  1. That's why i wrote it can be played if West has♣K & East has 2-4-1-6 distribution with ♥Q. 1. Take ♦ 2. Play ♦-East does'nt ruff 3. play ♦-East does'nt ruff 4. play ♠-West takes 5. West plays ♠-ruff in dummy 6&7.Cash ♥AK 8. Continue ♦ & let East takes his 2♥tricks. OR 2. East ruffs 3. East returns ♠-West takes 4. West returns ♠-ruff in dummy 5&6.Cash ♥AK & continue as above, East will take his ♥Q OR 4.West returns♦ -East ruffs 5.East returns ♠ -ruff in dummy 6&7.Cash ♥ AK & continue
  2. Thank you for your kind words.I did'nt know that some posters are so keen to insult fellow posters by even going back to their profile data & mocking the information given for a mere slip of mind which was quite obvious. As a much more elderly person wish you good luck in your endeavour.
  3. Play small ♦ from dummy & insert ♦ 10 if Rho plays low to cater to a 4carder ♦ in Rho's hand it improves the odd of bringing 5tricks.
  4. It can be played if West has ♣K & East has 2-4-1-6 distribution with HQ.
  5. Mostly East.East knows that South has DQ & atbest another A(otherwise game is making) but that can'nt be spade as West would have Club AK & start with that so he should establish ClubK before discards are possible.
  6. Preempts particularly major suit preempts work. For making a ♦ slam, you atleast require ♥K & ♣Q {assuming preempter is having the ♠A} easy ♦distribution. So after 4♦ bid, partner will naver be able to show those features & only can raise into 5♦ & then it will be a gamble to bid slam.In that case it is better to bid 5♦ to give partner a chice to bid slam depending upon his hand & judgement. On the other hand slam in♣ requires 4 carder ♣Q & easy ♣distribution. Now it is a choice between pass,5♦ & 4♣.Difficult hand to bid,my choice will be 4♣-still a gamble :(
  7. Perhaps the easiest way for the beginners to find solutions to such problems will be to think of it as a goal achievement such as, 1)We have already got two & require one more.Surely K♣ if it can be protected being finessed two times. 2)How to do it-By shortening the club length in dummy. 3)How-By forcing West to ruff in dummy. etc
  8. If East has ♣Q, then with 2Q.T & 11 pts he probably would have opened.Better to take finesse thru' West.
  9. Pass. Partner is not expected to hold more than 5/6 pts,his 1nt call was forced.Normally he would have passed 3♥ but his 3nt call indicates he may have ♥Q.
  10. Discourage.East is marked with ♦A &♥Qx & is likely to hold a ♠Honour in which case the game is making as the finesse is working. Our only hope that South holds ♣K & switches to a club so that North can lead a Heart to set up 3♥+2♣ tricks.
  11. Ido not understand why there is a pet peeve in denying global warming with some obscure logic & data ! The taste of pudding is in it's eating. As global warming also brings substantive climate changes, you only need to follow the recent drastic changes worldwide to draw your own conclusion.
  12. If partner has a typical minimum hand as cited,Imo he would'nt have ventured over 1NT knowing the limitation of the responder.
  13. DBL,B.O.P is with East-West & West can support balance 3suits.
  14. Let us put it this way, from East's perspective 1.Declarer with ♣j,no matter contract makes. 2.Declarer with 4carder♣w/ O j,no matter contract fails. 3.decarer with 5carder♣w/o J,cotract makes if East discards a club.
  15. With maximum 5 high card points,Lho's jump to 4♥ requires more extreme distribution Imo,like 2-4-6-1.
  16. As Rho has'nt opened 1nt it is presumed that he has a sigleton. If the singleton is ♣ then ♣9 gets promoted so only hope that he has a singleton ♦ & ♣A9x.
  17. Out of 7 nos of black suit cards,if decarer has ♠Axx defence can not do anything(3♠,2♥,1♦,3♣with a J hook). Thus hoping declarer having 5carder ♣,preserve♣.
  18. 1.♠Q 2.Ruff a♦. 3.♥Q,Discard a♦.
