  1. If its possible in your system not to show spades and ask for 4 aces, its better for this hand, if later when hopefully you find 3 aces with partner , u can check for KQ of diamond or heart it will be even better, and 7 is possible. I prefer 6sp to 6nt at imps because it has some better chances (like if partner has 5 clubs but they spit 4-1 beteen the opponents ) but in mp ill go for NT. What you would really want to know but cant atleast using your system, is about 5 clubs in partners hand which will make an easy grand slam if he also got 3 aces.
  2. Its funny how some people here feels like someone moved their cheeze and get nervourse. This is just a tehoretical subject trying to find if a better scoring table would make bridge a better (more creative intersting,smart...) game.
  3. Im not sure at all that you can throw them , you will just get some bad results when your gabling didnt work, it will be more intresting, they will try to catch you, today catching at the 2 level is just too risky (playing imp).
  4. What would happend if instead of -100 -300 -500 you would get -200 -400 -500. In other worlds incrising the penalty for small number of down tricks. (the numbers were just an example) Will this make the game more creative or less creative ? Will it make put more luck into bridge or more logic ? This as i see it will increse the potential gain from lower level doubles. As it is today, doubling 2M or 3m at imp is a real problem, due to the low panishment for small number of trick down, and also due to the great bonus if it makes.
  5. Not after 1NT rebid, the natural way would be to play 2c2d/2h/2s as weak and NF. ofcourse i wouldnt advice that.
  6. I'd pass, but if i look for slam it will be 6c and not 6sp, so my second choice is 6c.
  7. I agree with "putting her cards before the horses" this is true, its my subjective view that bridge would be more intresting and creative if the bidding will be more creative and less obstractive. ofcourse any change should be eximine very very carfully.
  8. Exactly, and today there is no risk in entering the aution at the 1 level, this is why we need a change.
  9. I had this thought too. it might be a good idea to raise the penatly alittle bit. One problem is that low level doubles are very rare, many players even stoped playing redouble 1x (D) R , as a way to punish, because its just too rare. Its almost thory proven (law of total tricks) that you shouldnt sell out at the 2 level and ofcourse not at the 1 level, this mean we gave up the chance to play in those level, and u can interfere too easy on them. There is a logic to think that if our side is very strong, say 25+ hcp, and someone get into our aution he will get punished for this, but its rarly will be worth to punish at the 1/2 level, so basiclly we tell them enter pls.
  10. This system have one major problem over mine, you cant pass the 2M opening, i wouldnt play it. anyway noone answer which one is better 2h/2s with both majors.
  11. I was playing Tartan where 2H=heart +minor 2S=spade+another suit 2NT=minor This mean with both major we open 2sp Reading some CCs of world class players i saw they open 2h with the majors (all the rest is the same. I wonder which way do you think is better. I think 2h with the majors is better because it has the same value of premption (they dont have spades so 2h prempt them just as 2sp would have) and 2h give us the apportunity to play at the 2 level in heart.sp-2nt.
  12. WD, i think i would go down playing on 3-2 heart (playing AK of heart)
  13. Isnt 1h with spades also forbiden ? i thought Richard said so.
  14. i edit this because , i just had a chance to read the post before me, and it make sense to play like that. this was my original: Im not sure 3h in sayc is forcing, the way i play it, is inv, and to get a GF must go with checkback. to your questions 1. 4sp is a sign up, i dont think opener can ever bid more since his hand is limit, responder his the captain. upper limit is the hand which u think slam is not good enough to look for, anyway opener doesnt have a say here. 2. I dont see why the 5 level isnt safe, ofcourse its not 100% safe, but partner opened and u can more then hope he got something, 5 level is 90% safe and that enough. also how can responder see the 5 level is safe ? aces are not everything. he might be going down in 3sp/4sp with the info he has. The blaim is 0% for the opener, the rest (make it whatever u like) is responder's. 3. if 3h is GF maybe u dont need a checkback for this hand. if u do use checkback how about using this 3h for 5/5 instead, and use the checkback for those 5/4 or less GF.
  15. Ok, ready to listen here :) Let me tell you something from my long bridge expirence, bridge is a simple game, one of the simplest there is, the winner is usually the one who make less mistakes.
  16. After trump lead wo by the J and cashing trump ace at second round, if trumps are 3-2 , no trump can be led after ruffing a spade. If trumps are 4-1, then another story :) He didnt say that spade is going to be ruffed, but when u play diamond the player who takes it will play a trump. I must say i see here many lines that i suspect you will never try at the table. Lines that assume bad things (because its the forum) like K of heart offside and K of club offside (even when he told us at the question, its still wrong to assume that) I think the best line is spade to the A and J of club, this line might work if hearts are 4-1, when K of club is onside. (not sure about this, maybe just play simple to the Q of heart like 99% of us would do at the table)
  17. There are things between the lines for 4-3 and the line for getting into dummy for clubs, one option that could be best, is to play the J of spade and only if not taken (which is rare because its hard for the opponents even when they got the right hand to do that.
  18. I dont have time to explain the all thinking process you should do with this hand, but i think your line of ruffing a spade developing ur last spade is much better then the other line suggested of ruffing a club and a diamond in your hand, the other line might go down on 4-2 spade break.
  19. look at your last diagram, why are you going down instead of making ? answer: because you had no entry to your hand to take your 2 high spades, so why not fix it by saving the 10 of heart instead of the K of heart ?
  20. Even if i had an alternative, i like this 1nt at this vul especially at mp, i can go down 2 and get an excelent score.
