I can also have 5d and 4c and i guess ill have to bid NT even with 5431. with 5/5 minors i guess i can bid 2c, but i dont think i will ever show my diamonds. Frankly it doesnt look to me like a system bug, more like no system, you decide to limit your 1d to 17 hcp but you dont have a bid to show 18+ hcp, so why do you limit it at all ? I am reading the polish club system and i like it, but this is one weirdest things i have ever seen in a system, just like ill say my syac 1H is 12-16 and with 17-22 i will have no bid. How does my alternative playing 1d as 12-21 1h/1s as 12-17 looks ?

Double of opponents cue bid
Flame replied to Flame's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Free its not wierd its just that you think playing it the opposite way is better, and even tho i didnt think about it too much i think you are right, yet there is always a benefit of playing as natural as you can, for once it will be esier to remember. Anyway you basically agree with the second approach that the lead is more importent here. -
How do you bid unbalaced hand with diamonds and 18-21 hcp ? As i see it since 1c-1d-2d show any GF you have no bid. You can try 1nt, or 3d but its not a real solution. Since there is no real bid, i am thinking why not playing 1d as 12-21 and only limit the majors to 17 hcp ?

LHO open and partner overcall, RHO cue bid, examples: (1s) 2c (3c) or (1c) 1sp (2sp) What does double show now ? As i see it there are two possible answers a. Support, this could be 3 small cards. b. Control in the suit and at least doublton KX or Ax. a' is better for competitive ressons , and b' is better for the lead. The answer might depend on the cue bid meaning. There are 3 cases (2 and half) 1. The cue bid show support (for major) ex' (1sp) 2c (3c) 2. The cue ask for stoper ex' (1c) 1sp (2sp) 3. The cue is either stoper ask or spport (or both) (1c) 1sp (2sp) What do you prefer for each case ?

Can you and your favourite pard bid this one?
Flame replied to whereagles's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
LOL. Everytime I play a slam like this, I get a ♦ lead. So I win the Ace. I play one round of !Cs (out of habit, because here I need a 2-2 split anyway), and then play a ♥ to the King and back to the Ace. Everyone follows to the first round of ♥s, but when I play the Ace, it gets ruffed! So I go down in 6!C. Oh well, I know I should learn to play better. You should go down in this contrat if you play correctly. look one post above for the right play, you dont need a 2-2 club split. -

Flame replied to whereagles's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
The play here is also interesting, in 6c after a diamond lead, you should play 3 rounds of clubs imidietly ruffing high in your hand, then get into dummy with club, and play another heart, discarding a diamond from hand, wather its ruffed or not you will make the slam. playing trump before heart or trump after you ruff the heart will get you 1-down when trumps arent breaking. -
I think 1NT is better at 3rd seat, (1d on other seats) but i there is a good chance i would open 1d at the table if i think its better for my partnership.

Dbl seems the best here. Dbl is takeout, it doesnt necessrily show 3 hearts.

Yes i wrote a mistake and then i changed it but forgot to change in one place. The one of 2 finneses is only when clubs are 5-1, if clubs arent 5-1 when u have a finnese (spade) + 3-3 club, + 4-2 clubs and Kx heart or K heart. And you can add the example i gave on the next post. i estimated this to be around 70%.

Happy B-day man.
-
Also not mentioned before line B makes when LHO has A???? Kxx ??? Jx
-
Line B isnt that bad, its far better then 3-3 club. if clubs are 2-4 you are making it if one of the 2 suits (spade and heart) works, this mean either a spade finnese or a Kx or K sgl heart with the doublton club. even when clubs are 5-1 you can still make if the both spade and heart finneses works or when the sgl club is with KX or sgl trump. To compare those lines, both lines will make if one of the spade/heart works (heart breaks for line A is finnese working while for line B its K sgl or Kx with the short club), and each line add something else to this , line A adds a diamond finnese while line B adds a 3-3 . I think when someone leads a small diamond a finnese is better then 50% (especially after this bidding which calls for aggresive lead) and better then line B. But if like in your question i think the diamond finnese is not likely to work i will choose line B. A problem not discussed is not being able to ruff a spade in dummy when you need to, because they take your trumps out. Both lines are good, I estimate line A to work on more then 90% and line B on more then 70%

Double is a bad bid because partner suppose to leave it with many many hands that you wouldnt want him to. like xxxx AJ xxx Axxx partner might pass 3c with this (add some hcp if you need more) 3c will probebly make while 7D is cold for our side.

There is a system called ModernRigalPrecision on daniel systems which after 1c -1d bid 1H = balance, or 2 suiter with heart the longer. 1S = natural 1NT/2c = transfters..... you can use the same idea in a simpler way, 1h for balance 17+ and 1nt to show the heart suit. I still believe simple is the best and 16-19 1nt (open 1nt with bad 16) is fine.

