  1. Experience, and playing with and against better players. Also watching vu-graph, TopFlight and certain starplayers will help a lot. And practice..... Mike :)
  2. North can bid whatever he wants, as long as South thinks he has 4+♥ there is no problem. East didn't like result, and hope to get adjusted score, as it is even on ♥ lead there are 12 tricks. East was very rude and should be reported. As we have discussed many times in other threads, you cannot alert a psyche. Maybe E/W should read a little on bridgerules instead of trying to say incorrect stuff. Mike :)
  3. It depends if you play 4th Forcing. When you think ahead in auction, you can see problem arise when you bid 1♠ and yr pd bids 2♣. In the case I play 4suit Forcing I would have bid 1 NT. If I don't I bid 1♠ and after pd's 2♣, I bid 2♦. There really isn't a perfect bid, that just happens sometimes. What Luis said could work sometimes, but you are telling pd's 2 lies now, you denied 4♠ and promised at least 2♥. Mike :)
  4. You happen to have a link to this ? Mike ;)
  5. If that's the case, you should have supported ♦ to begin with, either with inverted minors or some other way. You are already at 3 NT without r pd knowing you have a big ♦ fit. And if you want to be in game 5♦ much more likey then 3 NT. And some people might consider 3♠ a psyche, especially if not alerted. Mike ;)
  6. 2sp ment to show some power in spade to help partner bid 3nt if he got something in club. How should i'v bid it ? 3D doesnt sound like forcing to me. Forcing with an 11 count ? I think if you bid 3♦, it should show about 10-11 HCP with ♦ fit, isn't that what you have ? Mike ;)
  7. I totally agree, next thing we know, they are going to host tournaments where you can't use conventions either. I would X, trying to unmask the psych. If my pd doesn't have ♠, he must have a strong NT hand, or a strong hand in a minor.
  8. Where can I find the Monte Carlo simulation, Richard ? Mike ;)
  9. I think 33 rounds is long enough, nearly 2 weeks of bridge. Mike ;)
  10. I agree, why you want to bid on all hands in Imps? Wanna try for a bigger number to lose ? Or is this part of the "Bid at all Cost" strategy ? Mike ;)
  11. I am insane, but in this case I misread the thread. I tetract everything I said earlier and say now that is a splinter, in support of ♣ Mike ;)
  12. I agree with Ron. Psyching part of the game, like it or not, just deal with it. Mike :D
  13. 3 NT sounds to me pd has very few aces and mostly secondary stoppers in suits. If I wanted to go for slam, pd needs to have something like Ax Ax Qxxxxx Axx. Possible, but I like my current pd and don't wanna lose him looking for insane slams. Even game might not make :D Mike :D
  14. ♣ to the 8. Win 2nd ♦ and finesse ♣ again, 89 % for 2 tricks. I am already ahead of the game with the ♦ lead, and hopefully opps will start attacking a major. I already have 7 tricks, and 8 very likely, and with ♦ breaking 4-4 possibly 9. Mike :D
  15. I am passing unless it is last hand and I need the imps to win. Pd has minimum hand with 2♦ and then later he has a max for his minimum hand, about 14 HCP. He needs all the perfect cards and distribution, my pd's never have them. Mike :D
  16. I used to play Modified Flannery after 1♣ opening. No laughing please, you know who you are hehehe. So on hand B I could have bid 2♦ showing 5♠ and 4♥ with 3-5 HCP. And 2♥ would have shown 5♥ and 4♠ with 3-5 HCP. Mike :D
  17. Don't have one. Mike :D , Devil in training
  18. There are no stupid questions. Just ignorant people. Mike ;)
  19. Very true, I for one think that the defending Champion, should automatically be invited for the next championship. I know a few countries where the strongest players don't compete anymore because of different reasons. But mostly it has to do with disagreements with the National Bridge Union, and that again has to do mostly with money. Moneywise winning a Bermudabowl or EC, or something similair, doesn't pay. Unless your sponsor, playing or not, or Country pays you for winning or placing high. It's no wonder most kids are more interested in multimillion $ contracts for profootball, baseball, basketball, soccer etc. You probably even make more money in synchronized swimming. It's sad but true. Bridge has become for a game for the old and retired with not much else to do. Even countries like the Netherlands were the youth played a lot more then older people. Guess I will have to wait another 35 years or so. Attitude is half the game, reason why Meckwell are hard to beat. But they play for money, so instead of winning even more Worldchampionships, they play with clients. Maybe Countries should start being proud of Worldchampions, and award money for Championships won. I am sure if Meckwell can win $250,000 for winning Worldchampionship Pairs, they would play em all together. Nomore clients. Mike ;)
  20. My question is, how do find that out? Is there a program for that ? Mike ;)
  21. Great Vu-graph. BBO is best thing to have happen to bridgeplayers around the world. Thanks Guys and Girls, to many to name, for all your great work. Mike ;)
  22. Psyching, or bluffing, is a part of bridge. I am sure if you would have gotten a bad score opps would not have called director. They are just crybabies. Mike ;)
  23. And of course I don't think they have to worry about money, and little things like that. In Netherlands some years ago they tried to set up a professional Bridge team, it was pathetic. Beggars were getting more money. Mike ;)
  24. Solid pdships, they have been playing together for years, and years to come. They know eachother and the system inside out, they don't switch pd's every few years. And of course they are fulltime bridgepro's. Great tablefeel. Mike ;)
