Hello. I had to say that you don't think i don't want hearing suggests. I have tried to develop a new more simple and alternative method based on controlls (becaming from an old conv. and "up-to-date" relating with RKB ) naturally to verify; subsequently in my last post i have indicated the remaining steps (for 2 or 1 c.) to complete this my idea. This last part of this conv. can give any problem and for this aim i have initially to analyze when are more controlls looking for hands to confirm it or if can find any problematic case (but i don't untill now), bye.

It's a smart concert with a nice, light but powerfull listening.

Let's continue explaining what's the meaning of "this conv. can be expanded". When i have told 5 controlls initially intending refer to 2A+1K it was for a more probable case but you can have also 1A+3K(=5 c.) when 4NT is bidded and for him is easier to read hand of partner that is more defined. Infact reponses are: 5♣(=2A) and in cue suit 1 or 2 round c. but subsequently ansewers, necessarly, reveals in cue an A and with 5♦(=1A+1K) whilest 5♥/♠(=2A+1K) and Q indication and remaining available 5NT for other meanings. The ultherior case is when there are one or two controlls in reponse(= one King or Ace or two Kings). To avoid ambiguity this eventuality succeds when a simple raise(=1 M-2 M) or a NT bidding has limited the hand in force(=11 points max) excluding responder has more Aces or Kings. Then, and doesn't get off contract, answers are changed in 5♣(= King of trump), 5♦(=1A or 2K with Q of trump suit), 5♥(= idem without Q of trump suit) with a top honor in trump suit but the case partner had indicated a self supporting suit. The third case is when in the hand of responder there is a void. In this latter interesting situation to differentiate with other biddings the cue is up and not below trump suit (can be possibility to indicate a generic void also not in cue suit but in other one in the hand) expanding range and complexity in this bidding.

It should become from : ♠ Q8 ♥A5 ♦ - ♣ 2 in N; ♠ K6 ♥ Q98 ♦ - ♣ - in E; ♠ 5 ♥ K73 ♦ - ♣ J in S; ♠109 ♥ J106 ♦ - ♣ - in W. I, now, use the Cicchelli notation as i have said in "Duoble squeeze thecnique in C. Love" (see) : ♠ Q8 is 1sf+1f(sf=unfavoreble, f=favoreble position, 1=one card), ♥ A5/K73 is 2dr/3dr(dr=doppia ripartita- twin entry double menace), ♣ 2 is N(=neutra or idle card) while J is C(=comprimente or squeeze card). This one is a position of trump squeeze (having 5 togheter J as trump) and in this way we have a two loser squeeze (3 winners on 5 cards). But again this one is used in a NT contract (6NT :♠ AQ8 ♥ A52 ♦ Q64 ♣ A1092 in N-♠52 ♥ K73 ♦ AKJ5 ♣ KQJ4 in S with the opening lead of ♠ J and is not possibile rectify the count because could be five hearts in E that had the King of spade. MILANO). Invertited A and Q in heart suit and inserting other two winners in trump we have this three losers. Usually the "rule" should be :two suits two losers but there is, as Love said, an exceptional case. I want suggest, when presented this type of trump squeeze, to inverted position, for a better viewing and understanding, the hands of N and S and obviously W and E. In this case i.e. the diamond J should be in S.(Lovera)

In NETHERLANDS-CHINA we can see better this one: N/S ARNOLDS/VAN ZWOL Bidding 1♣-1♥, 2♦-3♦, 4♦-4♥, 4NT-5♥, 5NT-7♦ and play :after three rounds of trump Arnolds lead ♣ A and then Q.. It is interesting to note that after 4♦ three is not Minorwood but cue [with Q and 9 invertited in ♥/♠maybe 4♠(=?)],bye.

We can see that once club are estabilished in one or two rounds there are 13 tricks and with an RKB bidding is necessary indication of controll of second round (5NT ? - 6♣) to leave partner possibility to get grand.

