I went to this table an saw: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sk82hkq8dat5ct754&w=sth765dkqj9862cqj&e=sj754h93d743cak92&s=saq963hajt42dc863]399|300|Scoring: MP WEST NORTH EAST SOUTH 3♦..... pass... pass.. 4♦ pass.. 5♦...... pass.. 5♥ pass.. 6♥...... X....... pass pass.. pass [/hv] Declarer played spade 8 from dummy. E and W were waiting very long before playing next card. They were talking aal the time and not playing. (see Chat below) Chat and last 6 tricks lasted about 7minutes. Although I added 6min, last trick was not finished. Server adjusted A--. IMO: 1) N/S deserve 6♥X-1 for their bidding. They shouldn't have a benefit from E/W beeing rude. 2) E/W deserve a zero for their rudeness. But I can't do this with the actual software. 3) therefore I didn't change the A-- from server . 2. Hi Frosty there was no kind of problem at all, that caused me to worry. I'm just a rookie . I like the site TD-Coalition. It was very very helpfull for me. I thought this site would be enough platform for cooperation among TD. My fear was more abstract. One great thing has more power than many small. But you have much more experience than I. Thanks a lot for the informations Al :)
  3. Hi Andreas, you are right in real life ftf-bridge. At least as the Rules of German DBV say. But online poeople were encouraged to claim to fasten the play and most players agree with this, because it is boring waiting so long. The issue was discussed a few weeks ago in TD-forum: finessing after claim once more an yet before: Finessing after a claim I think all arguments are said. It is also stated that there are very different meanings and you can't get to a solution, which is pleasable for all. Al
  4. Hi all I'm a bit disturbed about various activities: There is TD-Coalition, where I thought all BBO-TD join and help together raising the bridge-standard in BBO. Now I'have seen some new creations: 1) BBO-friends 2) BBO-Land 3) IBD As I understood the aim of all these groups of TD is to improve ethics, behavior and standard of players and TD's. My question now is: Are these groups eking each other and cooperate or do they compete. I think all TD should have the same objective. So why not pool all activities. Sincerly Al
  5. What does ABUSE have to do with anything? This is YOUR tournament. You are the Director, with the rights and responsibilities to adjust scores. You adjusted this score to A+/A-, in effect rewarding E/W for reprehensible behavior. If it were me, I'd hit E/W with a zero, along with a pretty good talking to regarding ethical responsibilities. Sorry my english is not good enough. I had an misunderstanding and thought "procedural penalty" meant I should report to ABUSE. I'm searching for the right line to direct tourneys online. I'm thankful for every hint. Btw: does software allow to hit a ZERO? Al
  6. Sitting South what do u bid after this sequence: [hv=d=s&v=e&s=skt83ht5d9864caqj]133|100|Scoring: MP EAST SOUTH WEST NORTH ........ pass... pass.. 2♥ pass... ? [/hv] If you are interested why I posted this poll look at Adjustment questions VII after you voted. Thanks Al
  7. Thanks for given me another reason for my wrong decisison. ;) Al
  8. I a player with his regular partner makes a lot psychic-bids in every tourney, there is the necessity to be suspicious. Therefore I have a watchlist of very strange bids. They played for the first time (as SOUTH said) and he said also his pd was an novice. Imo there is no hand opening weak 2♥ thinkable that justifies another bid from NORTH than pass. I'll make a poll to this question in another forum. Question to ABUSE: Do you want me to report deails from privat-chat to you? Al
  9. Hi Ben, I'm very interested to direct tourneys for players who like to play very fast. In ideal case 12-15 minutes for a round of 3 boards. So far I'm directing ** Very Quick and Nice" with 18 minutes per 3 boards. To achieve my aim I would like to create a private club of players, who like that very fast game. I found nowhere a hint, how do create a club. I think you Ben or Uday can help me. Many thanks. Al
  10. ;) I love bridge. B) I love BBO. I love to direct tourneys in BBO. Al
