  1. 4♣ is the bid that caused confusion. have to bid 5♠ now.
  2. To open 1NT with singleton is master-mind. South deserves such result.
  3. not clear about the vulnerability. White to red: 4♣, 3♣ otherwise.
  4. I am surprised to see that I am the only one to vote for 5♥.
  5. Let me try. The worst: East's third pass, 100.01% The second worst: East second pass, 100% The third worst: East's first pass, 99.99% In all, East got 300%.
  6. Thanks, indeed, Ben and pigpenz.
  7. Agree, the straight-forward bidding.
  8. I voted for DBL as well, denies ♥ and shows a balanced hand, with extra for the dbl.
  9. I voted for 3♦, the suit which needs help the most.
  10. Well, who said 3♣ shows 6th clubs? It is the weakest bid, imo.
  11. I voted to 3♥, suggesting ♣s were good but ♥s were short (stiff or void). If my pd had 2 stoppers with [CL} honor or solid stopper with ♣ honor, 3NT would be good. Otherwise, we have to play 4♣ (or even 5).
  12. Agree mostly. With white to red, 4NT was OK to me though a little aggressive. And as Hannie pointed out, 7S was reasonable, too.
  13. I prefer 3♣ slightly over 3♥. And I surprised to see 4♥ without mentioning ♣s.
  14. I second. There is no perfect way to open such a hand, and I would open 1♦ as well. How to open a 4♦-5♣hand, it depends on many thing: the qualities of the suits, the strength of the hand, the distribution of majors, and how the points are distributed. If ♣s are very good, I would open 1♣ and prepare to rebid 2♣ unless pd responds 1♦ (or 2♣ etc.). And to raise pd's major with good 3 support, or rebid 1NT (if strength is within the range, 15 is on border for 15-17 NT opening). There are some other types of hands you just can't open and rebid properly without "distort" them.
  15. I would bid 3♦ over pd's 2♥. Slam is not easy to reach, though, as others pointed out.
