  1. I think it's a good slam. Yes, with C lead, slam fails. On the other hand, with D lead, you are home (unless it were ruffed). With a major lead, you have more than 50% chance, finesse or squeeze. That being said, I agree with the following sequence between regular partnership: 2C - 2D (promised something) 2S - 3S (slam interest) 3N - 4C (3N: serious 3NT) 4N ...
  2. Agree. But still, pd should bid 3H, give pd the chance to choose between 4H or 3N.
  3. 2S guarantees another bid, so 3H is forcing.
  4. 1) bid 4S directly. 2) open 2H. 3) This is a little tough. I might or might not raise to 4S as North. As South I might double: over North's 2S, I would raise to 4S or bid 3H. 4) 1H is OK (on the borderline). But I would bid 2S over pd's 2H.
  5. I am voting for another "2S wtp?"
  6. Though I like to open 1C with 5-5 or 6-6 blacks, I would open 1S with this hand. Spades was too strong vs. clubs, they can be treated as 6-5. And I would not open 1 weak 2 on this.
  7. Well, with this hand, I would rebid 3D especially if pd rebid 2H, unless pd passed over my 2C.
  8. I admit it's a tough decision for me. If I want a swing, I might bid 6C. If I want to be prudent, I would double.
  9. I am wondering why I didn't cash ♣A at trick 3 before exiting with 3rd ♥? Well, now I exit with a club.
  10. In my system, there is no such call as 4S. The only choices are 1) 1S, the weakest and forced bid; 2) 2S, 8-11, depending on the quality/strength of ♠ and other honors; 3) 2D, game forcing (or forced to 3 level of agreed major); 4) 3S, 7+ (could be decent 6) S, weak hand. The last option was adopted with agreement only.
  11. Win C in hand, heart to King and diamond back. If East has DA, whether or not he plays it, I am home: if he wins with DA, I need only one D ruff; if instead he plays small and my DQ/K wins, I can ruff 2 Ds in dummy. I loss 2S+1H+1D only. If West has DA and wins, I can still ruff 2 Ds since he doesn't have D left.
  12. Small club toward 10. 1) Assuming West plays small and it losses to East, I play DA if East returns D. and get out with another D. 1A) East has DK and wins second D. If he returns a red card, I ruff in hand and pitches a club from dummy, and do the finesse again. If he returns club, I play 8. This line fails when East has DK and CKQX(x). 1B) West wins with DK. whether he returns a red card, I will do the same as 1A). If he returns a club, I play J from dummy. 2) West plays small and it losses to East. 2A) If East returns a club (he is likely to have DK), I insert C8. If C8 wins and West shows out, I cash CA and exit with 4th C and hope I will have no D loser. 2B) East returns a heart. I ruff at hand, pitchs D from dummy and eliminate D (ruff laston dummy) and get out with small C and I am home. 3) East plays CK/Q, I cover with CA, cash DA and exit with D. Whoever wins with DK, I am home.
  13. Yes, I am for 4D (assume it is forcing, otherwise why would I big beyond 3NT?).
