one of the best books ever for % freaks is "the dictionary of suit combinations" by roudinesco. all u ever/never wanted to know.

Play handles should be left justified
chicken replied to markevan's topic in Suggestions for the Software
but it looks neat, without seals :-)))) -
ask fred. however remember that it is commercial software. reverse engineering of a dotw file is possible, but as i understood it not really wanted (and right they are!). i heard that u can buy the 1 year licence if u want to work with an editor.
-
some points to be made in favor of ucla this year i heard.... but after the huskies went down i will trust nobody :-)
-
that would be agood task for the bridgebrowser wouldn`t it? i wont mind playing against other scores than the original stuff if they are prooven by a sufficient number of deals. as far as i know the original list is based on the data of 2.500.000 boards.
-
i assume the average player wont play enough hands to even out the luck factor. i still wld appreciate (and use!) russian scoring with the human always beeing the declarer.
-
as a converter, generator, and analyzer still dealmaster pro with implemented deep finesse is unbeatable. only 4 the presentation of hands u need a program with a nice easy interface , here i use jackbridge.
-
agreed with roland. however great opps not realizing that they are supposed to have written a 70% score, 3nt beeing cold with 6!d and 3 aces. :-)
-
as far as i know SEF and German FORUM D+ play it as 5-5 17+HCP
-
i guess partnership bidding was not designed to create hands. whatever it is, i suggest to use dealmaster pro, jack or another suited device.

1.) u can play monoimp, playing against the expectancy of makeable contracts according to the HCP ur side holds. downside: any standard game with 22 shapish hcp is rewarded with a gameswing in imps. the scale can be downloaded on our homepage if u want to give it a try. 2.) we play a competition called "play with the stars" regularly in our club, but u need a lot of time, or a machine to duplicate boards. (thank god, we have such a machine) u just have to duplicate one of the zillions of lin-files in nikos archive and write down the already played results, then u can play a regular teammatch parding the bridgecelebrities at the other table. (u obviously better chose a close match, to even up the chances.)

hm.... still no hit.

negative x with stronger hands
chicken replied to plaur's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
if u dont play negfree bids 3♦ is sign off, because u didnt bid them in 1st round. for the same reason i dont like the x because a 2♥ bid first wld have solved a lot of problems. -
ok, so ben maybe can remove this thread :-)))))
-
if i am not too blind, there is hardly a possibility to get dates/times of the lecture hall in advance. that should be changed somehow.
-
i treat it slightly weaker than a regular overcall because of the distributional advantage, but i know people playing it unlimited.
-
look @ my nick. 3♦
-
hm..... do you share the intermediates with the bil-lounge or did u make an agreement with maureen and the rest when a billie should leave BIL and enter your club?

Sorry, I dont understand this. Surely there are no unfinished boards in an unclocked tournament, completely different thing to a clocked tournament. jb i tell the players and put it in tourney descr. that they have all the time they need (unclocked tourney), but i will adjust all boards which are not finished after 36 minutes (when playing assumed 6min/board in a 8 board tourney. so the tourney runs smooth, because everybody can play in his/her tempo. the very slow players will get an AVE= on usually one board( no 6) but very often everybody catches up. normally i have one adjustment when playing a 20 table tourney this way.
-
i think afk within an already finished round makes no good reason for blacklisting, however the rest of the reasons can be found in my list as well, but 90% of blacklisting are for leaving a tourney.
-
the problem is, that very often u will find reasons and excuses which are not as obvious as a valid claim. therefore i prefer to do unclocked tourneys and adjust the boards which are not finished until last but one round. (e.g.: adjust after board 6/8 when playing 8/10 board tourney) this makes it about 3 adjustments in the whole tourney playing with 20 tables because usually the players catch up with the easy boards.

Custody Hearing (Humour, off topic)
chicken replied to bridgejoker's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
agreed -
i would like to have bbo leagues, and it would be a nice thing if team games were easier to arrange. ( to get players out of a sortable pool?, better filter options?, turn lobbychat off but still be able to play?)

i think u did everything according to the rules. if u think that the pair should be penalized because of the talking then a procedural penalty should take place, but in my opinion this is no UI problem.
