  1. people got thrown out of junior schools national teams when they opened 2 hearts here. if this is your preempting style, ok but thats definately not standard.
  2. it slightly changes the game, because i know when i have to start swinging
  3. additionally the +++ means that they share their wellfound bridgeknowledge as a commentator of vuegraphmatches, outch......
  4. to be honest i never heard of swreg..... do u have a link? however i additionally never heard of a business accepting swreg in europe..... and i do a lot of transactions online.
  5. if 3♠ answer is constructive for example u have no chance to PRE the opps with a 3♠ bid, and get doubled for 11000000 :) actually i am a more or less believer in the LAW so if pd doesnt have the tool i probably tend to react differently to opps interference.
  6. after having experimented with that 2 minutes timewindow after the first accept to upload hands into a teammatch i would appreciate if there was a regular option to do so. if players accept too slow, there is no way of getting the job done. The need for that feature is there i guess @ least for teaching reasons in groups of less than 12 people.
  7. depends what funny things u play after the 2NT opening. with some of my pds it goes 2NT - 3♠(x-fer to 3nt or STR minor) 3NT - 4♦ 4♥♠ (pos/neg for slam) and so on. in a casual partnership i like 4♦ but i am afraid that many will take it as Majors.
  8. yesterday i wanted to do a favor to some of my BBO friends. so i tied all 5 PC in my flat together and created a teammatch with 4 identities of my schoolgroup (my 4 network-PC) to simulate the results of the BBowl97 hands i had generated and me and my 3 fellowplayers to compare our score against the celebrities of 97 @ the other table. i planned to adjust the scores of the "simulationtable" to the scores of 97 via the TD-option. everything went ok until i tried to upload the hands to the match. i am quite familiar to do this because i have done it at many occasions e.g. the youth matches USA-Germany. this time i had no chance, because after about 5-8 seconds after the last player had accepted the match started. has something changed in that process? any chance to set that time back to the 2 minutes we had before? or even better, an option to upload hands after everybody has accepted?
  9. i would appreciate to get a copy too somehow. films about bridge are so rare... actually besides the dvd-coverage of istanbul 2004 i have never seen any dvd dealing with bridge again.
  10. not letting him play quietly @ his own table i assume.
  11. do they allow 5cd majors in their 1nt overcall? if yes the removal to 2spades wouldnt stand i guess. and i would set the contract to 2heart down whatever doubled. if not the run isnt based on UI but on the obvious mistake by pd, and that is not forbidden. if the system notes are unclear nobody is entitled to correct anything. u are not supposed to tell ur opps ur hand but ur sys. so in this case i would let the result stand.
  12. probably one should think about 2 different levels of enemies = additional way to mark them. level 1 = serious offense, reported to abuse (all IPs blocked) level2: persons i dont want to play with/dont want to have them in my tourneys 4 other reasons = only nick is blocked.
  13. hm, these seem to solve the problem, to be honest i dont dare trying it  http://www.wanginator.de/posts/22/ http://wiki.bsdforen.de/index.php/Firefox_und_MIME_Types
  14. however while browsing for the solution i found out, that it is a wanted feature of ff 2.0 for security reasons. i additionally found a 5 pages description how to change something in the sourcecode of ff to allow the direct procedure. i will post the link when i have found it again.
  15. sigh, i tried it but the lin file opened as sourcecode again. additionally my norton security reported an external attack bei some IP-adress 102.000.*** i will talk to my provider tomorrow.
  16. i have been trying this for the last 2 years. gerardo was of some help, but to be honest it still doesnt work. my computerskills unfortunately dont match the problem. this is sad for *lin because many people would use it much more often to display hands.
  17. i am trying to watch every session because getting comments from the involved players in retrospective is one of the most effective learning tools i have ever seen.
  18. i am afraid, that with the growth of BBO the number of cases for abuse is increasing as well. so i think 2 days is a rather short time to expect a ban for that player. the last 2 similar cases i know needed about 10 days until they had been banned.
  19. agreed, 95% of the people in my enemyfile i dont want to have in my tourneys for minor offenses and i didnt report them to abuse. however blocking them means that my tourneys run smoothly because i have near to zero disconnections. the last 3 or 4 tourneys were really annoying because those who have been blacklisteted were those who caused many disconnections again. running only 1 or 2 tourneys a week i am sure none of them would change their nick just to take part. if so i wouldnt care because in this case they are supposed to behave i guess. as longer a nick is used the more intense are the bounds of the user to his nick. therefore i would prefer to have a working enemyfile blocking only the id not the PC (IP) of the offenders. a different procedure should be applied to those who are reported to abuse for serious misconduct.
  20. the sad thing is, that the enemylist i use is the result of running tourneys 4 about 2 and a half years. kind of sad, that this work seems to be wasted. what amount of nicks is processable? does it help to add a second list from a file on my pc?