Not too happy about playing in 2N on a combined 22 count. Not sure, but I might prefer to stay out of 3N on some 25 counts. Perhaps a 6 count and a 5 card minor? One of the problems of a 4 point range 1N rebid I guess. I dont think its a problem, i wouldnt like a 1nt rebid that responder will always pass, i prefer responder to be able to bid with 6 hcp, yes we get get to a 22 hcp 2nt and go down, but i still like to get my majors, with no 4 card major i might pass a 6 hcp, but even if i bid, there is still a chance of a nice 4-3 fit at the 2 level.
-
I'v already mentioned magic diamond, i think if we are thinking about 4 range, they those ranges must begin with 8 hcp (would prefer 7 but its illegal)
-
Some Polish club are 4 range systems 0-11 pass 12-18 1c,1d,1h,1s 19-22 1c 2c- 23+ Also Magic Diamond is a 4-range system.( it could be a 5-range system if you add a normal 2c) I am not sure precision will get any better with a 4th range, it wont make my life that much easier after they interfier, and bidding with the strong version will be very bad if it starts at 2sp. lets say i play normal precision and partner always assume iv got 16-21, so when i really have this range , we didnt get anything by adding anew range, and when i have the 22+ i would prefer to open 1c than 2sp, and servive when they interfere. (having partner assume i got 16-21)
-
Solving this problem in a simple way is a good idea, the problem isnt too bad, the chances of partner having 0 hcp are small even when you have 19, so in real life when you have 19, partner will have atleast 4 and 2nt will be fine. A simple way of making this little bit better is rebiding 1nt with 16-19 2nt with 20-22 thats how it is done in super precision. Their development after 1NT (16-19) A. 1C-1D-1N- Pass = 0-5 2C = 6-7 HCP, either 4441 or balanced 2D = 16-17 HCP, no 4-card major 2H = 1444, 2S = 4144, 2N = to play 2H = 16-18(-), 4H Pass = 4H min, 2S = 4S not 4H, 2N = to play, 3H = invit 2S = 16-18(-), 4S Pass = 4S, 2N = to play, 3S = invit 2N = 18 HCP, no major Pass/3NT = to play 3C = 18-19 HCP, at least one major, GF 3D = Stayman (promises a major), 3N = no major interest 3D = 19 HCP, no major, GF 3H = 1444, 3S = 4144, 3N = to play (continuations for bids below just like after opening 1N) 2D = xfer to 2H 2H = xfer to 2S (may be 4S-5m invite) 2S = 6-7 HCP, 5-5 in touching suits 2N = weak minor, or 6-7 HCP 5-5 in non-touching suits 3m = invit 3M = invit

Nice biddings, 6c is a great contract. In reality its much harder to get to those slams and not getting there when you shouldn't, its much easier to see the hand off the table and check that you can get to this slam with your current system. Your spiral scan way of bidding it looks good, the point is to know what you need before you ask, see that what you need is possible in partner's hand, and that you can check for it without getting too high, sometimes even when its possible its too unlikely and you wouldnt like to give all the info to the opponents just for a rare case when it can help you. all this should be done before you start relaying. Ben's natural bidding 1S 2C 3C 3D 3S 6C Pass I dont know about the 3C, the book bid (beginers bid) is imo 2nt, but 2sp seems much better here. and the continuation is also far from ovious. wouldnt north bid the same with AQxxx xxx Kx QJx or with AKxxx xxx Kx QJX or AQxxx Qxx Qxx Qxx Im not saying you wouldnt bid the slam , its possible to bid it in any system, just that its much easier off the table and therefore you will get your prize only when you do it around the table.

I like this fit jump, i dont think it have to be KJ+, the fit jump main purpose isnt to let partner count tricks and bid slams , its more of a tool for partner making the right decision in cometitive autions, here i want partner with A of K or a diamond lengh to know , his diamonds are much better offensively then diffensively.
-
This is something i began to do and i think its a good idea. When an opponents claims against me, i accept it only if i believe he should have claimed, i will not accept a claim just because the cards are working for him, for example if a contract go down on a 5-1 suit break , i will not accept the claim even if the suit really is 4-2 or 3-3. The resson i do this, is because some players claim too fast, they just claims and hope for good, if the claim is accepted then its good for them and if not, then they have some information that they should play carfully. sometimes people accept claims just because they dont like to check it, and sometimes they accept because when seeing all the hands the game looks ovious, but from declearer "blind" point of view he/she can still go wrong.
-
If he droped the 6 of spade then partner can play anything he like (a minor penalty card) only if he played the spade (like he thought the lead was a spade) then its a major penalty card. also if he drops or play the 10 of spade its always a major penalty card.
-
Bidding 3h with super max hand means you might get too high, but also means you might find a game you wouldnt otherwise. adding the LOTT into the equasion, you gain more then you lose.
-
I didnt notice its MP. The line of runing the J of club isnt too good for MP.

I read this article, but i am guessing those guys are polish and knowing one polish guy , i cant tell you they arent objective, the guy i know think everything in poland is better , especially the women.
