send a mail to my partner, but it seems that we cannot have this situation. e.g: 1C-(1D)-1H = 4+Spade; and 1D-(1H)-DBL = 4+Spade and 1D-(1H)-1S = less then 4c Spade. ..Maybe one??: 1C-(1S)-2D!-(DBL) 2D=Transfer. => RDBL=3cH and 2H=4cH? I'm not even sure that support DBL is best here.
-
..And if DBL is 3c♠ then 2♠ is showing a 4c♠?
-
1♣-(1♥)-1♠-(2♥ or 2♣)- DBL You play support DBL's. Is DBL a 3c♠ or a good 2c♠?
-
Can you explain the logic why it can be weaker here then in direct seat?

My latest mistakes from the club

I would take 4S as a mild slam try...Only interested opposite a super-accept. I don't like this and now play that 3♦ is invite/game hand with a 6c-Major. That makes transfer followed by 3M free as a slam try, with more space to investigate. -
No Problem (My English is not perfect) big problem

Probably not cover if ♣K won (2 small clubs with opps) and LHO plays ♣9 on the 2nd ♣?
-
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=sqj9hak76dt96cq86&s=sat5ht84dakckt432]133|200|Scoring: MP 1C-(1S)-3NT-All Pass[/hv] Lead is ♠7 (1st/3th/5th), you play the J from dummy for the K and A. Best play of the Club suit without the overcall is small to the Q, and then to the Ten (?). But doe this change now that RHO did overcall 1S (and is more likely shorter in C and more likely that he has ♣A)?
-
I don't know a lot about 2/1, so maybe stupid questions: Is it standard/common to have 1NT semi-forcing with 2/1?
-
I was mislead by commentators, who said that declarer was gonna make +1. LHO had ♠K singleton and declarer did go -2.

[hv=d=e&v=b&n=sq73ha543d4caqt65&s=sajt542hkq9dq7ckj]133|200|Scoring: MP EW always pass: 1S-2C 2NT-3S 4C-4D 4NT-5S 6S-AP[/hv] LHO leads ♥6. What is %-play to make this?
-
Quant. Because I can set ♦'s in a forcing way.

Interesting for beginner/Intermediate

After the trump return from West, and the knowledge that West has the 4th Spade, you always have an entry to dummy. Either by letting trump run to Dummy or by taking the A and ruffing a Spade in dummy (Or with trump Q if East ruffs S with the A). But if you loose a trump trick (West ♥K) then you need to ruff a S for your 10th trick. Well done. I found it good play for beginner-intermediate to let the ♥Q singleton in dummy and use it later as an entry by ruffing Spade. Or let East ruff a bad Spade with ♥K and have the ♥Q as entry. You better didn't include this last comment. -
If less then 15 pts: (1D)-DBL-(Pass)-2D (Pass)-2H
-
Yes. With less then 15pts partner bids his Major. If that is Spades in our short suit we have to bid 2NT to play. Even more a problem if we also don't have a stopper.
-
I play: 2M: 5cM and limit 2♦: 4c major (or both), limit or better or GF with 5-card Maj
