Id pass some days and bid 2c on other days. I dont know about that 4H bid, at first it seemed totally wrong, why force to play 4H when you have a good alternative to suggest,3NT. There is one resson to make 4H good which is that over 2S and partner's 3H the hand will play from the wrong side of the table.

Keeping score while playing matchpoints
Flame replied to han's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Here you tell such thing. I once played a very good evening, we both knew it, and right before the last round my partner said: "if we just play normal we'll win this". Ofcourse, that last round gave us 3 nice bottoms and we ended up 2nd :P with 64% :( Boohoo!!! Exactly Your best bridge is the normal bridge that isnt influent by previous results, your story remind me of basketball games when my team is doing very well and then far too early they decide to keep the score and play slow which usually help the other team make a comback. Im not saying that thoretically knowing the score isnt right, it is right tehoretically but practically atleast for me the effect will not be possitive on the long run, because it bridges too much psichology into the game. -

I dont keep score, i try to focus on the play and anything else might distract me or take my energy. Also knowing the score might work against you , making you more nervous, you might think you must get 4% now and get a 0 because of it while in reality you only needed an avarage. -
In the version i have these are the maxs: 3H max, FG; 3H, no 5OM 4H max, 4H 3S max, FG; 4Ss, 2Hs 3NT max, 3-S2H 3D max 5S2H33

In my document (not given by Ron, but derived from Ron's document), 1N-2♣-2♦-2♥-3♦ shows a maximum with two hearts and four or five spades. I think one of our documents is outdated. Yes i guess you are right, in mine it say max 5S2H33, maybe ron can tell us something about this.

Minimum 1NT with 5cM. Thanks iv heard it before and it make sense but it doesnt look right with the full system, first after 1NT-2C-2M there is no way to invite game(2NT and 3M are not nat invite). Second after 1NT-2C-2D-2M, there is no bid with MAX 3S and 5H. Both this problems are solved if the 2M suppose to show max hand. Since opener has shown a minimum with his 2M rebid, there is no need for responder to have an invitational call available. 1N-2♣-2♦-2♥-3♠ shows max with 5 spades and 3 hearts. 1N-2♣-2♦-2♠-3♥ shows man with 5 hearts and 3 spades. That is, after 1N-2♣-2♦-2M, 3oM shows 5oM and 3M. Tim Thanks good points, but in my document (given by ron) 1NT-2C-2D-2H-3S show 4S-2H and max , not 5S-3H

I have a simple quesion about the extended keri . 1NT-2C-2M does it show max 1nt with 5 card suit ?
-
This sounds strange to me getting so high when the bidding suggest we have a max of 8 card fit. I think playing something like 1s-1nt-3h to show 6H and 5S makes more sense, but i wouldnt add this to my system since i think its doesnt worth it.

I like udca more then std, its easier for me. It more flexiable, both when playing attitude when i dont have to think if i can throw my 9/8/7 which could be important later, and also when giving count, no need to throw a high card with a doublton which could be needed for taking tricks.

Just try to think about each of them individually and not mix them. Leads : when you are going to lead a small card lead your 5 if you have 5 or more cards when you have 3 or 4 cards you lead the 3rd (oviously you cant lead the 5th) This is only about small card leads, with K109x you will lead the 10 unless you agreed otherwise. Signaling: Dont mix between two kinds of signaling, when you follow a suit you play udca, when you dont have that suit, you discards and you do this odd/even way, meaning if you discard an odd card it mean you want the suit, if you discard an even card it mean you dont want the suit if that even card was low you want a lower suit (and not the one you discard from) if it was high even you want the higher suit. So the 2H over a spade mean you dont want heart, you want a low suit(this will usually mean clubs)

If you play it strong , you need to have a narroow range or else you will miss games which hurts especially when you are vulnarable.

I dont have the expirence to give advice about this 2nt. About the structure i dont even remember it, you can find what we play on WJ2000 file.
-
Maybe i'll try it next time and run to the bathroom.

1. I would pass, i lead a club 2. 2sp although i would be happier with a 10 of the red suits..

3H should vote as 3D since it is ment as a Game trail, although i wouldnt try it since im afraid partner might think it show heart suit which was too good for imidiate 2H.(but again for this poll choose 3D if you mean to make another game trail)

apology accepted thanks.

Im glad i asked, i opened 1D i thought this is too good for 2NT, because i have great honors and intermidiates.

Holding: [hv=s=sk8xxh1098xdkxcaxx]133|100|[/hv] The bidding goes like this LHO Partner RHO You 1♦ 1♠ P 2D* D 3C P ? 2D showed fit (3+ cards) and 10+ hcp , we dont have other bids to show different kind of suppoprt. Double by LHO was natural. 3C by partner is probebly long suit trail bid. edited ------- If you want to invite with 3H choose 3D.

you are the Dealer No one vul you hold: [hv=s=sxhaxdqj109xck109xx]133|100|[/hv] We play 2nt for under opening strengh with minors. What do you open ?

I wish you checked before you decide about the point im in my career because even though i dont think you ment to, it was insulting.
-
I count only what i need for my plan, sometimes i found out that i had to count something which i didnt and that hurt, but my mind is set on minimizing the work on every task i do. When im dummy i dont look at the play unless im teaching someone.

So you can lead a diamond now... only way to four tricks. If your partner wins, he will eventually be endplayed after spades are elminated and a diamond hook goes to his king or queen. You can't afford to switch to diamond at trick two, or the ACE wins, and a heart is discarded on a top spade. Ben You mean after a diamond to the 8. Well this is nice and true but i still dont know if its right to play the K.
-
Didnt understand why partner has to drop the K.

Ken you insist to make a connection between conventions and skill , im soory but the only connection i can think of is that only somone with low skills will think that there is such a connection. If someone asks me this quesition i would explain that its not about conventions, this is the only way i could answer this friend , any other answer would just be a lie. You know atlethics have athletics uniforms, but the uniform isnt the thing that make them athletic, anyone can ware those uniforms, your question is like asking me if this uniform your wareing make your skill novice or beginer, i cant answer till i'll see you run.
