  1. I would really like to see theses stars mantain their ratings, because I have seen some play as if they just learned the game. I think it would be to funny to see a star with a beginner rating, because some do deserve it... Mike  You think there are people who take up the name of a top bridge player claiming to be them? That I am not sure of, just that being a star from certain countries doesn't take a whole lot. In the land of blind people, one-eye is King. If you only have 500 players in your country, and 100 of them play in competition, it's a lot easier to win few national titles. You don't even have to play good bridge. But I have already long discussions about this  Mike ;)
  2. He is a good writer. And he has had lots of experience writing on BBF  Mike
  3. Already got it up to 7 tricks, sigh, but I need 8. Don't they know if I wanna pull trump i'll do it myself  Mike
  4. I hope so, would make life easier. Since my fingers are to fat to type all that stuff out, been eating way too many hamburgers  Mike
  5. I bid 3 NT, I have really no good bid. So I might as well try for game since looks like I have 8 tricks. X, is not a great bid, but again you are kinda stuck. Mike
  6. Zarpoints are just a different way of evaluating your hand. That's all Folks  Mike
  7. I have found out that Zarpoints are great in suitcontracts. But I prefer standard evaluation for balanced NT hands. I have enough tools in my system to find out where I belong, and if fit is found I refer back to ZARpoints. Just my opinion. Mike
  8. I'd open 4♦, so I won't have this problem. But in this case, if 3♥ is weak raise I just bid 4♦ and if it is limitraise I bid 5♦. Mike
  9. May i say that, after innumerable sessions with my psychiatrist, i have turned over a new leaf and am taking my posts in this Venerable Forum seriously, as Mike pointed out. Hence, i shall give this question the seriousness it deserves. Alex Forget the bridgebooks, what about the 3 female bridgeplayers you want to take to desert Island. I f I was stuck on desert island last thing on my mind would be bridgebooks  Mike ;) And I am sooo happy Slothy saw my psychiatrist. I heard the 7 sessions a day are finally starting to pay off.
  10. Both sides overbid a little, the 3♠ I can have sympaty for, since I firmly believe in rasing wih fit. And souths 4♠ is not that bad either, but like I said both sides stretched a little. Mike
  11. I like Lawrence's way, 2NT after 2/1 is 12-14 OR 18-19, balanced. Can't be passed, because it is already GF, and you rebid 4NT over 3NT, quantitative, to show 18-19, which should be safe when partner has enough to force to game in the first place. I think in SAYC a 2/1 is not GF, which is what makes the 2NT rebid so odious. That's why most good players left SAYC alone a long time ago  Mike
  12. i think you have flannery on the mind :( ... it was actually only mentioned once (tho it's possible some more will say something, now that i've drawn attention to it heheh)... i do wonder why you call it a 'close second' tho... here's the list i found from all the posts, copied word for word (tho without some of the comments): good ole flannery only got one vote (wtg ron!! heheh) And mine of course I think I do, but then again most European and other countries, but the USA, have even heard of Flannery or Capeletti  . And few others. Mike ;)
  13. Most will bid forcing NT followed by 2♥, that is in perfect world. Maybe next time you get to bid again is at 3 level or higher. Support with support, and that's what I have. Mike :D
  14. I only play 1♦- 2♣ as 10+ all other are GF. Mike :D
  15. My head hurts, will get back. Mike :D
  16. I think 1 hour is too little, I would think 2 hour session better. But I wouldn't play in tourney anyway, since if I would win, Fred would have hard time playing with Brad again hehehehe. But I think this would be a great idea for the B/IL, winning a chance to play with a great bridgeplayer, and better yet, a great bridgeteacher. Mike
  17. I see many people disliking Gerber( I agree ) and Blackwood with close second Flannery( I agree ). And even though SAYC is not a convention, I agree that it should have been left alone. Now it is even more confusing. But keep em coming. Mike
  18. 2♥ shows weak hand with long ♥. Something like hand 1, could even be weaker then that. Mike
  19. 1m-3NT as 15-17 opener needs to have a good hand aka 16+ and preferable a 5 card or better suit. That's a reason most "experts" with a good hand don't like to bid 3 NT as it is known as a slamkiller. They will lie a little and come up with a 1♦ bid, or maybe bid a 3 card major, especially when they have a good 17 count. Go slow and you have much more room to investigate. But if it goes like I said before I guess you can use Gerber, or Quantative. Not liking it, but you have to do something, maybe this is why there is not much material out there about this, since most topplayers will go slow. Mike
  20. I am 99.9% for sure their good results have nothing to do with them playing Flannery. They are just good players. Mike :D
  21. I agree that playing in an ACBL tournament for ACBL points are worth nothing for non ACBL members. And even playing for WBF points is really not doing anything. Maybe play for a bottle of wine or something. Mike :D
  22. People that play on sites with ratings are very protective of their ratings. And therefor they are a lot meaner, unless you have a set game. Where you know who everybody is. But what is this obsession with ratings ? Don't you play in real life? If you win often at high levels, you are a good player. I f you lose most of the time you have stuff to learn. What's the point ? You need someone else telling you who or what you are ? Plsss Mike :D
