  1. The problem probably it must see considering Matchpoints rules. Infact here 3♦ by W is one down whilest if you rightly bid 4♠.. is the same. Than 3♠ is a good score but considering all it.
  2. Probably you have another way to evaluate pre-empt whilest i play Stayman and, seems to me that : with a 7 card you have more losers, with an 8 cards to bid 4♥ you need almost 3 top honors in heart it being an aggresive preempt whilest it is just for losers and vul (at pair vul winners + 2=level).(Lovera)
  3. Such as : copying the URL of ShowBoards #7815 Rock around the clock 1 and inserting it in google search is the same resulting :1 traveller, etc. But if i want select in box searching all 4♠ contracts (there are in any travellers) and insert togheter +4♠ exits : a long number with indication not found (but is the just proceeding ?).
  4. With the occasion..i ask here it because is an information that can be usefull also for everybody: is it possible to have a way (i.e. search box how google) to make more quickly a serching of a type of contract ? Last time (via recent bbo ACBL events) i wanted to see all contracts of little slam. For doing it i must see all visibile boards beginning from 1 traveller :if there is not what i was searching i tried 2 traveller and so on untill i found what i wanted. This one is extremely slow requiring a lot of time. How it is possible to select directly a seach i.e. all 6♥ ? etc. Thanks, bye.
  5. There is not time for squeeze. Instead from bidding and vul. E should have 2-8-1-2 with K of club for 6 losers(=7 winners). Cash spade, hearts and K of diamond (against stiff Q) and impassing to West.
  6. Hi, i want only to say that was not to criticaze anything but 1NT bidding that anyone chooses to use with a 5 card major suit (instead to limit it in a minor suit) and here are yet six cards, bye. En passant, is always riskyous to think at impasse to gain tricks. Instead needs to find a way to avoid this one solving in other way.
  7. I don't think this one is optimistic. We can lead on heart ruffing : if 3-3 are home otherwise become dummy reversal (with another heart to ruff). En passant :i don't like 1NT with 6(!) hearts, instead 1♥-1♠, 3♠-4NT, ..
  8. When we bid 1NT is because : we have max 11 points and no suit upper 1♥ and cannot bid another suit at second level because are required almost 12 points. Than 2♦ over 2♣ doesn't stop bidding as is forcing a round. That allows us to have informations to avoid misfit.
  9. Probably because N is a student, i think, it is happened this one. Infact is strange for me that N had bidded ("immidiately") raising heart (that S must play)and "forgot" the self-supporting club (that N must play). Instead to bid 2 ♠it'd been better 4♣ to indicate it. Via kickback is easy to get slam :4♦- 4♥(=14), 4♠(? for Q)-5♥(=K+Q in club) and "les jeux son fait". When this process is terminated you can change also in 6NT.(Lovera)
  10. I too think that to hide the 6 cards diamond suit could not be a good idea (and with a form of risk) because : opener has shown, until now, an half-balanced min.(max 16 points) and with our points we cannot get much in high. But with a 5431 by opener we can perhaps contribute. If we raise immediatly club it meaning a simple choising between heart or club not just with an 1- 1 - 6 - 5 that, fourthemore, is not good for NT.(Lovera)
  11. For instance W is squeezed in ♣+♦ (put 9 in diamond suit). I call this endings iMPASSE /eXPASSE because works at 10th(=dieciMPASSE in italian language) or 9th(=noveXPASSE) trick. It is a secondary or preliminar squeeze because after leading squeeze card it is involved (usually) the opp squeezed (that wins a trick). More properly it is a preliminary trow-in squeeze. In expasse ending the opp realizes the A + the card of throw-in for two tricks to defender.(Lovera)
  12. This new "type" to play has a good valence on the side of "learning" togheter with the "history" of bridge hands and i have presented, to give an example, an hand "for all seasons" (to consider for beginning) but there are many others more difficult or with a major difficult or choising of alternative in bidding or play (i.e. World Championship in Napoli on 1951). The simple fact to have an hand of these ones bidded by a world player has a "psycologic"effect that must be considered and, fourthemore, it is a form of "condivision" that makes to prove a different sensation respect an usual hand.
  13. The hand to be bidded are:N ♠ Q4 ♥ QJ1042 ♦ 1094 ♣ 742, E ♠ K108 ♥ K ♦ A72 ♣ KQ8653, S ♠ 763 ♥ A8653 ♦ 865 ♣ 109, W ♠ AJ952 ♥ 97 ♦ KQJ3 ♣ AJ. Open room : W(Sharple)- N(Trezel) p E(Sharple) 1♣ S(Jais) 1♠ !, X - p - p - 1NT !, 2NT ! - p - 3♣ - p, 3♠ - p - 4♦ - p, 6♦ - p - 6♠ - all p. Comments: Trezel leads Q of heart to A of Jais, then Sharple impasse Q for one down. Closed room : W(Bacherich) - N(Shapiro) p E(Ghestem) 1♣ S(Reese) 1♠ !, X - p - p - 2♥, 3♥ - p - 3♠ - p, 4♠ all p.Comments: Ghestem-Bacherich decide don't try slam, Ghestem guess Q of spade and realize 12 tricks. At two tables "psyche" seems has changed anything (From XXVI - THE KNIFE UNDER THE TABLE in "Bridge a la une" by Jose Le Dentu).
