That is why I had that question: how to bid none ♥ fit after a DBL? -

How should North bid with ♥K iso ♥7? (I wonder if he can DBL and then has a bid over 4♥ that shows a strong hand without ♥ length) -
1♣-1♥ 2♣-4♣ (4♣=forcing asking controls) 4♦-4NT (4♦ control) 5♦-5♥ (30; ♣Q ask) 6♣-6NT (No ♣Q)

...Sorry (That is why I think it is better and clearer to use 2 posts for 2 unrelated hands  )

I was a bit surprised in other topic that for some pass was not forcing after bidding a vulnerable game and showing some force (...game not bid in a preemptive way). My question: - Do you have hard rules about forcing pass or is that more felt when pass is forcing or not? - What rules do you have in you regular partnership that set a forcing pass (..to what level)?
-
I don't like the REDBL with a fit. It gives the opps the change to preempt 2H/3H/4H and will you pass if your partner Doubles that? I always prefer to show my fit immediately instead of this REDBL or a penalty Pass.
-
Partner had: ♠x ♥JTxxx ♦xxxx ♣Axx And our bidding was: (1♦)-DBL-1♥ 2♦-3♥ 4♠-All Pass I crossed to ♣A to take the ♠ finesse for +3
-
another typo: no ♦2 in Dummy (or am I seeing this wrong?)
-
I said forcing because you did bid a vulnerable game on values. But i think you should have clear rules with your regular partner and use them here. (I'm still searching for a good set of rules to propose to my partner :P)
-
That is a good rule. I like rules :) (1D) - Dbl - (Pass) - 1H (Pass) - 2D - (Pass) - 2H (Pass) - 2S/3S What is 2S and 3S here: 2S a very good hand, but not forcing? 3S should be forcing? Or are they both non-forcing/forcing and the difference is flexible versus only Spades?

[hv=pc=n&s=sakt932hd432cajt2&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1cp1sp2cp3h(Splinter/real%20H%3F%3F)p4hp4sp4np5h(2%20aces%20and%20a%20void)p6hp6sp6nppp]133|200[/hv] 3♥ was meant as splinter, but partner clearly viewed it as a strong hand with ♥. We now agreed that 2♥ is forcing and 3♥ splinter, so this is not really the question. But: - Do you see any bidding that would make it clear after 4♥ that 3♥ was meant as splinter, ...maybe it is better to bid 6♣ after 4♥? (6♣ after 4NT would show an odd number of aces and a ♣ void) - Do you agree with 3♥ or do you prefer 4♥ showing a void? I hoped to have more space after 3♥ to verify a ♦-control with partner before going to 6♣...Maybe I can as well bid a forcing 4♣ to see if partner can bid a ♦ control?

MP's [hv=pc=n&s=sakj5432hdackq432&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1d]133|200|MP's[/hv] I was thinking if I should open a GF 2♣ and then show a 2-suiter or show only ♠. I was still not sure when I saw that RHO opened 1♦. ...What is your bidding plan? (No special agreement, except that 2♣ would be ♠ and ♣ not forcing; 7-16; and mostly 4c♠, probably not a good bid here. And 2♦ would show both majors).

Thanks all for the answers. For #3: It is better to call the first DBL as showing values and not real penalty. Therefor the next DBL is still take-out. => Another one: 4th hand converted the DBL to penalty by his pass. Do you now play his last DBL as take-out or penalty?: (1NT weak)-DBL Values-(Pass:forcing a RDBL)-Pas (RDBL)-Pass-(2C:C and a higher)-DBL?? For #1 and #2: You can also say that the DBL's are not really penalty, but rather values showing. Or better: A DBL after a penalty DBL is only penalty if opps don't reveal a psych by running to partners suit?
-
(2H)-Pass-(3NT)-4H: If my partner bids 4H then I would think that it is Leaping Michaels and not take-out of Hearts.
-
EW Vul...are we EW or NS?MP's or IMP's? If we are green then I will always pass.
-
(Asked in another topic, but probably better to have a separate topic for this question). I think it is standard that after opps run from a penalty DBL then all later DBL's are penalty. But should it always apply?: (2♥)-Pass-(3NT)-DBL (Pass)-Pass-(4♥)-DBL?? (1♥)-DBL-(1♠)-DBL (Pass)-Pass-(2♥)-DBL?? Both examples are opps that are bidding their fit after first psyching. Any other situations were penalty after penalty doesn't make sense? EDIT: And an example that is less clear: (1NT-weak)-DBL Pen-(2♣ Nat)-DBL?? Is DBL Penalty?
-
Strange that you have "at this vul" or did you mean ",also at this vul"
-
Pass (3♦) X (3♥) X (Pass) Pass (4♦) Pass (Pass) ?? What is DBL now? I think it should show exactly this hand: Aces and Kings? (1♦)-X-(1♠)-X (Pass)-Pass-(2♦)-X Normally we play that if opps run from a penalty DBL then all later DBL's are penalty. But that shouldn't apply here?

After rereading I think that I agree. ...Any idea why suitplay also says that J is best? How does suitplay that into account that East would sometimes plays the A?...or is it best to play sometimes the Ace as East??
-
Yes, rereading what he said: you are right
-
Adam, (=both small) I don't understand this: If east would sometimes win the ace with ATxx, but he didn't play the Ace isn't it then less then 50% that East had ATxx (because East would have played the Ace sometimes and West being before KQ would never play the Ace). And therefore I would think it is more likely that West has ATxx?
-
Same for me. (I prefer to bid my values asap) I pass now. Not so much afraid to miss slam, but I feel like any other call then pass is a gamble.

Dake50, Have you read the articles about D.S.I.P. Doubles or are you one of the authors? (Below comments are not meant to say that you are wrong. I try to better understand DSIP and see what would be useful - and better defene our absolute DBL's that are in fact DSIP DBL's on game level - , but I need to be able to discuss some things then :) ) This is not how it is in the DSIP articles. I think that according to the articles both DBL's are DSIP?: 1S-(4H)-4S-(5H)-DBL and 1S-(4H)-4S-(5H)-Pass-(Pass)-DBL And it is also possible that your partner does not have the defense, but missed the extra Quick tricks for the DSIP DBL? In 1S-(4H)-4S-(5H)-Pass-(Pass)-DBL it is still possible that partner has a minimum hand with not enough for a DSIP DBL <or> that he has a good defensive hand. You want to save, but you first verify that partner did not have the defensive hand. If you were 'right' in your previous answer that the balancing DBL on Game level is penalty then you can use that as well in the forcing pass situation? When you are in a forcing pass in first hand (not balancing) then it doesn't really matter if you play?: A ) Standard forcing pass DBL: penalty, no extra offense Pass: some extra offense, interested to bid on Bid: good offense DBL.....Bid: slam interest or; B ) DSIP in forcing pass situation DBL: some extra offense, interested to bid on Pass: no extra offense, want to defense Bid: good offense Pass.....Bid: slam interest Thanks, Koen

2♦ for me. (I only support on a 3c if I don't have another good rebid) Is it an agreement you have with your regular partner(s) that 1m-1M-3m = 6cm & 3cM? What do you rebid when you have the normal 3m hand: with a good hand and 6cm and no 6cM?
