  1. How on earth could you find a way to cheat in order to bid "winning" games when you have 2 flat 9 counts ???? As Justin says : 3♥ was a preempt (not understood by his partner) and 3 finesses and 2 lucky breaks later they made game ! Alain
  2. Justin, West Xed ! It's north that bid 1♠ in the void ! Btw, I don't know if we will play 4♠ but we surely will play 4♥ when partner make the 2♥ free bid ! Alain
  3. On the French federation site, they say that the trials (quarterfinals) will be broadcasted on BBO ! Is it true, Roland ? Alain
  4. I saw that last saturday when in a team match partner put me in a 6NT contract after stayman. 1NT - 2♣ 2♦ - 6NT RHO doubled for the ♠ lead and I was quickly down 1 cause the king was in partner hand ! In the other room, They play weak NT and after a system mistake (the opps told us), NT's were bid by responder. Result 6NT= and -17 imps !! :( Alain
  5. Absolute rubbish unless you play it like Winston and justin suggest - a good treatment imo. To play the cue as non descript as suggested here is reductio ad absurdum. English is not my mother tongue but the words you are using here seems very insulting. I'm happy to see that my bid is absolute rubbish. I'm not here to reply to those kind of provocations and will simply ignore them. Fortunately there are a lot of polite people on this forum. Alain
  6. :) Your 3♥ bid there can be less than 4 cards in search of the 3NT contract !? Alain
  7. Well, I don't know about Acol but in general, partner can still have 4♥ if he's strong enough. Alain
  8. Clearcut dbl but I'd would have opened 1♦ So what do I have to vote ? :P Alain
  9. It is almost impossible to partner to evaluate both magic cards if you don't bid a 2-suiter and the first opportunity ! I think I'm with Gerben, I'd bid 2NT and 4♦ cue on 3♥ to show a monster. Now, maybe a jump to 5 by partner with both working card is OK. Alain
  10. In France and in Belgium (at least for the french speaking region), the word "Texas" is used for every transfer bid ! 4♥ and 4♠ are generally to play. 4♣ and 4♦ are used with respectively minor and major 2-suiters limited to game. (or major 2-suiter in both cases, indicating shortness) Alain
  11. Same, too much power for simple overcall Alain
  12. A and B Maybe I'm wrong but I never pass 12 even if they are ugly ! :) Alain
  13. A lot of people in Belgium (and in France I think) also play 2♦ as Michaels and 2♣ as natural. Alain
  14. Yes, ♥ suit is awful for that position and you have support for all other suits so Dbl is clearly better, imho Alain
  15. 2♠ is my bid. In those sequences, the cue bid does not show force and is ambiguous ! It is the more economical way to tell partner that we have no clear bid ( so probably no ♥ support and no ♠ stop) Alain
  16. Thank you All ! And I totally agree with Roland, Gerben and others that the score is futile and that it is far more important to participate and exchange our different views ! This poll is really instructive, pleasant and friendly :) Alain
  17. No, my vote goes to 4S, we are playing IMP's, we are red. There is certainly no way, that we will find out, if 4S has play or not, ... on a long auction it gets more likely that they will find the winning defence. Marlowe Same for me ! Alain
  18. Dbl too, 4♦ over 4♣ and pass over 5♣ :) Alain
  19. Never heard of this hexagonal squeeze, tx Ben ! :P
