  1. MP's [hv=pc=n&s=sjxxhakxxxxxdxxxc&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp]133|200[/hv] 1NT=not forcing (but includes a bad S-raise) 2♠= good raise, 3c♠ , 7-10 2♣=♣ or 2c♠ limit+ 2♥-..-4♠=13-15 good 5c♥ and ♠ support 4♥ to play What do you bid?
  2. I wonder: Should 4♣ be forcing here? I would take 4♣ as forcing and would consider a 4♦ bid.
  3. I have agreement with my partner that: - 2♦ would be a reverse (partner only promising ♥) - We open 1♦ iso 1♣ with 4-4 minors, after we had: I opened 1♣ with a similar hand (but ♠xx); LHO did bid 2♠ and partner had a minimal take out DBL. I had to bid 3♣ and played it for 4 vulnerable down tricks while we had a ♦-fit.

We (my partner and I) are still not sure what the best opening is: 1♠ or 2♣ (We don't have the 2-suiter opening, but we have the GF minor suit in multi 2♦. So 2♣-(2♥)-Pass-(4♥)-5♣ would show a 2-suiter with ♣) After 1♠....5♣ it will probably be difficult for partner to go to 6♣ with ♣KQx (I can also have AKQxxx-x-x-AJxxx)? Maybe it is better to open 2♣ with only 3 losers and open 1♠ with 4+? ...but maybe it is never possible - foreseeing a lot of competition - to correctly bid these hands?

I'm not sure if RDBL is a good idea. - You are not sure that 5♣ will make. - Will RDBL not ask opps to bid 5♥...and maybe, because you are so confident that you 'll make, they will even bid 6♥ over 5♠.

[hv=pc=n&s=sakq432hd2caj5432&n=sj5hj32dk6543ckt6&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1s2hp4h5cppdppp]266|200[/hv] This was the bidding at our table. I expected a 5♥ bid (over which I was gonna bid 5♠) and therefor I preferred 5♣ over 4♠. Any comments?
  7. right. I happened to learn that this was not known to most beginners...so it was a reminder :) (my partner played as said, but ♣KJx was badly placed)
  8. (I play in Belgium, but I don't think it really matters). We play that a 1NT overcall is for the two lowest unbid suits. Therefor the following DBL can also contain the normal 1NT hands (15-17 with good stop): (1♥)-DBL - Is it better to alert this behind screens? - In Belgium you are not allowed to alert DBL's if not behind screens, but suppose you are in another country where you can alert DBL's. Is it better to alert this without screens? My question because I wonder if an alert really matters at this moment for the opps. A standard DBL can also include stronger hands. Maybe an alert at this moment is adding more confusion (also because I needed to explain in French and my native language is Dutch).

Agree with this. What agreement is there about the DBL: - clearly take-out: then North should bid 3♠ - not 100% clear. then south should pass
  10. In case it was not yet mentioned: If you include a suit symbol, eg ♣ by then the text clubs between [ ] is included, but this text is selected and deleted if you continue typing It would be easier if text was not selected with cursor after last ]

(I didn't have the misery 3♥ available. That is from other system I sometimes play, but not on this hand) 1♠-(2♥)-Pass-(4♥) ?? What now? At the other table the opened a 2♦ multi including GF 2♦-(2♥-Pass-(4♥) ??
  12. You are In 6♣, IMP's. You have no losers outside ♣ and this is you trump suit. You can loose one trick in ♣ You have enough entries: AQxx * xxxxx How do you play this?

    - In the system with transfer preempts: Other transfer preempts (3♣-3♦) also include GF 1-suiter in major, so it is easier with this 3♥ opening. In the system notes: "If they compete, the GF-hand can double to show a unicolor and bid with a bicolor. With bicolor bid 2nd suit (no transfer).". => You can rebid ♣ after opening 3♥. - In the second system you can also show a GF 2-suiter, but it will take more bids. And you don't indicate ♠ immediately. Would you open 2♦ there?
  14. [hv=pc=n&s=sakqxxxhdxcajxxxx]133|100[/hv] IMP's. I don't remember vuln. What do you open? - If you can choose between: - - - 1♠ <and> - - - 3♥=preempt ♠ <or> GF 2-suiter with ♠ and a minor - If you can choose between: - - - 1♠ <and> - - - 2♣=preempt ♦ <or> GF hand (After a 2♦ relay, you bid 3♣ to show a 2-suiter ♣-♠
  15. Yes, you leave him a personal message with what he has to search for you.

  17. I had: http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?act=idx As my bookmark. And there you get message "We are in the process of upgrading our forums, please try again later!" => It would be better to change that.

    Defend 6H

Then you can as well return ♥? Returning ♠ risks to setup ♠-♦ squeeze if declarer has ♠Q

    Defend 6H

...ok, let's try: Take the ♥Ace and play ♠? Hope that partner is 6=3=2=2 and declarer 5=3=3=2 (But I would expect South to bid 2♦ with that hand)

Why is Ducking ♥K clear?: - It is standard with this suit. Always duck, except if there is a very good reason not to duck. OR: - It is clear on this hand?

    Defend 6H

Yes, that was the hand. Need to duck ♥K

(Maybe this is no expert defense, but I hope that it will be interesting for someone)
  23. Yes, This was the full hand: [hv=n=s943hq3d9432ck954&w=s62haj62d65cqt732&e=skj7h975dkq8caj86&s=saqt85hkt84dajt7c]399|300|[/hv]
