  1. I have never played those kind of 4-level transfers and I suppose that you have another way to transfer with a strong hand (FG) and ♥ (Rubensohl...) So those kind of transfers can be done with a weak hand and long ♥. Therefore, pass should not be forcing in any case ! By the way, for those who are playing Texas, what's the difference between 1NT 4♦ 4♥ and 1NT 2♦ 2♥ 4♥
  2. 3♠ leading to our most likely game
  3. 2♣ and then 2NT showing 22-23, bal
  4. Your partner opens and you have a 4 losers hand and some want to pass ! Incredible ! This is a clear 2♣ bid and then go for ♠.
  5. I always invite with 8 and as Free says : bridge is not an exact science ! ;)
  6. BIGGEST problem with team matches (WHEN I can play anyway) is MOST folks seem to be looking for "experts" --- I consider myself SOMEWHERE between "Intermediate" and "Advanced" ( AND that is a subject of another string for software questions) SO I don't feel at ALL Qualified to join "EXPERT" team games - although I believe teams (ESPECIALLY B A M ) is THE most challenging form of duplicate ;) Create the team game yourself and ask for "intermediates" or "advanced" ! ;)
  7. Hello Nilbes ! Well I think that you wait (between rounds) much longer in tournaments than in the main bridge club ! The best is definitively team matches because players do not leave and you don't have to wait ! ;)
  8. I don't know if I would make such a bid even in that situation Ben !
  9. 7nt = ridiculous bid for a ridiculous contract with a ridiculous dbl ! so, a ridiculous hand ! B)
  10. Well, asking question is answering it I think because you play weak NT (12-14) in all 4 seats ! What else would you open ???? :)
  11. 1NT is fine ! Aces are better than other cards ! Usually 4 HCP is not enough for them !
  12. Totally agree : I like to bid with 13 cards ! B)
  13. Partner has probably an ace which is impossible to find if it's not the ace of ♠. So let's go for ♠
  14. I agree that Ron's hand smells NT but in my partnership, I only open NT when I can have rebid problem and very rarely (never say never ! ) with 5 cards major.
  15. Pass is out of the question ! 3♦ seems right !
  16. Well in another way : to jump to 6♣ partner has probably a ♠ void, good ♥ and a great ♣ suit which is Ok for 7. But why didn't he ask for aces or bid 5♠ ???
  17. Seriously, how is it possible not to give preference to ♦ with a stiff ♠ I suppose south was sleeping !
  18. 6♦ also ! It is the last bid available to tell partner that 7 is still possible but I don't want to decide myself !
  19. Yes, the more important is to teach a basic and simple system (like sayc or french standard) on which you can easily add gadgets in the future without modifying all the strutures ! <_<
  20. Not bidding ♠ here for me is a crime ! Tactic or not tactic ! <_<
  21. In general people think that hands are too wild when dealt by computer but in fact, they are too flat when dealt by hand !
  22. Pass first and I think I would bid 1NT (am I the only one ? ) on the reopening dlb because 2♥ = 3 cards (most of the time), ♦ Diamonds are weak and I have a solid ♠ stop + max HCP for pass. Ok I have single ♣, but I can live with it ! :)
