I would lead my spades expecting a ruff, or another suit only if i got 5+ cards in it.
-
Your style is importent, its not a good idea that both you and your partner will push due to the favorite vul, usually its the first bidder job to take the vul into accout, some players will bid this cue bid with less the 5-5, some (and i got one in mind ;) ) might bid this with 4-4 , so you shouldnt punish him by pushing further.
-
Your right, my mistake, forget this ;)

A[hv=n=sak765&w=s2&e=s1098&s=sqj43]399|300|[/hv] This is the trump suit and when you play the A east revoke and doesnt play a spade, then you play 1 more spade and find out about it. Now you can and should (its legal) play small trump and let him win, this will give you an extra trick because you will get 2 and lose one. You can create varients of this when the diffender should make sure he wont win a trick with a card he could have played at the revoke trick.

Hi Ron Where can i read Matula or any other serious stuff about PC ?
-
I have no good bidding for this and would be happy to see yours, actually this sturday, l held a 18 hcp 1453 and opened 1c , partnr bid 1sp, and i followed with 2nt, he then bid 3sp with his 6 card suit and my 3nt just set the contract without me showing my diamonds which at the other table after 1d opening and 2nt rebid took them to an easy 6D.
-
I would want to bid a natural 3sp now, the question is if this shows 3 card or 4 card, imo in a natural system this should show 4 cards, but playing walsh this should show 3 cards, and with 4 cards you should support imidiatly. In general i dont like the slam chances and wouldnt make too many efforts to get there. if i cant bid 3sp, i would probebly just bid 3nt.

Jurnalist leads. a great way to help declerer.

Looking for Real Diamond Precision systems...
Flame replied to jtfanclub's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
I played this kind of precision simply by passing 11-12 hand with no bid, i dont think its a bad idea to pass 11-12 balance hands. on some good 12 you can open 1nt. Another way which i think is good, is kind of sweedish system, the 11-12 hcp balanced are added to the 1c opening. the oviuos advantage is the good 1d opening which now show atleast 4 card unbalanced and usually 5 card, another advantage is having less interference by the opponents. -
Why is this good (ther others were good)
-
This is not really allowed after 2D-(X)- I ment pass. Mike :P Thats a bad idea.

I dont understand those who bid 4sp, even if 2sp is GF, partner has 4 spades (even this is in doubt) so why bid 4sp on a 4-3 fit ? does 2sp must be a hand which want to play on a 4-3 rather then 3nt ? i think not, I can understand 3sp and passing a 3nt from partner. I understand the principle of fast arival, but this is only when you know the which kind (NT or which suit) you want to be in, if you dont then you can still check for it, and this doesnt necassarly show a stronger hand.
-
what you bid and why?
Flame replied to happybridge's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I would double to show 4 card spade, 1sp would almost always show a 5 card in my system, I believe you that this isnt the best way to bid it, but i think this is the normal way. only after 1c (1d) we play 1m to show only 4. -
responder only has THREE spades doesn't he? so why the comment "partner doesn't know we (meaning resopnder?) has 4 spades?? I was reffering to another posts on the same subject. on this forum.

Ofcourse bypassing a 4 card major will many time mean we wont bid a 4-4 major fit, but these 4-4 major fit doesnt necessarly be the best contract on those hands, our suit is weak and partner suit is probebly weak too, we have stopers for all the suits and we have other long and strong suit that might be very good for 3nt. On do i know our suit is bad and we got stopers ? because without stopers and good suit we would bid 4M on assumingly 4-3 major fit and partner would just smile when we surprise him with a 4 card suit we denied. And sure this wont win 100% of the boards, im sure we will get some bad results from this here and there, but on avarage when you consider some benefits of this hiding a major and the small danger of it, you can find cases when its the right plan.
-
We play the simples version of it, only weak 2 in either major, our 2d is therfore not forcing. Now how should we continue after 2d (D) ? Im pretty sure that the normal pick a major bid is 2h and not pass. but what are pass and redouble. my guessing pass = long diamond can be a weak hand. redouble = strong hand initially intending to catch the opponents , but still must have some diamonds (4 small maybe) because partner support to pass it unless very short in diamond (doublton is short ?) Please help if you know how it suppose to be.

Where did you learn such a tretment for doubles ,when you have to look at your hand to know which kind of double it was? This idea of two way doubles is probebly something you catched from bad players who instead of learning the meaning of doubles , trying to guess them from looking at their hands, and i advice you to forget it, you dont have to look at your hand inorder to understand the meaning of a double. This doesnt mean two way doubles can never be right.
-
a hand like Qxx x KQ10x xxxxx is more of a problem because with this i dont want to be in 4sp on 4-3 , so maybe on this hand i should bid something else (2nt/3c)
-
3sp, if this is about the question before then true partner will never know we have 4 card suit, but sometime with 4-3 he will get us to 4sp, and if we have 4 he will be happier.
-
Takeout - i play that any double is takeout unless we duscussed it first, and this one we didnt. If i would have looked for the optimal bidding for this specific sequence (which i dont because i dont want to remember a set of rules for each sequence) i would probebly double for penalty and bid 2sp with the diamond+club hand.

How should I bid this?
Flame replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Do you really cant imagine even one hand that bidding 1nt will give you a better score then bidding 1sp ? The way to solve this question is not simple and not clearcut, its a big work (not worth doing atleast for me) of checking many many hands. Again never said 1sp is wrong. -
How should I bid this?
Flame replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Exactly my point, he first said its a crime but when a good player like you said he would bid 1sp then he reconsider and said its not a crime anymore, this is exctly what i ment, i would have no problem if you said its a clearcut before luis said he would bid differently but after he did, its just cant be a clearcut. it can be right but its not a clearcut. -
You didnt mention any bidding, and with these hands they might have bid.

How should I bid this?
Flame replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I dont understand how can you say that. If a student of mine asks me about this and, i will prbebly tell him to bid 1sp, this is importent to understand the basics of bridge, that majors come first, that 1nt denay 4 card major, this as i mentioned before is the book bid, but this doesnt have to be the best bid, and when atleast one expert is telling you he would bid 1nt instead , you can throw to the garbage words like clearcut and automatic(unless i dont understand this word and it means something like the book bid). Your saying clearcut here just make me think you are close minded, not ready to learn, overconfident, arrogant maybe. sorry if i offend you here but thats how i see it.
