  1. Since I would bid 4♥ over 3♠, I don't have to answer this question. Well, If someone passed for me over 3S, I would pass now.
  2. Now my hand got upgraded after opp's S bid and pd's dbl. My ♥AK, 4th ♥, ♣A and stiff ♠ were good. It worths more than a typical 14 hcp hand.
  3. Agree. Declarer might ruff H lead, and discard C losers on D (after 2 rounds of trumps). So, I would lead ♣A.
  4. O.K. Seriously, now. If the 4-spade bidder were Fred Gitelman or Zia, would you really double? How do you like your chances, now? So you mean they NEVER over-bid?
  5. Well, I have to pass then. Pd didn't balance with void of ♥. He must be broke.
  6. Don't understand the question. From what you posted, you seemed to be the opener.
  7. Yes, I would overcall 1S.
  8. We have 8 top tricks, 1S+1H+3D+3C. I would pitch a ♥ from dummy. DQ and D to A and DK. If DJ drops under DA or D33, I am home (will try C if they are 3-3 as well). If D wouldn't run, I will try ♣s. If C 3-3, I have enough. Finesse ♥ as the final resort.
  9. ♠Q lead looks automatic? not to me. I think ♣A(K) lead is automatic. Whether or not EW could take 11 tricks on defense is another matter. But to lead ♠Q was obviously a bad move when you and declarer hold almost all the hcp.
  10. I don't have a clear answer. I might open 1H on some day and 2H on another day, depending the status of match and the my mood.
  11. 1NT. As for the hand, the bidding could go: 1C-1H 1N-2C (xyz) 2H(S)-... 2H or 2S depends on agreement. I prefer 2H though.
  12. 4D, to show ♦A. 3NT was completely wrong, only novice would bid like that. If pd's ♣ were good (plus a sure entry), why don't play some level of ♣ contract. If ♣ were not good, where did you find the 9 tricks?
  13. It is always (well, almost) good to introduce a second 4-card suit before rebidding 6-carder.
  14. I would try slam, too, based on whatever convention is available. Wolf might be the best.
  15. Double without second thought. I have club fit and both majors.
  16. Though dbl and then simply bid a suit could be a little more than 18hcp, this hand is too much, especially after opener. I would cue-bid 2C or jump to 3H.
