  1. Caitlynne is spot on (why did we not open 1nt, ) p cannot have four ds , i have min opener, pass and take 2/5oo what lead. Qhts looks best. No point asking questions if one p has bid badly
  2. One spade is a forced response and says four spades and 0+, so to follow with 3c isa nonsense, with no values hence 2c should have been first response then 2s over 2hts showing 5/4 and 6/8, 2c also shows 0+.until next bid but would deny 4s. In short on the hand given with seven pts 1s is wrong
  3. 5h clear, p has four hts and even if he has two aces six could be hard.
  4. Sometimes a clam is rejected despite opps accepting it. It should be impossible to lose tricks whch cannot be lost as at he table
  5. Good players tend not to cheat, bad players do but cheat obviously, you are getting a persecution complex, these were bad players playing badly
  6. Oh dear your bid must be based on partner havng his, where are his sven tricks,? If you assume p is an idiot then pass if not 5hts double suggests no one knows and everyone is guessng
  7. Weak nt, not playing 5cd mjrs and checkback works well as it allows you to show 5/3 and point range.
  8. I can xplain the 6club lead esp when east knows you do nt have four spades, all the rest is glaringly obvious and on js presmably east would play the ten to show his heart entry, sry all ypur fault they gave you the contract and you gave it back, lesson leant?
  9. No openng lght in fourth is generally not advantageous, esp if poor majors bid hts five p can still bd spades.
  10. Read all the card play and quizzes from Goren, "better bridge for better players" and Gardner / Mollo how to be lucky/ the play of the hand.lea n all the safety plays and odds, count to 40 and 13 on every hand and suit. All the time. Play with and against players who are better than you are, not BBOadvanced or below. Take the stick, three nights a week, and Friday to Sunday five sessions with someone as keen, pay for a teacher, not night school or BC a pro. Watch the best when you are not playing live eat sleep it, be content all four social contacts become me bridge players. Martin Hoffman went from club rubber player, high stakes to Life master in less than two years! Easy isnt it just like inning a gold medal!! Join the best bridge club you can find, good luck.
  11. It used to be be extended stayman asking for three card majors
  12. Lovely example years ago your partnership got wrong and lost out, how long to get thar back? And cyberyeti great hand let me know when it happens, meanwhile count the cock ups people have with the convention.
  13. Because all those who say they play it do not seem to understand when 4c is or is not gerber.it is generally taught to beginners who like it because it is lower than 4nt. The only circumstance it might be played is directly over 1/2nt and then very very few hands merit this approach if any. It is the province of the beginner thats why no one at a decent level plays it.
  14. All the good players I have known over many years can remember all the cards more or less of in all the hands for 48 hours at least and often ages more, and the harder the hand and the line they took for weeks especialy if it did not work.
  15. Double is wrong from you bad advice, let alone then bidding clubs . you are fixed stay fixed is generally best esp at pairs. If you must bid then 3c is the only possible bid to describe your hand.
  16. Giv en partner inexlicably passed 1heart is wrong, you have game in your hand (only three losers) open 2c and then construct a reasonable bidding sequence. If p had open ed and you hav a three loser hand on ltc 7+ 3 = 10 from 18 leaves eight so eight hearts appears to be a reasonable nable contract!
  17. Means what it says you are going to game, we play this sequence as iforcing as lebensohl allows us to bid 2nt which ds 3c then 3hts is not nvitational and shows spade weakness.once in gf sit. Going slow shows slam interest
  18. Dont play 2/1 but 3d is possible in acol, 2c check back no t great solution, and I can rebid spades over 3nt, over 3h from p i can bid 3s.