  11. Directing today I decided to adjust the following: [hv=d=n&v=e&n=skt83ht5d9864caqj&w=sa76ha9datct98543&e=s2hk76dq7532ck762&s=sqj954hqj8432dkjc]399|300|Scoring: IMP WEST NORTH EAST SOUTH ........ pass.... pass.. 2♥ pass.. 2♠...... pass.. pass 3♣.... X......... pass.. 3♠ [/hv] EAST whispered to me after round changed to look the bidding of the board above. First look: East opening is strange but such thinks happen in third seat white against red. After EAST insisted I noticed the more stranger bid of 2♠ from NORTH. I was convinced such a stupid bid must be from an absolut novice or they are cheating. I asked NORTH and SOUTH to discuss the bidding with me after the tourney. NORTH didn't answer to anyone of my questions. He was direct after the tourney playing in the main. South told me, he was playing with NORTH for the first time. He had no problems if I subtract points for the board. I decided A-+. I took the easy way out :P : South had no complaints; NORTH didn't answer and E/W were content. Now I'm not happy  with my decision. Afterwards I looked up the results of all hands played by N/S in this tourney. They were: 75%, 78% 36% 75% 75% 36% 32% 50% 68% 0% 18% 7% 10% Now I'm convinced: The 2♥ from South was a allowed psychic; the 2!S from NORTH was a very stupid but lucky bid getting them 68%. Therefore decision was wrong. There was no infraction and no damage to E/W. Therefore imo now: no adjust. I set NORTH an my watchlist for strange bidding. ;) I set SOUTH on my watchlist for psyching. B) What are your opinions about this? Al = xx1943 To see the issue in detail I attached the whole chat: All chat from W S E and N was private: EAST: pls check bidding on brd 9 didn't understand it EAST: did you check ? ->EAST: what is ur complaint? EAST: look at bidding pls EAST: opened a weak 2 !h ->EAST: yesterday opened someone 2♥ against me holding a !♦ ninecarder EAST: how can the guy bid ♠ on a 4 card suit EAST: its your game ->EAST: I'll relook that board EAST: tks ->NORTH: TD here there is a complaint about ur bidding on #9. U bid 2♠ on a 4carder. That is very strange after pd's weak 2♥ ->EAST: bidding is really strange EAST: yes i know EAST: 3 c should be penalty EAST: the x xx1943: TD here SOUTH and NORTH I must talk with u about bidding in #9 after this round!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EAST: we should be in 3 ♣ whacked SOUTH: ok EAST: making SOUTH: I bid 2h (weak) partner bid 2 spades I passed lho bid 3 clubs my partner doubled I bid 3 spades(partner's suit) ->SOUTH: but ur pd had no reason not to pass 2!H SOUTH (Lobby): first time I have played with him we had a few misunderstandings SOUTH (Lobby): but maybe ask him why he bid 2 spades am really not sure ->SOUTH: bidding seems very strange SOUTH (Lobby): I figured that he had 6 spades SOUTH (Lobby): but I really don't know don't think he was trying to cheat Actually I think he may be a novice ->SOUTH: He didn't answer to me SOUTH (Lobby): anyway thanks for nice tourney I love a fast-paced game SOUTH (Lobby): I f you want to take away points, is ok with me. I just play for fun ->NORTH: Why did u bid 2♠ in board #9 after ur pds weak 2!H? SOUTH (Lobby): also I think he had a problem with English ->SOUTH: I adjust to A+- SOUTH (Lobby): ok SOUTH (Lobby): good night see you soon WEST (Lobby): thank you.... they obviously cheating ->WEST: be carefull with accusations pls; they were playing together first time; maybe it was only a goof WEST (Lobby): i understand.... i would never say anything to their face WEST (Lobby): how did you find that? were you watching us at the table? ->WEST: ur pd called me WEST (Lobby): yes he tht the same ->WEST: SOUTH accepted A-+; NORTH didn'T answer WEST (Lobby): i know all about accusations...... very good to keep low profile WEST (Lobby): i agree that it could have been error... but the coincidence of her bad opening bid and his 2S is overwhelming
  12. Thanks for this hint. three more questions: (1) Does the leaderboard shows the changes? (2) Will be the results in bridgebase.com/myhands also changed? (3) How long after I can make adjusts? Al
  13. Hi all I was directing a tournament when player xx whispered to me privat: xx: I think you may watch the pair yy-zz me: why? xx: just watch them I asked xx to explain his complaints but got no more answer. I looked up the last round xx playing against yy-zz, nothing remarkable happened. May i suggest xx was accusing yy-zz? I would like to hear your opinions. Sincerly Al
  14. Directing a Pairs-MP-tournament I came to a table by chance. I saw declarer claiming 12 tricks in his 6♦ slam. He had not lost a trick and he couldn't loose any trick. Trumps are drawn only high cards in declarers hand and dummy. The claim was accepted and 6♦= appeared in the movie. None of the 4 players registered the mistake. None of them called me. I decided not to adjust for these reasons: (1) The adjust would be unfair to tables, where the same happened, but I didn't see it. (2) Imo a wrong claim is identical with a misclick or a miscount ..... I'm wondering if my decision had been the same, if one Player (or perhaps all four players) had asked me to do so. What's your opinion to this? Al