  14. Let's look what could be happen when you enter in this new club and sitting at table (i.e. in N position) eventually waiting for another player : when cards are on before bidding, BBO tell you that this hand has been presented during the meeting of European Championship between England and French team, and if you are in: N bidded by Trezel (open room)-Shapiro (closed room); E bidded by Sharple (brother)-Ghestem; S bidded by Jais-Reese ; W bidded by Sharple-Bacherich. You don't know final resulting and try "maxima pars" to obtein the same realization. When all bidding and play are done, at that time you can see the hand bidded and played in Oslo by two teams cliking "Other Tables" and in 1) you have situation of open room in 2) situation of closed room.
  15. Hi barmar. Let us to explain. I write in English but maybe sometime anything may not be clear. If one enter in Main or Relaxed club and seat how 4th player at table starts bidding and freely gets to the end doesn't knowing the final resulting and playing a casual hand (in a partscore or game or slam or simply how defender). Here, in this new club, at beginning is the same :the difference is that the player and the other three ones know that are playing an hand, selected by BBO group from a database, becoming at an important tourney (i.e. Oslo, Sept. 1958) bidding by bidding as If were theirs to play at.This two hands (open and closed room) are the par or reffering for players about bidding or play (with inevitable differences) for seeing to get at the same result at the end of bidding. Than is required a preventive selection by BBO group for this aim and in this way we don't have banal hands but surely hands with "anything" of particolar regarding bidding or type of play or also both ones. This should be interesting and also instructive and than improving play and players. I hope to have cleared my thinking, bye.
  16. It is not about recent hands but the "classic/old" hands. It'd make the same thing as in i.e. Relaxed club hands :those that are presented at four players at table it'd be "random" or casual in a normal type of play. Instead it must select (or prepare as choising) hands significative and initially (for "breaking the ice") that not had a difficult on play. Such as: the suggest hand of Oslo 1958 presents a "cut" on bidding (a psyche at first round by English and French) and is not hard to play. It'd be interesting to see how anyone play and gets at the same contract or if can be better, bye.
  17. No, it is not what i have requested. For instance i was talking about application B♠B BridgeBase and under "Start a table" Vugraph is not (there is a competitive or relaxed table). But i was talking to present hands already played by world class players in the same way that is done for Main or Relaxed club but that are significative for "anything" and that can became also instructive and usefull to see again. In that manner it can be a good thing to find (or not) difference on bidding or style of it. I think it should like, thanks.
  18. To see (and anytime could be possible) that one player bids a better or more sure contract or play better (it is more difficult).
  19. When you want to play you select "List All Tables" choising such as "Main Bridge Club" or "Relaxed Bridge Club" or other in the list. The idea that can have success, be interesting under many points of view, is to insert on this list i.e. "International Bridge Club" where are presented to be bidded and played hands from great meetings/tourneys where world players (Reese, Albarran, Culbertson, Garozzo, Romanet, Jacoby and so on) have played real hands. This hand should constitue the "par" (as in Golf for each hole there is a par to strike) and whom plays can to have a refer at the end of bidding and play to see the inevitable difference (if there is). Necessarly the hand must be briefly presented (i.e. Oslo 1958 Sharple-Sharple* vs Trezel-Jais in Open room 6♠ by E*; Bacherich*-Ghestem vs Shapiro-Reese in Closed room 4♠ by W* ( The * indicates position of player ). Can be interesting only to see the hand and its play too (for improving).
  20. This integrative post it'd be considered at analysis level (that in bridge should be implemented). We are studying the case AKxxx in trump agree and relative support for (eventual) 10 card fit (lacking Q) but is interesting (and i have seen that's happening in real play) to consider its "reverse": AKx(x) as support with player that starts RKCB having so obteined :1) to know all existent controlls aside agree trump; 2) having partner bidded previously trump suit necessarly must have Queen and this one indipendently longness (that usually is 5 or 6 cards).
  21. Thanks to you. Explanation of 6♣: see well because doesn't tell 1/4 keys but instead Q+King as you are saying. About captaincy you are right but having GIB bids 4NT, however, it is solved necessarly considering positives answeres to 2♣, bye.
  22. I think that needs to consider what GIB tells also : 14+ totale points, 5- in H (8421). Than in heart is probable J togheter K. Instead read 14+ as 15. Bidding 4NT GIB must have 2 Aces and this makes 11 points and for the other 4 should be almost a Q than, not having completed, another honor there is (K). It should be helpfull to you.
  23. Hi Lycier. I have seen that i have dedicated most part of your time to GIB that you should know its "language".GIB is cautelatif because is a robot and anytime has not data to proceed. Instead you should know that having 4 Aces GIB with a positif answer must have the other 3 Kings because it is one of the requisites (the other is Ace in a suit and KQ in another suit), bye.
  24. Yes, it is so. But while i was searching for another aim i have found this thread and i wonder myself that anyone had seen and said what i have told as general information.(Lovera)
  25. 7 NT (at double dummy you can see) there are because on the same play on diamond impasse, W is squeezed ♠/♥ at 10 trick on last club.
