This use 1M-3M indicating a preemptive hand (GIB uses it) when i played with i didn't like because playing the good and omogeneous Stayman system (close Culbertson one and its rules) there meaning is :a balanced hand with 14-18 range of force. This system use preemptive when inteference there is (1♥-(1♠)-3♥ instead of raising with 9-11 points turn in 6-11 jumping at 3rd level. I think that is better ruling so as in Stayman system.(Lovera)

In this hand are two suits with 8 cards than it is tendentially a 6-keycBlw but a suit remained hidden. After 2♣ followed by 3♦ partner show force it being answered rever that with touching suits means a 5-4 hand (why doesn't raise ?). About RKB 6 ♣ infact query for Q (why ?-6♠). -
How to get to 6 Spades
Lovera replied to dickiegera's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Once existed, on 2♣ and 2♦(=minus 7 points MW) Blackwood conv. variated so: 0A and 0K=5♣, 1K=5♦, 2K=5♥, 1A=5♠, 1A and 1Q=5NT and ultherior roll Blackwood asking are about Queen number. So in this case 4NT-5♦=1K, 5♥(=roll Blw-?Q)-6♦(=3 Queens).. -
Infact, as Jinksy has told, the other case (see my post #6 too) are positive answeres : if in query suit there is Q plus a Q aside is indicated suit aside (i.e. 6♣(=? for Q)-6♥ with also Q in heart suit) or 6NT with Queen alone.
-
For lmilne: (However, using 6-level bids as asking bids in that suit, e.g. asking for third round control, can be very useful when looking for a grand slam.). I don't know if it is an your idea or you have seen this in any my post: for third round control we are talking about Queen and doubleton(=xx) how for second round are King and singleton(=x) and these latter distributional factors (xx, x) should be also considered in RKCB (relatives) answers. About it we are agree, bye.
-
When partner bids 6♣ asking for Q otherwise with 5NT have had information about K♣ starting cue bids in RKCB. If there is not Q in query suit the answer is 6 of agree trump. This information is on regard about specific quality on a suit that is in interest such as 6♥(=? Q) bypassing 5NT.
-
May i suggest to show this hand with a diagram and bidding so that could be easier talking about it ?
-
In this bidding both players set spade as trump than 4NT is RKCB(s) but if responder prefer club as trump because not has used 4♦ as kickback for club suit ?(Lovera)

S.Stayman, considering relative use of 2♦ in his convention, makes this one to search minor suit fit. Transfert use it'd not allow 2♦ answer query for minor but reserving major suits for 2♦ bidder instead should be it possible. I, infact, am going to try using contemporary both ones ruling consequently (2♦ ambigueous). At this aim, to avoid duplication of meanings, 2♠(=trf) is weak. En passant: if is used 2♣-2x, 3♣ as weak, to pass and play for club suit fit, 2♠ might be used, perhaps, as special transfert directly to diamond.
-
There was another hand at table plaied for 2♥+1 and bidding was 1NT-2♦(=trf), 2♥ having in heart not (sure) controll but AK in spade. In this case we'd have 2♠-3♥ or the same bidding if AK in heart instead spade.

http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&myhand=M-5575028-1433424667Let us to see the other case when we apply 2♦ in this way and we are not interested in minor suit (how we can difference and clear):1NT-2♦ and partner informs, however, about sure stopper(s)=2NT because are in major suits but bidding heart(=3♥) limit and stop.(You can visualize cards and bidding of this board 6 in post #11 by Phil on answering to Lovera, thanks) West (sillafu)...............North (des42).................East (tsadek).................South (limly) ♠ 643............................KQ10...............................AJ85..............................972 ♥ 98743........................K10.................................AJ52..............................Q6 ♦ A9..............................QJ10752.........................86..................................K43 ♣ Q65............................43....................................AJ7...............................K10982 W-E vul N-S not vul Bidding :W - N - E 1NT S p, 2♦ p 3♥ p, 4♥ p p p

For instance i have presented two actual real cases on these two situations. Then, as i had already said, insert Jacoby transfert becoming 2♦ ambigueous so: if 2♦ bidder switch on heart (at level or jumping) or pass eventually 2♥ leaves minor suit search. Furthemore bidding 2♠ (instead 2♦) is weak transfert for club, bye.

The bidding of 4th suit (forcing a round) query for a"stopper" or complementary to a "stopper" to play NT (if at third level warrant a subsequent bidding but is not forcing game) .. According to a variant a jump in 4th suit meaning acceptance of the second suit of the opener inviting to slam (starting cue bids etc).
-
I was thinking at splinter and its use and i am of idea to limit it enter third level indicating singleton in suit +/-1 respect probable trump (so singleton in spade or diamond if heart is probable trump and so on for other suits). When arise a situation like this (=4th suit) togheter splinter meaning we can estabilish a priority to difference. So i said: is 4th suit if has bidded (early) NT for its use to know stopper, splinter at third level if has not bidded NT. So if spade is not trump should be probably used to indicate splinter for (here) club suit.

In Italy, when i has played on tournament in my town at club, the use was that when is made a bid with conventional meaning and not natural needs beat with hand twice on table without explaining anything so indicating that bidding was conventional (eventually opp can required my partner). But i have seen that playing in Bbo club players alert in box of bidding indicating also (in this case) [kickback]. So i think that it can be indication to apply convention indicated(=kickback) and it could be an indication or helpfull for partner. Is this also on tournament ?
-
However i think GIB doesn't use Reese and any player use jump in 2♣ with other meaning. I like suggest (as i have done in other posts) this convention.
-
I think that my question is similar: in a bidding with diamond trump by,let's say, S partner N bid 4♥ that is kickback (having already bidded heart nat in early round). We know that this bidding can (sometimes) confuse. Than alerting 4♥ [kickback] is not an indication for partner (that doesn't risk to confuse) ? Is this allow ? Thanks.
-
I have wrote so because i have used Reese convention that can apply on this hand. Infact jumping on 3♥ meaning heart is selfsupporting and is estabilished as trump suit fourthemore contemporary query for Ace(s) by steps so 3♠(=0 Ace-first step). Now if S bids 4♣ query for King in club in the same way than here 4♦(=0 King) otherwise 4♥(= King of club+almost xx in the trump suit[the convention requires xxx but also xx could be sufficent]). If S want to know about Q/doubleton bids 5♣ and with this information ending in 6♥. The third step indicates singleton (4♠) and raising query suit meaning Ace or void.
-
Althoug if N has more K in club are 6♥. Are you able to know it easily ?

For another situation see my post #11 in "Slam play technique" on Intermediate and advanced bridge discussion, bye.

Any idea how to bid this one
Lovera replied to xx1943's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
The answer should be 3♥(=splinter )-4♦ because if not exactly so we are in trouble again. I find that to require two types of bidding (see also the precedent post) to integrate RKCB in this/these case(s) can be a point of aptention meaning : in what case or condition we can necessarly do so ? -
Any idea how to bid this one
Lovera replied to xx1943's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
After to have considered necessity of cuebidding, to extend this concept let us suppose this : in N spade and club are the same cards whilest heart and diamond are changed (7♥, 75♦) and in S spade and club are the same cards whilest heart and diamond are changed (8542♥, AQ♦). And now what happen and what can we do to solve situation ?