Hello. I think that a commentary about this type of (International) hands/players must be considered with a due respect. So standing things, perhaps, can be interesting to know why anything is or not happened. We are in Round Robin RR1TURKEY vs. FRANCE and in board 5 Acar bid 7♠ after partner has shown a control in heart(=A) with its overcall. Why him tries to find King of club in E and not impasse in diamond or think at a (probable) squeeze and in the other table with this type of hand and after the RKB sequence that has shown the Ace of heart and King of diamond how not to bid seven (here the squeeze is) ? Let's consider another hand : N ♠ QJ10753 ♥ A8 ♦ A93 ♣ K7 S ♠ AK64 ♥ KQJ64 ♦ KQ ♣ Q4 Bidding: N-S 1 ♠-3♥, 3♠-4♦(=cue ,1/2 round c.), 4 NT(=almost 5 c.)-5♦(=1A+1/2K, A or K in trump) and S if want to know how many K N has bids 5NT :the answer of 6♠ means more(=2) Kings.

When 4NT bidder needs to clear eventual ambiguities can bid 5NT and, to retain the same method in RKCB, it is possible to have this one: 1) on answer of 5♣(=2A+0K) needing to know if in cue suit there is K or A: 6 of cue suit with K, 6 of trump agree with A(=no K). On 5♦/♥/♠ needing to difference alternatives: with K in cue suit plus a K aside bid 6 of an aside suit below trump, with A in cue suit plus 1 K aside bid 6 of cue suit, with 2/3 Kings bid 6 of trump agree.

Hello. I can suggest, if you and partner play the (classical) 4 - 5NT Blackwood to use (for this aim) roller-Blackwood (IL 4 SENZA A RULLO in "Il libro completo del Bridge" by Guido Barbone). This conv. ( that fourthemore doesn't required to have partnership all four Aces when query for Kings) is usefull when (and expecially in minor suit) trump is already agree. After answer to 4NT Blackwood it is necessary skip trump suit (because this meaning sign off) and bidding next step you query for Kings (i.e. 1♦-3♦, 4NT(=?)-5♦(=1Ace), 5♥(=? for Kings)-6♣(=2 Kings), 6♦(=end)-p. In your case: with heart agree 4NT-5♦, 5♠(=? for Kings skipping 5♥ as sign off)-6♥(=3 Kings), ... (Lovera)

It is natural to refer it at RKCB (as definite) because either much used or other slam searching conventions have done (and this one too). When a trump is agree and at 4th level is bidded a new suit as cue partner, if conditions are, is sollecited to 4NT to know controlls in three suits aside (eventual ambiguity can be solved via 5NT) that complete its hand (this mechanism could be expanded).

Hi, i am glad to see that this my topic seems very interesting. For instance i want say too that those indications of values are limited in first cue (1 or 2 round) and not necessary means partner had to continue in Italian style cuebidding using instead classic way. To complete the informations about Queen query on 5♣ and 5♦ could be used two steps schale (Q not/Q yes) but i suggest to remain on RKCB mode (cheapest K plus Q=suit of K, suit of cue= Q plus A in cue suit).

D-I is for Declarative-Interrogative where 4NT is not Blackwood but a generic cue bid showing extra or values not yet known insert in a cue-bidding sequence.

The first cue (i.e. 4♣) should sure an hand with Ace(s) and one or more Kings in the suits aside plus almost a top honor (A/K) in trump agree but in case that partner had indicated a self-supporting suit (it doesn't applying when there are 1 or 2 controlls) and than we could have this schale (if it is considered that 5♦ for 0 controlls is available because otherwise useless) : 5♣ 2 A (4 controlls=c); 5♦ 1 A + 1/2 K (3/4 c); 5♥ 1 A + 3 K or 2 A + 1 K (5c) w/o Queen; 5♠ idem with Queen (the two cases can be differentiate); 5 NT 2 A + 2 K (6c).

