  1. On board #1, I would bid 2S (michaels). But 4H was OK, too. The bad bid, imo, is 5♦. 3 small cards in ♣ was not good, and ♦K wouldn't help much. On board #2, West's hand was borderline, 1N/2D or even 4C (lack of 4th trump). 3C was certainly a bad bid. I would rebid 2C.
  2. 2♠ bid is fine. It is North who chickened out.
  3. I think I would pass. Too flat a hand (and weak as well) to bid freely over 4♥. BTW, it's not likely East was psychic with 5 ♥s unless he had both majors. If he was weak and 5-card ♥, he would be sorry if he found pd with 6-card ♠ and got numbers.
  4. I would over-call 2♥, imp and mp, given the favorite vulnerability. If we are vulnerable, I would pass
  5. [hv=n=sqxxxhkxxdqtckqjx&s=sakxxhaxxdaxxcaxx]133|200|My friend and I were practising in the partnership bidding: South North 1♣ 1♠ 4♠ pass [/hv] 6S was almost laydown (as long as ♠3-2). Who should start the slam try?
  6. These were two boards we played on Sunday's Regional held in LA: Board #1. [hv=d=w&v=n&w=saxxxhxdaqjxc9xxx&e=skj9xhkqxxxdxxcax]266|100|Scoring: IMP Bidding goes: West North East South pass (1♣) 1♥ pass 1♠ pass 2♣ pass 3♣ (dbl) 3♠ pass 4♠ all pass [/hv] South had QTxx of ♠. And it was misplayed and ended up down 3. Board #2 [hv=d=w&v=n&w=saxxxhxdaqjxc9xxx&e=skj9xhkqxxxdxxcax]266|100|Scoring: IMP Bidding goes: West North East South pass (1♣) 1♥ pass 1♠ pass 2♣ pass 3♣ (dbl) 3♠ pass 4♠ all pass [/hv] South led ♣x. we made 13 tricks: ♥Kx were in North and South had ♦Qx.
  7. With my regular partner I would seriously considering opening 1NT with both of these hands. For me (and, as far as I can tell, for most American experts who play 2/1), the 2NT rebid suggests a good 17 to 19 HCP. Fred Gitelman Bridge Base Inc. www.bridgebase.com Thanks for your reply, Fred. Then what would you rebid if you hold 16 hcp and 4-5-1-3 (short minors)?
  8. Then how would you rebid with a hand ♠KJxx, ♥KQxxx, ♦Ax, ♣Kx? or ♠KQx, ♥Qxxxxx, ♦Ax, ♣KQ?
  9. On today's Regional, there was disagreement between my pd and me. Assuming no interference, what is the range of 1♥-1N-2N? And what about 1♠-1N-2N?
  10. I bid 1N and 3♠ next round. 4th ♠ can't be ignored.
  11. When you use 5NT you ARE in 6-level already! When you are short of an Ace and trump King (2 key cards), you still have to stay in 6-level. Or maybe the rule changed, and you can bid back to lower level? When one uses 5NT to ask Kings (or secondary keycards), it says we have all Aces (or first level keycards).
  12. This time you need to give more choices, something at 7 level, and more detailed desciption on bidding process. Is trump agreed or not? If yes, I would bid 7 of the agreed suit, else I would bid 7♣.
  13. I slightly prefer 2C to 3C as I didn't know the direction for this hand yet. As Ben said, if 2C gets passed, it's not likely you have a game. My preference: 2C>3C>3S. 3N or 4S would never come to my mind. 1N is the only bid by SOuth. 2H? unless you play a totally differenct system.
  14. Agree with Ben with one exception: pd could have CK depending on the agreement (if Ace is cuebid prior to King).
  15. Ooops, no 6♠ (copied everything from previous post, only added the level to 6). Only 6♣, 6♥ or 6NT. Still want to double?
