  1. Yes, i agree: i' ve tried to combine a minimal (8-9points) with strong of partner but with a minimal is correct don't bid a new suit (but if bidding is not exact[=poor bidding..] could be that is it so or be Q/J or xxxx in spade and any point aside..)
  2. It seems, bidding ♣ and ♠, that you have such as ♠ Kxxx ♥ xx ♦ xx ♣ AJxxx and your partner (if her bidding is correct) ♠ Axx ♥ KQx ♦ AKQxxx ♣ x that allow 5NT and your partner to try RKCB(d)..
  3. This type of hands makes declaration problem (and discussion with vary point of view confirm it): if let's talk about value we don't have 10 points because 4-3-3-3 has -1 point (svalutation) for shape and -1 for Jxx (honor not protected) than 8 points declaration on level (2♦ 4th), for 1NT bidding is required control in heart otherwise nothing 1NT and if is true that this is hand passed 2♥ required more points (12/13) (spade in N are 4th..), bye.
  4. Probably rho had an max 8 points than remaining 25 : with 15 opposite we can consider to continue (and also partner) to bid.
  5. I have ruled myself in this way (so my partner knows how much strong is my preempt): with an hand to barrage (hand type 7-2-2-2 or so) i apply Courtney losers that in this case are 6 then 7 winners + vulnerability penalty(=rule of 2 and 3) for level determination that i correct in (more exact) rule of 1(vul vs not vul), 2( pair vul), 3(not vul vs vul) [in Courtney losers for barrage i don't consider winner Queen being control of 3th round subject ruff]. I bid 4 ♠.
  6. Let's talk about shape : when we have in West 1) ♠ 2-4-5-2 in East there is 4-4-1-♣ 4; 2) in W 2-3-5-3 in E 4-5-1-3 ; 3) in W 3-3-5-2 in E 3-5-1-4 ; 4) in W 3-4-5-1 in E 3-4-1-5 ; 5) in W 4-4-5-0 in E 2-4-1-6 ; 6) in W 4-1-5-3 in E 2-7-1-3 ; 7) in W 4-2-5-2 in E 2-6-1-4 and we can see that with shape 3) and 4) whatever opp discarding we have 13 tricks , shape 5), 6) and 7) are less probable than i consider only shape 1) and 2). Whit shape 1) East have a free discarding in club whilest with shape 2) in heart but on another diamond take to be unilateral heart or club than rescouting top spade and high cards in suit of discarding of East we realize a balanced double squeeze on last diamond. I think that probable shape in West considering opening leads be 2), 3) and 4) ( lacking bidding for ultherior indication).(Lovera)
  7. I think should be preferred to use West or East instead LHO and RHO.
  8. We know that rules for double (informative) answering are : with a weak hand (minus of 6 points Milton Work) first to bid longer suit (also when there are two suits), if same longness (MM, mm or Mm) cheapest bidding between them (when the only suit with 4/+ cards is that of opp bid the suit of 3 cards immediatly higher (cannot bid 1NT because this answer showing a certain force not has be used to indicate the lacking of a declarable suit), with an intermedie hand (6-7 points MW) with two suits (Mm) must be preferred the major(=M) suit, with 8-10 points MW bid both the suits (if it is possible) starting with higher one ..(From Stayman system "Answere to double" pagg 269 - 275)(Lovera)
  9. It should be that GIB having not support for spade inviting with 3♣ (one loser in clubs ..) with its balanced hand (what is the meaning of spade jump of South yet if passed with only 5 points and spade not protected ? It is not better to bid hearts ?)
  10. That the points indicate for 4♠ clicking on yellow square on score don't corrisponde (17/+) with the points in the hand:this one is good on first level (1♣ - X and then 2♠ for N. The declaration on level for GIB has mixed(=don't good control by programmation for concordance) the things making, in this case, a misunderstanding (to program is not always easy). Bye.