I, instead, want to start from 4♣(=cue) because this hand is adapt for my topic "Most had been told ..." in Expert (see). In this case 4♣(=1 or 2 round first cue and cards in opposite self-supporting heart suit) starts 4NT Bw for controlls (5/+ controlls -A=2, K=1) bidding by E and,than, the answere of 5♦(=3 controlls) reveals 1A+1K (it is being excluded 3 kings) and E can count almost 12 tricks with the Ace of club by partner (having E king in this suit) already at this time.( My topic http://www.bridgebas...__1#entry863943(Lovera)

Between already indicate two similar conventions my schale is close to Norman 4NT. Let's put an hand: N ♠ AKQ104 ♥ K42 ♦ K4 ♣ A63 S ♠ J86 ♥ A5 ♦ AJ9752 ♣ K8 Bidding :N-S 1♠-3♦, 3♠-4♣(=cue 1or2 round), 4NT(=almost two Aces-Bw for controlls)-5♣(=1or4 controlls)-7♠. With the answer of 5♣ N knows that S has nor 4 Kings neither 1Ace + 2Kings than has two Aces plus King in club (having N the Ace) and the ending is automatic.

This type of information via controlls is more used in most artificial systems and istead is it few watching for 4NT bidding but already ruled (i.e. Smith, Norman) and this mine to relate with RKB has plus information for Queen. I have evindetiated answeres with more two controlls but to verify eventual ambiguities it is necessary to consider the other cases. Infact more probable reponse seems to be 5♦(=3 controlls -1A+1K) and when 2(=A) is it possibile to manage conv. to sure it for partner in according to previously biddings selecting ultheriorly all possible answeres (any in the complete schale can be incompatible with 4NT bidder hand).

The argoument, as explained, it exuling from keycards answering on three suits aside of cue suit with controlls. It usually happens with club as cue having in the hand one or two kings more. It also interesting to confront keys answers vs controlls such as 5♦(=2A+K of trump) vs 5♥(=2A+ 1K w/o Q) or 5♠(=idem with Q) but King can be determinate if 4NT bidder has two kings.

Hello. It is not just so because i will not change RKB at all (it's a good convention as structurated and for we have talk about). I suggested that "only in this case"- cue bid followed of 4NT by partner- instead of answering with keys indications have to show controlls. Infact. Than i.e. 4Cl(=cue to exclude in 4NT)-4NT(=Bw for query with trump heart agree). What i try to develope is : have you considered the possibility to change the meaning of 4NT Blackwood in this way ? Instead to answere for keycards Bw query for controlls putting K=1 controll, Ace=2 controlls and using the same schale of RKB (i.e. for controll1430 14 controlls-not keys-3or0 controlls,5♥=2 or 5 w/o Q, 5♠=2or 5 w Q and 5NT=6 c.= two Aces +2Kings). I was talking about cue bid of first/second round control. At this point we can have two possibilities : if partner continues to cue bid should have an Ace + King of trump agree whilest if bids 4NT shows two Aces (getting additional information).

Tx, it is part of one possible reponse. For instance this one it must base of agreement in partnership or part of RKB convention ? And more, there are correlated conditions aside ? I don't say that you have an answer now but i want to know how much this problem bidding is open.

... about RKB approach in all its variants (minorwood, kickback, etc.) but i have seen very fews discussion for cue bid and subsequent 4NT by partner. Let's suppose that agree trump (i.e. heart) it happens enter third level and a player bids 4m with cue bid meaning and partner starts with 4NT. How do proceed bidding ? It must consider cue value or not in answere ? (I think that i'll have different solutions), thanks.

Infatti nell'articolo di Caterina De Lutio del mese di Aprile "Un clash squeeze a New Orleans" che si trova in Tecnica non si tratta di clash squeeze ma di una compressione doppia in cuori (con unilaterali in quadri e fiori) dove chi ha la donna sarà costretto ad accorciarsi per mantenere il controllo della unilaterale. Infatti per evitare i rischi insiti nella riuscita di un'impasse il gioco di compressione è uno dei mezzi a propria disposizione.
