  1. I'll temporarily end the registration right here. 26 entries total now. However I may still accept more entries if you are interested and additional entries make the tournament structure better. Group stage assignment and rule will be announced later today.
  2. OK, I plan to have the registration end at this Saturday (12/3). If you're still playing Fall NABC, you don't have to start immediately, we'll give the first group RR stage a full week (likely end 12/10 or 12/11). For the KO stages, let's try our best to play faster (like ~4 days/stage) so we can try to finish it before Christmas. We can also let people (who are at least in semifinal) play after Christmas if such an arrangement is necessary. For people who are unsure (I put a bracket on your id in entry list), could you confirm to me whether you still want to play?
  3. Let me think about the time issue a little more.
  4. Thanks for reminding me this. We'll wait until after the end of Fall NABC to start this.
  5. The tournament is over. Entries https://www.dropbox.com/s/gpdgfwkxvjfvbyc/Event%205%20entries.xlsx?dl=0 General Rule https://www.dropbox.com/s/itgylhtb4r07ppk/RULE.docx?dl=0 SCORE https://www.dropbox.com/s/g3afodr580l1ox1/BBF%20event%205.xlsx?dl=0 VP scale http://www.worldbridge.org/Data/Sites/1/media/documents/regulations/WBFVPscales.pdf Group assignment Group 1: stephen tu, barmar, gordontd, jeffford76, mkgnao Group 2: diana_eva, sfi, elwood913, broze, el mister Group 3: olegru, wackojack, stoppiello, sep123, jexa_ Group 4: dadim, smerriman, chuck11, ye17, icycookie Group 5: nige1, ovncylmz, nekthen, phil, gqc6, frank0 Rule of group RR (please read) 1. Before the end of the incoming week (possibly extend to weekend if necessary), please play 1 set of 16 boards, non-best hand IMP challenge with each other player in the same group, and report the result in this thread (with link to hand record). 2. Top 3 of each group will advance to R16 KO, seeding is determined by rank in group, then (average) VP. Play-off rule There will be a 16 boards play-off between a. top VP 4th among group 1~4 and b. 4th place of group 5 with 14.5 IMP carryover (so the chance of winning about 70%, estimated from data in event 3). to determine the 16th spot in KO stage. Group assignment algorithm (no need to read, just for your information) A. Seeding is determined first by masterpoint, then masterpoint from event 4, then random number. B. A randomly selected player is put to group 5 (result:frank0 (seed 26)) C. 5 sets of random permutation of [1 2 3 4 5] is generated (not listed in excel file) to determine the group assignment of seed 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25 D. Because we're going to have 16 out of 26 players advance, that means about 3.7 out of 6, or 12.3 out of 20. That translates to Rule of group RR 2. and 3. E. The carryover of play-off match will be determined by statistics comes from event 3 (also IMP non-best hand).
  6. According to the poll, next event is most likely IMP non-best hand with the same tournament structure. I'll let this poll stay a few days so people can have a nice thanksgiving break. The registration of the next event will probably start this weekend. I'll start a separate thread.
  7. OK good, can you pm me your dropbox account(email) so I can share the file?
  8. We're still waiting for the last match of the event #4. Let's take the time to poll for event #5. I'm looking for an additional volunteer to do the "organizer" things (for this event it's just mostly just update score in the excel). Ovncylmz will be too busy to do that for the next event. Let me know and I'll give you the access to the dropbox.
  9. OK now you can start with your semifinal match with stephen tu, and the winner of this match will play the final with zebutin.
  10. OK keep me update and finish it no later than this weekend.
  11. What's the status of m1cha vs dadim?
  12. Also just a brief announcement, there will be no consolation this time (sry all organizers are too busy).
  13. Link is correct but your opp is dadim.
  14. Can the match be done within 12 hrs?
  15. @ Dadim and elwood913, please complete matches ASAP, no later than Sunday. Please also let people know if one of you is not accepting the other's match. In the case of matches not being completed, I'll make a decision (hopefully we don't have to do this).
  16. Dadim please proceed when elwood913 accept the match. We give people a week to play 64 boards for exactly reason that someone may not be available for a few specific days. Please do not be offended just because a match is not accepted for a few days and when there are plenty of time left. In the future we'll consider assigning penalty to slow play.