  11. I don't think so: when i have played with GIB i had the impression it used Stayman count (it well, i too) and it agrees me for valutation (bidding also). Now let's look yellow 4♠ .. From Stayman : (43) ♠ A Q 10 8 4 3 ♥ K Q 5 2 ♦ 8 ♣ K 3 Bidding 3♣ ?= Double - Don't overcalled 3♠. Your partner may have 4-5 hearts and a singleton on spade. The good player don't miss any eventuality that can be investigate without risk.(pag.262..Stayman systeme..) There is not corrispondence with the hand(=points) in post 1 whilest yes with my hand indicate (43) then i think it depends from software(=progammation) and not by GIB.(Lovera)
  12. It may be (?): W N E S - 2♣ p 2♥ X* 4♣** p 4♥*** *=i'm "not" crazy **Reese asking for Ace *** 3 cards in clubs 1 Ace p 4♠* p 5♦** *= asking for King in spade **= King of spade p 5♠* p 6♣** *= " " Queen " **= Queen of spade 6NT p p p (with the willing to go in NT..)(Lovera)
  13. I think as you have said too because the opening 2♣ that i use is based on my consideration to count only longness plus Milton Work : in this way 2♣ is used more often but if not consider longness (21 points) we must open to first level applying official method (G. Barbone) (4 losers x 5=20, Milton Work 19). All it is depending as you like ..(Lovera)
  14. The problem is to look for a bidding to 6NT : opening 2♣ (and applying Reese convention yet ) is easy to get 6 ♥ or ♣.
  15. Either my post in "Michaels" (from N. Ghelli) or other posts in that topic (see Lovera/"Find my content") allow "pass" of East with 4-4-0-5 also considering that in natural systems clubs bidding on 2 level (preventive) is not considered (=unbidding) and, consequently, hypothesis on distribution. Probably East had 4 club (10xxx?) but this one serve to evidence risk of a ruff in these circonstance (high unbalanced shape).
  16. As i have said in my replay post for Johnu i differently ruff spade once to retain J to execute squeeze and to get point of action i need to play another trick (finesse ) on my (wrong) hypothesis about heart King position. Fourthemore i had thinked triple squeeze (that doesn't need dummy reversal as i have already explained) to act against East. Initially we think clubs are good and way to 13 tricks but when we know 4-0 try to compensate moving our aptention to East (too much perhaps). As i have said in other post when opp are silent (lacking information) points remaining are divided 50 - 50 or 60 - 40 (%) or it meaning 4 in W and 5 in E or 3 - 6 and we know (by opening lead) already 5 points in East .. than we should consider a plain to avoid impassing (i simply consider my plain to have and cover many possibilities). Bye.
  17. The valutation of this hand is 22 points (distributional) too strong for 1♠ - 3♠ (max 19 p.) whilest for 2♣ 20 points (counting only longness) then having 4 losers (see "Counting Quick Tricks or.." in "Find my content") x5=20 and being pair (or inferior points) i open 2♣. Probably partner bids 3♣, i bid 3♠ p. 4♣ showing 5/+ cards and by 4NT we have information about high cards ( with RKCB to correct )
  18. The situation in heart is particolar: whatever East do doesn't escape. Let's suppose that he had King and play it then we have a re-entry with Jack and we ruff 5 (second ruff the first in spade). Now we run diamonds on the last East is squeezed spade/club (dummy reversal+simple squeeze)To avoid this East if don't play King Queen run, 5 to Ace and now we have spade J against Q, heart J against K, xxx/AKQxx in club for an automatic triple squeeze to gain two tricks (let's note that we don't consider clubs covering all shapes in suit). If East had (but is not probable here) hearts 6th 5 can consider menace (rare).
  19. We can fullfil the contract only with the condition of club honors divided. This play become probably when we think 3-2 diamonds and clubs. In this cases when we have to find two tricks to think dummy reversal is natural (it gains one trick) re-entries allowing for ruffing (remainig a trick to find) otherwise we can think (if is it possible) to a repeat triple squeeze to obtain the two tricks that we want. Here are possible both this plains, on the assumption King of heart in East and having (on opening leads) the indication that Queen of spade also, we don't warry of clubs.
  20. Why in this topic dasn't continue the discussion ? This one seems not hardly to risolve and a nice problem. A consideration: after we know 4-0 in diamonds is higly probably that East has clubs (unbidding) 5th ..
  21. It is intesting what's happen when we lead Queen of heart.
  22. I playing Stayman and 1 NT 16-18 are just with 30 points and unbalanced hand. The subsequent bidding discover 2 Aces and 2 Kings (remaining two Jacks or a Queen)..(see also "Appeals on BBO").
  23. I playing Stayman: 1NT - 3♦ (trump) then having NT max p starts with cue bid 3 ♥ - 3♠, 4♠ (K) - 5♣, 6♣ (K) ..(see also "Appeals on BBO").
  24. Infact (how i' ve thinked) and this consideration (by IOC) may be better than expression of a tribunal, thanks.
