[hv=d=e&v=e&s=sj93hq93dt2ckq963]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] I was called to this table. After EAST opened 1♦ WEST responded with this hand 2!C. Opponents complained that there was no alert. Responder said he had learned in BBO-Sayc his 2♣ bid to be normal. There was no damage at all, nothing to adjust. QUESTION for my interest only: Is this a "normal" SAYC-bid or has it to be alerted? Looking forward your opinions. Al

Hi Karl many thanks for this hint Al

Sure. I'm looking forward to teach everyboy. But I'm a rookie-TD; learning myself. Please look the following links first: Click here to get informations about directing in BBO Click here to learn, how to manage tournaments There are names of very experienced TDs posted, who are ready to mentor TD-rookies. My mentors were GWENY and SHOWLE (Fun&Fishy) But if u like you can also try to Co-direct with me. regards Al

Hi I miss much more the button to tell the installer which language I want to use. Bridge-language is for me English and English and English. :( In the German version I saw words, which in Germany no player will understand. It's like translating "Nase" in "Gesichtserker", because "Nase" is a word not of German origin. :P It's like playing golf with an tennis-racket just because golf-court is hosted by an tennis club. :P The different languages will cause problem over problems. I often told newcomers how to navigate in BBO, which buttons to click and so on. If everbody has another screen you cannot help them navigating without speaking their language. :( The language-project is very important for the content pages (not translated as it seems to me) but for the navigation there has to be a button in view where I could choose my preferred language. Cheers Al I feel like kidnapped by this software.

Hi all I created a new tournament called ** Very Quick and Nice **. The tournament is scheduled every moring 6:15 CET (=0:15am EDT(NY)) 12 boards; 4 rounds; 6 minutes per board; survivor 0% This tourney is an experiment. I want to give players, who like a fast game, the opportunity to play without every round waiting a lot of time. Therefore the tourney is now clocked 18 minutes for 3 boards. I'll give not more time, but will try to adjust accordingly, if a board isn't finished. I directed alone most of the time, sometimes got help from Marc, Jan or Stephen (many thanks). In this format I can't manage more than 15 tables. People asked me urgently to increase my limit of 30 pairs. Are there TD interested to join our team and direct regularly ** Very Quick and Nice ** ? I would be happy to discuss with all interesed TDs the strategy how to adjust and how to apply the rules I'm looking forward to your replies. Al

Who rules when the TD is involved?
xx1943 replied to cphastrup's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
Hi Mike 100% agree with you and going a step further. Software should not permit playing TD aside from subbing in last round when no subs on the list are available or just a few cards of the last board have to be played. It's terrible to see playing TD. Al -
Bannato da BBO (Banned from BBO)
xx1943 replied to principe45's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Hi This one phrase is enough to ban you from BBO. It is not tolerable to accuse any people publicly. In this forum all complaints have to be anonym. to complain with names you have to report to ABUSE: abuse@bridgebase.com Al name deleted by moderator -
Hi I'm faszinated. Your Idea is great. To my information: What is Orkut and what is Friendster? Can I get the URLs from you? Many thanks. Al

Hi Karl as most times you hit the target. You expressed exactly my opinions, which I couldn't do so, because of my bad English. :D cheers Al I like all your posts

Hi this is one feature in the great projekt Mike (Malucy=Yzerman in this Forum) is planning: Description Internet-adress I wish you much success Mike Al

If this bid is systemic you have to alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Al
-
100% agree 100% agree 100% agree Disagree: If there is a partnership agreement, East had to alert. He doesn't and should therefore by punished. Therefore adjust: A+-. disagree: (1) If a misclick result in bad boards, why should it not result in a lucky one? (2) Why punish EW for beeing honest and calling TD. If 3♠ isn't illegal why should it become illegal in case of an misclick? (3) Decision in this case: PLay the board and don't adjust 100% agreeAl

Hallo Ingrid, your decision not to adjust was 100% ok. I admire your patience with this rude guy. I had him booted much earlier and reported to abuse. :D regards Al
-
Hi Andreas, In contrary to you, I like to have more information not less!! ;) When directing a tournament my wish is to have all things that happen (Subs; Adjust; TD-Calls ...... ) logged by automatic messages. If there is an filter-button ok. IMO it is not necessary because you can manage the chat with WORD, if you like to. Al

Hi There is enough space to attach a complete list of all ACBLxx-Ids in the lin-file "Tournament-Rules". Al

Hi this is exact the procedure I missed, when I had to decide this one. Adjustement question VIII Thanks for this idea, Mc Bruce. Sincerly Al

Hi all; here another problem from a tour I newly directed: [hv=d=n&v=e&n=sq3haq85d87ck8765&w=sjt984hk9dt632ct3&e=sa762hj432dq54c42&s=sk5ht76dakj9caqj9]399|300|Scoring: MP West North East South ...-... pass. pass 1♦ pass. 2♣... pass 3NT pass. pass. pass West leads J of spades and declarer takes the first 8 tricks: 1♠ 5♣ and A, K of ♦ then he leads 6 of ♥, West contributes the 9 and time run out. [/hv] This was the 5 card ending; Heart 6 and 9 played to zhe 9. trick. [hv=d=n&v=e&n=sq3haq85d87ck8765&w=sjt984hk9dt632ct3&e=sa762hj432dq54c42&s=sk5ht76dakj9caqj9]399|300|Scoring: MP West North East South ...-... pass. pass 1♦ pass. 2♣... pass 3NT pass. pass. pass West leads J of spades and declarer takes the first 8 tricks: 1♠ 5♣ and A, K of ♦ then he leads 6 of ♥, West contributes the 9 and time run out. [/hv] It was a machtpoints tournament with 6 min per board. I was never called to the table. I had to assume, that all players were responsible for the delay. I found server scored A--: I didn't adjust so A-- was scored. Later I looked at the traveller: The only possible results were 3NT+3 or 3NT= depending on South finessing Q of ♥ or not. On the traveller 3NT got 22% and 3NT+3 64% for NT. In this respect 40% to N/S seems fair, if you assume declarers choice of line; to impass or not to impass; beeing 50% for each. But what about EAST/WEST? If declarer finesses they would have got 36% and if he does not 78%. Therefore they deserve actually (36%+78%)/2 = 57%. IMO the fair score shoold be NS=40% and EW=60%. But this was only possible to find out after looking the traveller in MyHands. I'm looking forward to hear your opinions. Cheers Al

hi mike 100% ditto. thx Al

Hi Dwayne I didn't not even :o consider 6♥X= or 7♥XX=. I put 6♥X= in my poll knowing some people :P who would prefer this decision. What in my oininion must be the right score is: NS: 6♥X-1 (anything else is unfair to the other N/S-Pairs) :( EW: zero zero zero  But there is in this software no possibility to adjust in this way. Therefore under given circumstances the least of evils seems to me A--. I'm not happy with this, because both pairs get too much. NS deserve 10% (for bad bidding) and EW 0% (for rudness). Al