  15. Hi jillybean Many, many thanks to Ben, many thanks to you for this hint. We all can only hope Ben will do this great job for a long time yet. Al
  16. :P Isn't it very funny! ;) This thread sleeped well from March 2003 (last post by inquiry) till in June 2004 Luke reanimated it. (many thx btw). And now between 2 days there are 5 or 6 new replies. Apparently many members are still interested in this spot. I think there must be a lot of goodies in post from 2003, that should be rediscovered. I'm wondering if there is a possibility to create some aid (e.g. index or FAQ) to delelevop these source. Al
  17. Hi Do u have an idea, when this great site will start? I'm looking forward. Al
  18. Hi Ben why do you not start a FAQ. I think would'nt have to answer the same questions about this forum ever and ever. Many thanks for your help to all newbies. Al
  19. 1) about 100 2) a) Kelsey: Killing defence at bridge (+ all other books from Kelsey) ....:) Marty Bergen: Better bidding with Bergen (+ all others from Bergen) ....c) Larry Cohen: Following the Law ....d) Victor Mollo: Bridge in the menagerie (+ all others from V. Mollo) 3) Terence Reese; Roger Trezel: Master Bridge Serie 4) For playing: Kelsey; Reese; Mollo ....For bidding: Marty Bergen 5) I've read no good bridge book from a german writer 6) If I would do 50% of the goodies in the above books, I would be very happy. AL = xx1943
  20. Thank you for this excellent idea. Many of the tools you are offering are on my TD-wish-list a long time. I'm trying to create a new format especially for very fast players. I had a lot of good experiences with **Very Quick and Nice** The features you are offering would be great. Many thanks Al
  21. Hi Karl; you hit the target again. More information about the tourney are strongly recommended. I would be sufficient to display in the tournament lobby which board every table is playing at the moment. This notice would be also a great help for TD to see which tables are playing too slow. It is always a great pleasure to read your posts. I agree 100% with you most of the time. Al
  22. How many tournaments did you observe to come to this conclusion? The statistic should be include 50 items at least to be significant (better 200). :P My experience in the last 5 tourneys (4x3 boards) I directed (kib ever allowed) was that the winner needed 66,3%, 68,3%, 71,0%, 65,4%, 66,2%. By the way is there a simple method to get the tour-results to a file in my PC. Copy screen to clipboard and paste to Word is very boring. :P Al
  23. Hi Karl, I like your policy and would be happy if I could follow this thread. But frequently it is not possible to determine, who is responsible for the delay. Frequently you have no time to do so before the tourney is finished. What we need to follow up this strategy are two changes in the software: 1) It must be possible for TD to see the chat-history of the table. 2) There must be a notification of the consumed time of every player (like a chess-clock). Very helpfull could be 1) A notification which boards are not finished. Best in a to-do-list. 2) Easier handling of adjustment (e.g. a little button an the movie named ADJUST, with the possibility to adj by only typing the new result and not names etc.) It costs now a lot of time to write all on a sheat of paper or change perpetually between 2 windows. I would like to co-direct one of your tourneys to see how your policy performs. My BBO-name is also xx1943. I'm in BBO mostly 6:00 - 9:00 am CET that is 0:00 - 3:00 EDT (NY). I'm looking forward to here from you. Al
  24. PAIRS MP 4 rounds 3 boards/per round 6min/per board All this was announced and explained to all players before tourney starts. I was called to this table in time by N/S because W had very bad connection. I was called by N/S after the round to adjust the following board. [hv=d=s&v=e&n=sa972hjt54dkqjtc3&w=s86h9876da9854cq9&e=skqjt3hkd2cakjt72&s=s54haq32d763c8654]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] W.....N.....E.....S -......-......-......p p.....1♦...2♣...2♥ p....3♥...4♠....p p.....p South leads A of ♥ and then was timeout. Adjust is not so simple as it seems at first blush: 4♠ -1 after this excellent lead by South is sure. But if E plays on Clubs instead of drawing Spades he'll be -2. This is not reasonable but always possible. The issue would be even more complicated, if the timeout were before S could lead. Against ♦ lead 4 Spades is made +1. The cause for being slow were clearly E/W. How to do justice to N/S? I'm looking forward to hear your opinions Al
